temp fix empty alt images for attachment

Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Have you recently accomplished the feat of a hole-in-one? Tell us about it! Share your story, picture / video and course information with us at holeinone@golfcanada.ca.

Mitch Jones, Applecross Country Club, Hole #3

I was playing with two good friends and teammates of mine in the lacrosse world at the beautiful Applecross Country Club, never did I expect the day to go like it did.

Hole #3 was playing about 185 yards with a slight downhill, I chose a 6 iron and hit a good one that took a great first bounce on the green and started rolling directly at the cup. It actually found its way behind the hole and appeared to sit right on the back edge. My playing partner with better vision then I started yelling that it was trapped leaning on the flagstick and started running towards the hole, he even yelled, “Look up the rules that’s a hole-in-one!”

I wasn’t as convinced as we all have had those shots that appear perfect from distance but when you get closer are faced with a knee knocking five to ten footer to deal with. So I tempered my expectations. Pleased with the stroke nonetheless I took my time getting into the cart and driving up, when I was about 40-50 yards away I saw it clearly drop in and that’s when I started celebrating!

To wrap up the story and add some humour. On the fourth tee I was still in mild shock and I ripped the ball into the woods never to be found again! Haha!

Darren Sabino, Wyldewood Golf & Country Club, Hole #9

I was playing with my two favourite golf partners – Ernie Bordin and Rob Andrews. In fact I am truly grateful to have been able to share the moment with them.

It was our first 18 of the season. It was the 9th hole, playing 149 yards. I hit a 7 iron and it took one hop and disappeared! The 9th hole plays to the clubhouse so there were quite a few witnesses.

Tucker Braund, Coyote Springs Golf Club, Hole #3

It was hole #3, 185 yards into the wind with a 5 iron, two bounces, rolled and broke right into the hole, which we could see from the tee box! I was playing with three friends I’ve played with since we were all junior members at Pinebrook in Calgary. It was one of my friends bachelor party, so even more fun to do it there!

Joseph Abbatangelo, Mill Run Golf Club, Hole #9

What an awesome day today! My first round of the season alongside my 11-year-old daughter Valentina. On hole #1, she takes a Titleist ProV1 ball out of her bag (with a TD Canada Trust logo) and says, “Here Dad, use this ball!” On hole #9 at Mill Run Golf Club (Highland Course), I hit an 8 iron from 183 yards with a 20 mph tailwind. The ball bounced on the front of the green and headed straight to the hole. The entire walk up to the green my daughter asks me, “Daddy, where is your ball?” I kept repeating, My ball is in the hole! I decided to video the last 30 yards to the green and it was awesome to see her pull my ProV1 out of the hole! After 30 years of golf, I shared my first hole-in-one with my youngest daughter. She quickly reminds me that she got her first hole-in-one after only six weeks of starting golf. Lucky for me, the 19th hole drinks were cheap, only a few root beers!

R.A Jones, Oshawa, Hole #18

The 18th hole, 98 yards, red tees and I hit a seven iron.

My playing partners were Gavin Watts, Steve Poots and Bill Lyon. Bill Lyon happens to be 92 years old and plays regularly at the club. Half the time he shoots his age.

I have done the cycle at Oshawa, I have had hole-in-one on holes #3, #5, #12 and now #18 I have been a member at Oshawa since 1970.

I don’t have a picture of the event, but I have something even better. I have a video of the hole-in-one. It just happened by fluke that a member of our Green Crew was checking out the camera over the 18th hole and was taking pictures while I was on the tee.

Ron Macdonald, Legends, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On Masters Sunday, cI alled and asked Legends if they had room for a single. So I was a walk on with a twosome, Griffith and Luke.

Second round of the year, it was about a 35-40 km wind directly into my face on the 8th hole it was playing at 171 yards. Plus the wind. I used a 7th heaven wood and it was on line right off the tee and landed about 12 feet short and then rolled in.

My first hole-in-one!

Cameron Weir, Two Eagles, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a nice couple as my friend was too “sick” to make it for our tee time. It was 163 yards with a cross wind. I hit a stock 7 iron. Watching it land left of the pin and start rolling towards it, knowing it was getting better and better, great to have a short birdie putt. But all of a sudden, the ball disappeared. Quite a surreal experience!

