Over 13,000 women participated in Golf fore the Cure events nationwide this summer and together they’ve raised over 4.5-million dollars since 2003 in support of Breast Cancer research.
Out of all those ladies, one participant was randomly chosen as this year’s lucky winner of Subaru’s Viva Las Vegas national contest.
Angela Gibson of London, Ont., recently received a phone call from Golf fore the Cure coordinator Rebecca Siddall letting her know she had won the contest due to her participation at the Greenhills Golf fore the Cure site in Lambeth, Ont., this past summer.
At first, Gibson didn’t believe the phone call was real but after a little convincing realized she was the lucky winner.
“I have a permanent smile on my face right now,” she excitedly said over the phone. “I just don’t believe it, I never win anything and this has been a tough year.”
As the lucky winner Gibson will receive round-trip air fare to Las Vegas for two, VIP tickets to ‘Golf fore the Cure’ ambassador Celine Dion’s ‘Return to Las Vegas’ show, accommodation for two nights, a round of golf for two and also a car rental for the duration of her stay.
“As the presenting sponsor of Golf fore the Cure, Subaru Canada is pleased to support this great cause and also sponsor the Viva Las Vegas contest,” said Tod Sullivan, Director of Vehicle Operations, Fleet & Sponsorship for Subaru Canada, Inc. “This remarkable program encourages women, just like contest winner Angela Gibson, to participate in golf activities in support of the fight against breast cancer. Subaru Canada wishes Angela a wonderful time in Las Vegas as she takes in a performance and backstage meet-and-greet with Team Golf fore the Cure celebrity advocate Celine Dion.”
This past summer was Gibson’s first year participating in Golf fore the Cure after a friend invited her to join.
“It was such an amazing experience,” Gibson said. “I was paired with a lovely lady, a cancer survivor and it was such a great day with a lot of wonderful people and stories.”
Gibson will take her trip to Las Vegas sometime in the next few months and is already looking forward to playing again next year.
