TOYOTA, AICHI, Japan – Team Canada NextGen athletes finished strongly, with the Boys team finishing T2 and the Girls team seventh at the 2026 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Toyota, Aichi, Japan on Friday.
Team Canada NextGen Boys finished tied at 22-under with Japan and the United States (U.S.) but the team title was awarded to Japan on tiebreaker, with the sum of non-counting scores over the four rounds being the deciding factor. As a result, Canada finished tied for second with the U.S. with Thailand close behind in fourth at 21-under.
The Boys team was represented by Austin Krahn of Christina Lake, B.C., Eddie Gu of Aurora, Ont. and Alexis Rouleau of Montreal, Que. Individually, Krahn finished T3 at 11-under, firing all four rounds under par, 69-66-69-69-273 to finish three shots back of the individual winner, Tomas Restrepo of Colombia at 14-under. Rouleau finished T5 at 10-under with all four of his rounds also coming under par (68-66-70-70), while Gu finished 19th at even with rounds of 68-72-71-73.
The Girls team finished the tournament in seventh at 4-under. The Girls team was represented by Eileen Park of Red Deer, Alta., Jodie Han of Vancouver, B.C., and Nobelle Park of Oakville, Ont. Eileen Park was the low Canadian finishing in ninth at 2-under (70-72-71-73), Han finished T11 at even (70-71-73-74) and Nobelle Park finished 22nd at 8-over (74-70-77-75). South Korea won the Girls team competition at 31-under, followed by Thailand and Japan in a tie for second at 25-under. Anna Iwanaga of Japan won the Girls individual competition, finishing at 18-under, two shots clear of Seojin Park of South Korea.
The 2026 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup was played on the Chukyo Golf Club, Ishino Course in Toyota, Aichi, Japan from June 23-26. The course played to a Par 71 for the boys and 72 for the girls competing. Many top PGA and LPGA Tour professionals have competed in the Toyota Junior World Cup of Golf since the tournament began in 1992, with the women’s competition being added in 2014.
Canada won gold in the Boys competition in 2022 and were represented by Félix Bouchard (Otterburn Park, Que.), Ethan Wilson (St. Albert, Alta.), Cooper Humphreys (Vernon, B.C.) and Eric Zhao (North York, Ont.). The Girls team also found success that same year, earning the bronze medal and were represented by Nicole Gal (Oakville, Ont.), Michelle Liu (Vancouver, B.C.) and Yeji Kwon (Port Coquitlam, B.C.). In addition, Canada has won two individual gold medals in tournament history with Rob McMillan (1994) and Corey Conners (2009).