Jason Porter, Devon and the Devon Golf and Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing at Devon Golf and Country Club on April 29th with my wife Chantelle and Isabella, my 10 year old daughter, for her first round ever. Got to hole #9 and drained it with my 5 iron. Was a great memory for my daughter. She loves the game and now wants to get one herself!

John Hamilton, Windsor Park Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my first hole-in-one on April 21, 2024 at Windsor Park Golf Course in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Hole #16, 160 yards with a 7 iron into the wind. Landed in front of the flag stick and we watched it role back and disappear! I was golfing with three others (one Golf Canada member) and had them sign the scorecard and attest the round.

Marilyn Webster, Carnoustie Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with fellow ladies club members Irene Clarkson, Denise Pineau and Janine Wilson on April 5th when I got my second hole-in-one on the 8th hole at Carnoustie Golf Club. It was 115 yards to the pin over water. I pulled out an 8-iron, but as I had been pulling my irons that day and didn’t want to end up in the bunker on the left, I put the 8-iron back in my bag and pulled out my trusty 7-hybrid and teed it up higher than normal. As it bounced and rolled towards the hole Irene grabbed my arm and said, “It’s going in’” but I thought I could see my ball sitting just past the pin. As we walked up to the green and my ball was nowhere to be seen, I started to think that maybe it had gone in the hole and sure enough, it had! We had to have a shot of birdie juice to celebrate the occasion before heading to the next hole to finish our round.

Andy Alcock, Summit, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

– Played with Stew Smith and Nick Yuen

– Was 165 yards into the wind, hit a 6 iron

– Was my fifth hole-in-one

James Finlay, Riverside Country Club, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two other new members and friends, Andy Jay and Nick Demerchant. We got out early for a quick nine holes and opted to play the back nine.

The hole was the 18th hole at Riverside Golf and Country Club. The hole was 195 yards, a bit into the wind, but downhill. I opted to use a 7 iron, as the previous day I used a 6 iron and proceeded to lose two balls into the woods left of the hole.

I hit a straight shot that landed just short of the green and rolled up and into the cup. Thankfully we had a great view of the ball rolling into the hole. After celebrating what we were confident was a hole-in-one, I ran down to the hole to collect my ball.

What an experience!

Rob Connell, Mall River Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 138 yards. I used an 8 iron. My playing partners were Gerard MacDonald, Peter Johnston and Zach Connell.

Joey Fabing, National Pines Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Shane Quinlan and Sentilar Sebastian. The yardage was 114 yards and hit a pitching wedge. It flew pass the hole and spun it back. We got to see it all the way.

Matt Knox, Georgetown Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On Saturday, May 4th, Georgetown Golf Club hosted their men’s opening golf tournament. My brother Bradley Knox got a hole-in-one on the 16th hole. The following day, Sunday, May 5th, I was golfing with my wife (Courtney Knox), as well as a friend of ours (Dima Babych). We got to hole #8, and it was playing 142 yards (adjusted to about 135 yards downhill). I hit a 52 degree wedge and it landed behind the pin and spun back into the hole! All in all, a very memorable weekend for the Knox brothers!

Zach Vanderlee, Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partners for the day were Brett Way and Danny Kalfus. We were playing the gold tees that day and the yardage was about 145 up hill with a right to left cross wind, I grabbed my 9 iron and hit it about as well as I’ll ever hit a golf ball and the rest was history! Funny enough Brett and I were just talking about how poorly we had been playing up until that point where I tol him, “I just need to make a good swing here to get back on track.” Unfortunately, due to the hole design I didn’t watch it go in the hole from the tee, but we were elated to walk up to the green with my ball playing a disappearing act in the hole! Needless to say the celebrations would begin immediately after with some loud yelling and cheering that grabbed the attention of groups ahead and behind.

Anne Moore, Loyalist Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my first hole-in-one on hole #8 September 5, 2016. On Monday, May 6, I played with my two regular golf companions – Jackie Nesbitt and Lorne Sarmiento. It’s a short par 3 (85 yards), but with the gusty crosswind I used more club than normal. My Ping 425 7 did the magic. I’m in my 70’s, so age doesn’t matter in golf for hole-in-ones!

