Growing the Game at the CPKC Women’s Open

On Tuesday August 18th, during the recent CPKC Women’s Open at Royal Mayfair Golf Course in Edmonton, She Plays Golf and First Tee Alberta welcomed 26 young females, ages 14-22, from the Newcomer Association of Edmonton to the tournament grounds. For many of the girls, it was their first time swinging a golf club and their first experience attending a professional women’s golf tournament.
The afternoon started with a golf clinic, where the girls learned the basics of putting, chipping and full swing before getting a surprise visit from Canadian professional golfer Tillie Claggett. Tillie shared stories of her golf journey, answered questions and offered tips as the girls continued working on their own swings.
The afternoon wrapped up with a tour of the tournament grounds, giving the group a glimpse into everything that goes on behind the scenes before the tournament opens to the public. It was a memorable day filled with laughter, excitement and new experiences.
Player Spotlight: Natasha Stasiuk

Natasha Stasiuk of Oakville, Ontario, has once again made history, capturing her sixth consecutive Canadian All Abilities Championship title at the 2026 Canadian All Abilities Championship, presented by BDO, held August 4-7 at Hylands Golf Club in Gloucester, Ont.
On the course, Stasiuk has built quite the resume over the years. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the world among female golfers with intellectual disabilities, according to the WR4GD Rankings. Her continued success on the course has made her a familiar face at the Canadian All Abilities Championship, where she continues to set the standard year after year.
Off the course, Stasiuk has become a role model for golfers with disabilities. She encourages anyone who is unsure about getting involved in golf to “go for it,” highlighting the sport as a great way to build connections and lifelong friendships.
