Albin Choi of Toronto, picked up his seventh collegiate title Tuesday with a victory at the NCAA Puerto Rico Classic.
Choi, a member of NC State Wolfpack, fired a final round 7-under-par 65 that included one eagle and seven birdies. His 12-under-par, 204 total, left him two strokes clear of any other competitor in the field.
Currently the 16th ranked amateur in the world, Choi has now captured three individual titles already in his junior season. In the fall of 2012, he won the Tar Heel Intercollegiate and also the Warrior Wave Princeville Intercollegiate. Matt Hill of Brights Grove, Ont., currently holds the individual record at NC State with 10 tournament victories.
In January, Choi was also named to the Ben Hogan award watch list for the 2012-2013 NCAA season. This award is presented annually to the most outstanding amateur collegiate player and will be narrowed down to 10 semi-finalists on April 18.