Lynn Pavlik, The Pulpit Club – Pulpit, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my husband, Jim Cambell, on Monday, April 29th and the hole-in-one occurred on hole#3 at the Pulpit. The distance was 144 yards that day and I used my 7 hybrid. It was later in the day with gloomy weather so there were only a handful of members in the clubhouse to celebrate. I would have happily bought the entire club a round! My husband was extremely excited for me too and was texting all his golf buddies. Jim is my favourite golf partner so it was extra special that he was with me that day. I have also been struggling with a very damaged knee so the hole-in-one was a wonderful gift from the golf gods.

Chad Hauser, Highwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Last year I had my first hole-in-one on a par 3 at The Canal at Delecour Golf Club in my second round of the season in May. This year it was another great start to the season and my fourth round of the season at the Highwood Golf & Country Club. It was the 17th hole, 306 yards. I pulled out my 9 degree Taylormade Stealth Driver and knew that I needed to go over the trees and water to go straight at the green. I had a line and told my playing partners Mike Grainger and Cory Williams that I need to go right over the tip of the tall pine tree but need to tee it a little higher so that it will land soft if I hit the green. I choked down my driver a couple inches and teed it up a little higher and let it go. It came off the face absolutely perfect. Once it went over the trees we couldn’t see it. My one partner Mike said, “I think it should be just left of the green.” and my other partner Cory said, “How about more like just left of the pin.”

We drove up the fairway and they hit there second shots and I was looking through my laser and couldn’t see anything on the green or around the green. We pulled up and automatically went to the back of the green and checked the bunkers because I have driven over this green before. Cory didn’t see anything, so I decided I would just go look at the hole. Sure enough as soon as I got towards the hole I saw the ball. We went absolutely crazy! Everyone within two fairways of us heard us! I had always wanted to get a hole-in-one on a par four. I have been inside of 3’ a few times in my life, but never thought this was going to happen. It was definitely an awesome day!

So now I have two hole-in-ones, par 3, par 4, and an albatross on a par 5 as well. Definitely things I didn’t think I would be able to do.

Dawson Gilgan, Prince George Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with Golf Canada member Tyler Smith and his friend who’s name I don’t know. It was a 7 iron.

Josh Kerychuk, Blue Devil Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my first hole-in-one and I was pretty excited. It was hole #12, 172 yards and I used a 7 iron. I was playing with my buddy Carman Penner. The best part was there were two maintenance guys at the back of the green that started celebrating before I did! They were very excited and kind, and even notified the pro shop on my behalf. The team in the pro shop had a nice souvenir waiting for me when we finished our round. The whole team at Blue Devil deserves kudos for how awesome they were.

Scott Miller, Murray Municipal, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

– Played with Joe Bladyko and Shaun Koroluk

– 160 yards

– 22 degree hybrid

– Third career hole-in-one

Michael Karasinski, Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club Inc, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was great! Played with a few members here at the club, Mal Smithson, John Gardner and Ed Devries! It was playing 181 yards into the wind and I hit a 5 iron! Initially, I thought it was long and then I heard Mal from the other tee block yell over to say it was in! I couldn’t believe it! There was excitement and fear knowing it was our Men’s League opening dinner that night and it could get expensive! All in all, it is a moment I will never forget!

Francis Macdonald, River Hills Golf Club – Shelburne, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

Happened at River Hills Golf and Country Club on hole #18 using a 8 iron. Bounced twice than rolled into the hole. It was about 115 yards. Playing with Bobby Stoddard Sr. and Don Dares.

By the way Bobby had a hole-in-one about a week and half earlier. I missed his as I wasn’t there but two of us in our regular group has an ace. His was on hole #10.

Michael White, Oshawa Golf & Curling Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Thanks for the email. I was playing with Rob Ford a buddy of mine. Played in the rain and into the wind, I hit a seven iron high draw, it rolled five feet into the hole from 156 yards. My friends were playing in front heard it hit the pin. Our pro was playing behind us and heard the cheers. This was my fourth hole-in-one.

