The 13th hole at Oshawa Golf Club

National College Championships set for October

Oshawa Golf Club to host Canada's best college golf teams October 15-19

The 2012-2013 CCAA national championship season will tee off October 15-19, 2012 with the 2012 PING CCAA Golf National Championship, hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, Ont.

The national championship tournament will take place at Oshawa Golf Club, a stunning course designed by prestigious Canadian golf architect Stanley Thompson.

“We are ecstatic to be hosting again," said Ken Babcock, athletic director at Durham College. "The 2012 PING CCAA Golf National Championship provides us with the opportunity to showcase one of the nicest courses in Canada.”

Durham College previously hosted CCAA golf tournaments in 2001 and 2002, which were instrumental in making golf an official CCAA national championship sport.

The Durham Lords women’s team will likely pose a threat on home turf; they’ve claimed the women’s team title two years in a row. The Humber Hawks of Etobicoke, Ont. have been similarly dominant in the men’s competition, earning three consecutive gold medals.

Men’s teams consist of four or five players, with only four counting towards the championship team. Each women’s team consists of two or three players, with two counting towards the championship team. Individual players posting the lowest gross score after three rounds shall be declared winners of the individual competitions.
