SPRINGFIELD, Man. – Étienne Papineau continued his strong run of form on Sunday at the PGA TOUR Americas Manitoba Open, finishing tied for fifth after closing with a 2-under 68 at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club.
The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., native carded rounds of 69, 67, 67 and 68 to finish the week at 9-under-par, five shots behind leaders Daniel Svärd and Adam Duncan, who finished tied at 14-under and advanced to a playoff. Svärd ultimately claimed the title.
Papineau’s performance was built on remarkable consistency. The Quebecer did not record a single round over par throughout the week and steadily climbed the leaderboard over the final three rounds to secure his place among the tournament’s top finishers. He shared fifth place with Gunnar Broin, Charlie Crockett and Harry Lord.
The result comes at an important stage of the season. Winner of the Osprey Valley Open in July, Papineau continues to collect valuable points with only four events remaining on the PGA TOUR Americas schedule. The top 10 players on the season-long points list will earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2027.
Papineau appears well-positioned to cap off one of the best campaigns of his professional career. After earning his first PGA TOUR Americas victory earlier this summer at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, he adds another strong result to his resume with a tie for fifth in Manitoba.
Other Canadians to make the cut included Chris Crisologo of Richmond, B.C. (T28), Thomas Giroux of Georgetown, Ont. (T39), Brendan MacDougall of Calgary, Alta. (T39), Braxton Kuntz of Winnipeg, Man. (T56), and fellow Quebecer Joey Savoie (T56).