Maurice Robert, Stony Plain Golf Course, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

– Playing with Ian Mccreath and Gord Duckering

– 148 yards

– Big Bertha 8 hybrid

Bruce Card, Craigowan Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I did get a hole-in-one on April 22nd my first round of the year after being away in Florida for the winter. I had it on hole #14 at Craigowan it was playing 180 yards and I hit a six iron. I was playing with Dean Olson, Mike Aggerholm and Gord Munro it was the third one that I have had.

Brian Kebic, Conklin Players Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with ClubEG on their annual trip to Binghamton, NY at the Conklin Players Club. On the Saturday, April 27th outing I was playing with Owen Preston from ClubEG along with Jack Kenny and Keith Blake from Brockville Country Club. It was hole #2, playing 111 yards. I hit my pitching wedge and was asking for it to get a big bounce so it would get up and on the green. The ball landed just short of the green and rolled up to the hole, breaking from right to left. We watched as the ball went behind the pin and then disappeared, obviously falling backwards into the hole.

Louis Forbes, Timber Ridge Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 117. Used a Ping G15 9 iron. Was playing with Brad Little, Paul Whitley and Ron Romard.

Jeremy Spence, Bear Creek, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was Friday, April 26th. It was on Island course, hole #6, par 3, 154 yards and I used 8 iron. Playing partners/witnesses: Paul Shervill and Dan Babins.

William Garbarino, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my first hole-in-one after 15+ years of playing golf. The yardage was 161 and I played a 7 iron. Ball landed five and half feet before the hole, took one bounce and rolled in. The rest of my foursome are all GreyHawk Golf Club and Golf Canada members (Jim Neubauer, Tim Smith and Chris Seidl).

A very exciting moment! The group photo includes a fifth person who was a prospective member driving by, he stopped to congratulate me when he witnessed the hole-in-one shot.

Derrick Tuyl, National, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #5 at The National Golf Club of Canada, 8 iron, 168 yards with two of my closest buddies: Danny Mauti and Danny Tersigni.

Jamie Bagan, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

Here are the details of my hole-in-one; golfing with Perry Mogus, Ron Pacholko and Adi Lintner (part of a group of 16 that golf every Friday at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club). Hole #9. Approximately 110 yards and the club used was a pitching wedge.

Nick McBride, Oakfield, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

Been playing for over 30 years and this was my first ace! Such a great experience. It was hole #15 at Oakfield Golf and Country Club. 160 yards from the white with a 7 iron. Playing partners were Mike Juurlink, Kyle Millen and Ryan Millen.

Trish Snowdon, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my first hole-in-one ever so needless to say I was pretty excited. I was playing with my partner, Jayne Boyle, and her two sons Jonathan and Michael Cramton. The day was overcast and rain had been falling for a few holes. The 13th hole has an elevated green with water directly in front. We were playing the white tees, so it was about 140 yards. I pulled out my 5 hybrid and just thought, “get it over the water.” My shot went up directly in line with the flag and landed on the little crest right before the green. We saw it roll off the hill and Jonathan immediately said, “Oh, this has a chance.” Then it disappeared. Because it’s elevated, we couldn’t see where it went after it came off the hill. We jumped in the carts and took off for the green. I fully expected it to have rolled past the pin and be on the far side of the green. But as we got closer, no ball was in sight. I sprinted up to the flag, still holding my club and sure enough, there it was at the bottom of the cup. My TaylorMade TPS 5 was staring back up at me. Let the whooping commence. Even some guys a couple holes over were cheering and giving air high fives. Definitely a hole to remember!

Ingrid Kim, Langara Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

On Langara Ladies Club Day last April 30, Anne Findlay-Shirras, Geordie Stowell, Shelley Sluggett and I teed off in group six. On the 130-yard second hole, after hitting the tee with a 5-wood club, I came down from the tee box after seeing that my ball had landed well on the green and was rolling toward the hole cup. I arrived at the green and couldn’t find the ball right away on and around the green, but eventually, we found my ball sitting in the hole cup and shouted “hole-in-one!” Everyone shouted in unison.

