Team Canada’s Garrett Rank posted another successful international finish after advancing through to the semifinals of the Argentine Amateur Championship.
Before reaching the semifinals, the Elmira, Ont., native beat Mexico’s Aaron Morales 1-up in the Round of 16. In the quarterfinals he moved past New Zealand’s, Jordan Bakermans1-up before facing New Zealand’s Joshua Munn.
Rank held a 2-up lead through nine holes of play in the semifinal match but faltered over the final holes. Munn advanced through to the championship match against Spain’s, Antoni Ferrer Mercant after a late 2-and-1 victory over Rank.
Development Squad member Adam Svensson also had a successful week in Argentina, reaching the quarterfinals. In the Round of 16 he beat Nicolas Ballistreri 4&2 before losing 1-down to the tournaments eventual winner, Mercant, in the quarterfinals.
