Although the wrath of winter is still in full force, for many Canadian golfers the thought of walking down the fairway at their home club isn’t too far off.
Those living in warmer climates such as Vancouver Island may not have quite the wait that those in central and eastern provinces do. With courses in Southern Ontario set to open as early as mid to late March, it is time to start getting excited to play on home territory.
The team at Golf Canada has been preparing for the 2013 season for quite some time, and we are eager to announce that registration is now open for CN Future Links, CN Canadian Women’s Tour and National Amateur Championships (Registration links available below).
This is an exciting time for staff in the Amateur Championships department as over the next few months the championship field for each event will build, and anticipation for each event will grow.
The Golf Canada Selection Committee carefully selects the field for each event through processes which are stipulated in each events entry form (entry forms can be viewed by clicking the “Info” link for each event below, and then “Entry Form” on the next page). These processes involve a variety of methods including competitive histories and golf resumes submitted by competitors, priority and exemption lists, provincial quota systems based on size and performance and direct exemptions received through previous events.
The Golf Canada Selections Committee undergoes a difficult process as acceptance into each event can be competitive and sometimes unforgiving. The final goal is to have a field with the highest level of competition possible.
Staff at Golf House has been eagerly planning each event and are looking forward to kicking off the season as early as May 9th, with the CN Future Links Championship hosted in Courtenay, B.C.
This year’s schedule will span the entire length of Canada - from Vancouver Island, to Antigonish, N.S.
As always, our championships showcase elite Canadian competition, as well as top internationals vying for our country’s national titles.
You can access registration and information for each event below and you can view the complete 2013 Golf Canada Schedule here. We hope you share our excitement in looking forward to the 2013 competitive season in Canada.