Rylan Isaac, Valleyview Delisle Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt
Sunday, May 5th 2024 I was golfing with my brother, Corey, at Delisle Valley View Golf Club. It was a cool, windy day. We stepped onto the fourth tee and I lasered the flag. 169 yards with a roughly 30km/h wind dead into. I estimated it was playing about 190 yards to the flag which was cut left centre of the green. I grabbed a 6 iron and flighted it down into the wind. The ball started at the right/centre of the green and began working right to left, pitching about 15 feet short of the pin. Just before the ball reached the green I heard Corey say, “Get in the hole.” This got the attention of a buddy of ours who was in his backyard, which backs the tee box, with his family. We all watch as the ball continues to roll towards the hole, breaking right to left, and then disappears! Everyone starts cheering and I turn around to look at Corey in disbelief! It was my first hole-in-one and an incredible feeling as I was starting to believe it may never happen. I then proceeded to three putt bogey the next hole (of course), but still finished the round with a one over par 70. Fun fact, my buddy who was in his backyard with his family also recorded a hole-in-one on this same hole last year while his family watched from the deck!

Jeff Reader, Whispering Pines, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

On hole 5, I used an 8-iron to get my hole-in-one. The blue tees are under repairs and we shot from the red tee box. The yardage from the red tee off is 116. I was golfing with Eric Belanger and Carl Berends who are also members at Whispering Pines Golf and Country Resort.

Andrew Crow, The Oaks of St. George Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first week of my men’s league at The Oaks of St. George Golf Club. I was having a bad round but having fun as it was the first week for my league foursome to be back together. Blaine, Tony and I played simulator golf all winter but hadn’t played with Teddy since last summer. There is nothing like the verbal abuse Teddy brings to the game. On to the game, I hit a great drive on the par 5 hole #4 but managed to stick handle my way to bogey. We came up the hill to the tee box on hole #5 downed our birdie drinks because Tony drained his birdie putt on hole #4. Hole #5 at The Oaks is a Beautiful Downhill shot with a pond and bunker to the left and a big bunker to the right with a Big Willow tree at the back left. The green is an upside down “L” shape bending to the left with a small bunker at inside of the bend. It plays 127 yards to the front and 143 yards to the back. The pin placement was in the hardest spot on the green four feet from front the edge just past bend and the bunker at about 135 yards. Tony went first and didn’t hit his 9 iron well and ended up pin high. I also had my 9 iron in hand but was too lazy to walk back up the hill to my bag and grab my wedge so I tee’d up my 9 iron and hit a 75% shot really clean. It landed just clear of the bunker slowly rolled in. Of course most of my group was still celebrating Tony’s previous birdie and weren’t sure it went in. I was pretty sure but have been close in the past and didn’t want to get too excited. As we came up to the green Tony ran up to hole and started screaming. At that point my legs got a little wobbly. I couldn’t believe it, it finally happened.

Bill Hillis, Trillium Wood Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

– May 3, 2024 at Trillium Woods Golf Club – Hole #14

– Playing with Richard Bough

– Elevated tee over a swamp to the green

– First hole-in-one at 70 years old, 55 years of playing the game.

Stan Loach, Mississipi Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt
I was playing with Ray, Mark and Verne; all members of the Mississippi Golf Club. The hole-in-one was on the fifth hole, a short par 3 of about 107 yards. I used a pitching wedge. This was my second hole-in-one on this hole and of the three that I’ve had, the only one I have seen actually go in.

Fraser Sutherland, Fort McMurray Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing hole #8 on our Black Bear nine at Fort McMurray Golf Club. It was playing 171 yards and I hit a 5 iron. My playing partners were from left to right: Barry Reid, Claude Howse, me (Fraser Sutherland) and Brian Goodale.

Cameron MacPherson, Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was the 15th hole at Two Eagles, which was playing 152 yards to a front pin. I used an 8 iron to get there. I was playing in a junior tournament with three others around my age. The round started with torrential rain which seemed to ease off right after hole #13.

Sherri Carroll, Kawartha Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a cool, breezy morning, golfing with my ladies Diane Johnson and Krista Thompson, my second round of the season that started at the pro shop looking to sign up for a refresher lesson with Shanna as my first round was so bad! After this hole I thought, “maybe I will just stick with what I know.” Big surprise and great start to my season.

