The Golf Canada Women's Fund was created in 2005 as a result of the merger between the Canadian Ladies' Golf Association and the Royal Canadian Golf Association.
The intent of the fund is to have a dedicated "pot" of money that will be used towards supporting female specific initiatives that have a long term affect on growing the game for women.
The fund supports women's education in the game through the Rules of Golf or Handicap and Course rating seminars. In addition, the fund also supports female training or player development programs that focus on long term development and/or player competitive experience.
Oversight of the women's fund is done through the Women's Fund Committee.
RULES OF GOLF SEMINAR FUNDING
The Golf Canada Women’s Fund will annually fund one woman from each province
to attend a Level 4 RCGA Rules of Golf seminar. Preference will be given to
applicants who have not previously attended a National Level 4 Rules of Golf
Seminar and to those applicants who have not previously received a grant
from Golf Canada’s Women’s Fund to attend the National Level 4 Rules of Golf
Seminar.
Funding includes seminar registration fees, round trip flight or mileage and hotel room for four nights.
Rules of Golf Level 4 Seminars are restricted to persons who are RCGA Level 3 certified officials or have achieved 75% or better on the RCGA Level 4 Rules Exam or 80% or better on the USGA Rules Exam within the last four years. You may also be eligible if you have achieved 92% or better on the USGA Rules Exam after January 1, 2001 or are currently or have been previously certified at Level 4 or equivalent by the RCGA.
COURSE RATING SEMINAR FUNDING
The Golf Canada Women’s Fund will fund one woman from each province to attend
a RCGA Course Rating seminar in each year the seminar is held. Preference
will be given to applicants who have not previously attended a National
Course Rating Seminar and to those applicants who have not previously
received a grant from Golf Canada’s Women’s Fund to attend the National
Course Rating Seminar.
Funding includes registration fees, round trip flight or mileage and a total room for two nights
RCGA Course Rating Seminar is restricted to persons who have at least 1 year of course rating experience and possess the experience and knowledge to instruct at a provincial course rating seminar.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT FUNDING
Female training or player development programs that focus on long term
development and/or player competitive experience are eligible to apply.
Programs must have mechanisms in place in order to track the progress of the
players who participate in these programs. This data must be provided to
Golf Canada.
In addition, funding can also be applied to assist in the development of women's coaching or instruction.
WOMEN INSTRUCTORS AND COACHES
The Women’s Fund committee recognizes the need for role models for young
female golfers. Programs that assist to promote training, mentoring and
education of female instructors and coaches will be considered for grant
monies. Special attention will be focused on initiatives that are targeted
at involving females in the training and certification of the Canadian PGA
contexts of Future Links Leader, Competition New Competitor coach and
Competition Developing Competitor coach.
