To start each year – or season – at Golf House, it always seems as though there is positive change in the air... a new calendar, a new season to look forward to and even new staff to welcome.
Throughout the year, Golf Canada has the privilege of employing students through a variety of internships and contract positions here at Golf House. Each term – winter, spring/summer and fall, we find a new group of intern recruits gracing the office, motivated in an effort to help grow the game.
As a full-time staff member of over three years, and a former intern here at Golf House, I can fully appreciate the strong internship program we have had in place for many years. In fact, of my immediate colleagues, four of five staff began their days at Golf House as interns. This tradition holds true throughout many departments at Golf House, making our staff such a cohesive and well-acquainted group.
Late last week, the most recent addition to our department here at Golf House, got a traditional, official and time-honoured welcome to the team. Shortly thereafter, Dan Hyatt, a fourth-year Sport Management student from Brock University became an instant Golf Canada YouTube Channel sensation.
Dan, whose been in his internship role for nearly three weeks now, was officially welcomed to our team here at Golf House through a prank we refer to as the ‘Golf Canada Golf Ball Waterfall’.
Unsuspecting, Dan went on a search for office supplies in a cabinet adjacent to his workspace and was greeted by hundreds of balls and no office supplies.
It should be noted that Dan wasn’t the first, nor will he be the last to fall victim to this traditional prank. But, Dan, a stand-up guy in his own right, took our shenanigans in shock and stride.
... the search for office supplies still continues.
If you’d like to learn how you could find yourself in a Golf Canada internship, just as our boy Dan has, consult our Careers Section. Golf Canada is proud to have such a strong internship program and appreciates the efforts of all student-staff, past, present and future.