Robert Hindle, Credit Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my buddies, Ken Johnson, Jim Carmichael and Bob Babensee. On hole #7, at 143 yards, managed to hit a pure 7 iron. It flew high and straight at the pin, landed and rolled about 10 feet, and disappeared into the hole. I started playing golf as a 12 year old, and now, 64 years later, I finally got my first ever hole-in-one!

Shamin Babul, Mayfair Lakes Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It only took me 22 years to get my very first hole-in-one. On Saturday May 4, I was playing with three other lady members at Mayfair. (Lynne, Judy and Gin). The yardage to the hole, as per my watch was 111 yards. I used my 9 wood which normally hits about 105-107 yards. It was a great shot. Flew high and landed about four feet from the flag. We could see it rolling towards the hole. My playing partners got all excited, but I reassured them that it was probably sitting behind the pin. Low and behold, it was in the hole. What an amazing feeling it was. One to remember forever.

Lillian Zeng, Fraserview Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one on hole #3 , which is a par 3, at Fraserview Golf Course in B.C. on May 3rd. I used a 6 iron aiming for 130 yards and I did it perfectly. I also made my best score of my three years of golfing.

Mark Whitwam, Greensmere Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my golf partner Chris Koch in the Nortel (Northern Telecom) golf league against Dick Keilty and Bill Allan. (Nortel went bankrupt almost 20 years ago, but the golf league lives on with 45 two man teams in three leagues playing Monday and Wednesday evenings at three different Ottawa golf courses). Chris and I have been partners in the league since 1992 and we have won six times including last year. Playing last Monday at the Greensmere golf and country club, from the white tees I hit a 7 iron at the 150 yard 3rd hole on the Premiere course. The ball bounced once in front of the pin and then disappeared. Hole-in-one? When I got to the green, I checked the hole and my ball was at the bottom of the cup. It is my 2nd hole in one. The first was also in the Nortel golf league in 1998.

Jackson Fabris, Mickelson National Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Mateo Kern, Alex Adler and Max-Hamel-Balaski. It was 74 yards and I hit a 54 degree.

Cole Fedorvich, Westlock Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

The moment I watched the ball roll out of site I knew it had gone into the hole. Then like everyone’s worst nightmare I remembered I was golfing alone so to the world it might not be official but to myself and all my family and friends it does. I was playing a par three on the back nine. It was about 135 yards as I didn’t range it specifically and I used my pitching wedge to carry the distance.

Bill Dettweiler, Stone Tree, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My first and only hole-in-one at Stone Tree Golf Owen Sound. Mens night June 16, 2022 on hole #16 using an 8 iron, 124 yards to the pin.

Brae Rogalczyk, Ponoka Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my dad and grandpa, as we usually do every week. It was an amazing experience, and a memorable one to have that happen with my family. With my 7 iron in hand looking at the tee box sign I thought about how cool it would be to get a hole-in-one on #17 considering 17 is our family’s lucky number. I was 210 yards out and as soon as the ball landed on the green close to the pin I heard my Dad yell, “It’s going in” then roll about four feet and drop in the cup! We all jumped in the air together in joy sharing the amazing moment together with my dad and grandpa! Special thanks to Ponoka Golf and Country Club for having the course ready in great condition as this was my practice round for my upcoming Alberta Men’s Amateur Central Qualifier.

Grady McDougall, Stone Tree, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

Par 4, hole #6, blind tee shot over the hill about 310 yards playing more like 295 hit one in line with the left side of the green we thought went and looked in the grass bunker left and to the back and then finally checked the hole.

John Pagotto, Islesmere Blue Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

– Yardage: 135

Pat Peden, Sunnydale, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

How exciting to score a hole- in-one on #10 while golfing on Sunday afternoon, April 14th, in Courtenay, B.C. at our home club of Sunnydale. I must say I hit a pretty good 8 iron 117 yards and was just happy to hit the green. My friends Jen Zbinden, Kathy Binns and Kim Haaf were yelling that it went in the hole as well as the foursome on the next tee. I couldn’t believe it as I never even get a KP on ladies day! To make it even more fun I was playing with Kathy when she got a hole-in-one the year before at our ladies Tillicum tournament. Plus, a couple years earlier I was with another friend Linda Broadbent when she got a hole-in-one. It was the second time for me as I had scored one in my first year of golfing 40 years ago in the early 80’s. Guess I’ll be an old golfer when I score the next one.

