With no background in golf, where do I turn for answers?
Children looking to get into the game should see if their elementary school participates in the National Golf in Schools program. CN Future Links Learn to Play program—Canada’s junior development golf program—is designed for kids to enjoy the game of golf, regardless of their experience. Find a facility running the program in your area here. Equipment is generally provided free of charge by host facilities; however, Golf Canada has made affordable CN Future Links junior golf clubs available for purchase through our website or your local big-box retail store. Adults, before you dive right in, get a little history lesson on golf in Canada, read up on the rules of the game and learn about a handicap. And remember, you don’t need an expensive set of clubs; a starter set will suffice. Take a lesson with a Canadian PGA professional to learn the key fundamentals and practice at driving ranges and executive length golf courses. And if you still have questions (which you will) don’t hesitate to get a hold of us here at Golf Canada.

Enjoy
Golf sure looks like fun, maybe I’ll investigate further.
Golf is enjoyed by people of all ages and from all walks of life. There are plenty of places to play the game—private, public, semi-private, nine-hole, executive and par-three golf courses. Visit your provincial golf association—British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., and Newfoundland and Labrador—for a list of golf facilities in your area. Many of these facilities offer various leagues—men’s, senior and women’s, like Golf Fore the Cure, along with couple’s nights—aimed at growing participation. Canadian PGA professionals are a great resource for those looking to improve their golf games. They run group clinics, private lessons and can assist in properly fitting golf clubs to your individual needs.

Excel
Even though I lack experience and skill, I thoroughly enjoy watching elite players.
Junior golfers, parents and coaches should look deeper into Canada’s Junior Competitive Pathway—an interactive guide to junior competition options across Canada for golfers of all levels— and the Long Term Player Development Guide for Golf in Canada. Provincial Golf Associations, as well as Golf Canada, host numerous golf championships and are not only a great opportunity to watch live, but to volunteer at as well. Golf Canada also offers rules certification and course rating opportunities through educational programs for those looking to play a role in Canadian golf.
