Team Canada’s Rank no.1 seed at Argentine Amateur Championship

Garrett Rank of Elmira, Ont., has advanced onto the match-play portion of the Argentine Amateur Championship as the no.1 seed after winning the stroke-play format of the tournament.
Rank, 25, finished at 6-under-par after posting back-to-back 3-under par rounds of 69 at the Estancia Golf Club near Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His colourful second round was highlighted by six birdies and one eagle and left him one stroke ahead of the rest of the field to capture the top seed for the match-play portion of the tournament.
Canada’s Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C., fired a 5-under-par, 30 on the front-nine of his second round and finished the stroke-play format in seventh after his 4-under-par, 68.
The Argentine Amateur Championship is considered one of the world’s premiere amateur golf events. Players compete will now compete in match-play format with the winner being crowned on Sunday after the 36-hole final.
