Golf Saskatchewan and the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), announced today an official partnership whereby the two associations will work together to develop junior golf in the province.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Golf Saskatchewan Junior Tour Order of Merit will be powered by the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, ranking every MJT event as well as Golf Saskatchewan junior events. The two associations will also jointly run a season-ending Order of Merit Junior Championship, at Elk Ridge Resort in Waskesiu on August 24-25, 2013, and the MJT will lend support to the Golf Saskatchewan Junior Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships at Hillcrest Golf Club in Moose Jaw on July 8-10, 2013.
“I am happy that we are working together to provide the best competitive opportunities for kids and maximizing our resources to deliver exceptional services to junior golfers and their parents,” said Phil Grosse, Manager of Sport Development and Marketing for Golf Saskatchewan. “We have recognized the quality of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour program and wish to use this vehicle to help develop the junior golfers in the province.”
Murray Poje, Executive Director of the MJT, said, “This is a great opportunity for all the junior golfers in the province to improve their playing resumes in high level tournaments that bring together two associations." Poje noted that the Saskatchewan MJT schedule is run by former PGA of Canada Junior Leader of the Year, Jeff Chambers, and starts May 19-20 in Swift Current. The tour then moves on to stops in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Waskesiu.
