Canada's Brooke Henderson posts opening round 71 to lead all women

After Round 1 of the 2013 Copa de les Americas event, the Team Canada contingent of Albin Choi, Corey Conners, Augusta James, and Brooke Henderson combined to post a 12-over-par, 300 team total.
Henderson, 15 and of Smiths Falls, Ont., carded the lowest female round of the day, after a 1-under-par round of 71 on the TPC Blue Monster course at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami.
Teammates Choi (Toronto) and James (Bath, Ont.), both finished with 4-over-par rounds of 76, while Listowel, Ont.'s Conners, posted a 5-over-par round of 77.
Canada currently sits in fifth place, seven strokes behind Argentina in the overall team competition. In the women’s team event, the duo of Henderson and James are currently tied for first with Argentina while the men’s squad currently sits in eighth place, 12 strokes behind Colombia.
