Scobie falls in US Junior Amateur semi-final
Smithtown, N.Y.'s Jim Liu defeats Ajax Ont. native Matthew Scobie 3&1

Matthew Scobie’s spirited effort at the 65th US Junior Amateur Championship has come to an end. The Ajax, Ont. native lost his semi-final match today 3 & 1 against Smithown, N.Y.’s Jim Liu.
Earlier in the day, Scobie defeated Maverick McNealy of Portola Valley, Calif, 3 &1 in quarter-final play.
Scobie had an impressive run at The Golf Club of New England in Stratham, NH, where the prestigious event was being held.
One of three Canadians to have advanced to match play yesterday, Scobie won his round of 32 match against Cameron Champ of Sacramento, Calif. 1-up. Then, in afternoon action, he defeated of Tae Wan Lee of Korea 3 & 1.