Lori Seward, Playa Dorada Golf Club, Hole #17

I was having a not so great round, but it soon took a turn for the better! I was with my fiancé, John Taylor, and our friends from Lindsay, Ontario, John Walsh and Leigh Amyotte! It was hole #17, a par 3, 115 yards. I used a pitching wedge. I’ve only been golfing since May 2023, thanks to the COVID pandemic! It’s something I have always wanted to learn but just didn’t have the opportunity. I have to thank my guy, John, for guiding me and always pushing me to be better, but most importantly, to be honest with my scoring, “No gimmes.” I am obsessed with the game and love trying to get better with every single round. Some are good, some are not. But that’s golf! It only takes one great shot to bring you back!

Heng Phosy, Olympic View Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I made a hole-in-one on May 20, 2024, on hole #4 at Olympic View Golf Course in Victoria, B.C. The hole was playing 139 yards from the white tee. There was a slight breeze against us. I used a 7 iron, usually my 150 yard club. The ball landed short of the hole, ran out, breaking right as it did and went into the hole. We did not see it go in but thought it was going to be within 15 feet of the hole. Frank Mikkers and David Tobacco were my playing partners. This was my second hole-in-one. The first one was also on this hole years ago.

Blythe Comer, Watson’s Glen Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my first ever hole-in-one while playing in our LPGA Durham Chapter league Wednesday night on May 15th, 2024 at Watson’s Glen GC, hole #6, par 3, hitting a gap wedge approximately 78 yards and witnessed by Rosemary, Nicola and Sandy. Posted round to Golf Canada on May 16th scoring 40 for nine holes.

Greg Parker, Kedron Dells Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit an 8 iron from 141 yards out on hole #8. The ball landed just to the left of the pin, spun to the right and disappeared. At first, we weren’t sure if the ball just rolled off the green and out of sight. But we also thought, “I think that went in the hole.” As we walked closer to the green, the ball was nowhere to be seen. Sure enough, we get up to the hole and there’s the ball. Unbelievable feeling and one that I won’t ever forget. I’m still in disbelief that it happened!

Alexander Nemeskeri, Sherwood Golf & Country Club, Hole #16

Got an ace in 2019 (September 19th) at the Sherwood Golf & Country club on hole #16. 182 yards. 6 iron. Witness was My Oma (Austrian for grandmother).

Sharon Dunn, Viewpoint Golf Resort (Championship), Hole #3

Recorded my fourth hole-in-one on Tuesday, May 28th at The Landings Golf Course in Kingston, Ontario with my friends Sharon, Diane and the waiting grass cutter. A perfect shot on hole #11 on a not so perfect weather day!

Peter Renaud, Arundel, Hole #5

Hole #5, 155 yards with a hybrid 4. The hat I was wearing was the first time that I wore it. It’s a gift from my son who is in a Broadway musical in New York called Water for Elephants. You can clearly see the logo. So now it’s my new lucky hat.

Randy Vanberg, Quintero Golf & Country Club, Hole #16

I hit a 6 iron from 185 yards. It bounced twice and rolled the final 10 feet into the cup. We teed off from an elevated green so we could see it drop. I was playing with my best friend Marc Chiswell and two locals. It was a wonderful experience I will never forget!

Ivan, Sandhills Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

Got one! On hole #17 at Sandhills, Ontario last fall.

Trish Ross, Hemet Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one on hole #7 at Hemet Golf Course in Hemet, California on November 24th, 2023. I used a 5 hybrid and the yardage was 127 yards. This was my second hole-in-one, what makes this funny is my first hole-in-one was at Lacombe Golf Course in Lacombe, Alberta on hole #7 which is also a par 3!

Phil Rebus, Cove Cay Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

My ace took place at the Cove Cay Golf Club in Clearwater, Florida on the par 3, hole #12 late in the afternoon on March 23, 2024. I was playing with my wife Stephanie and two gentlemen from Chicago, Mark and Scott. I hit a pitching wedge from 122 yards, which turned out to be a one hopper that ended up in the jug. Because of the pin position (just behind a front bunker) and green elevation I did not see the shot go in, however a man on a neighbouring tee let out a cheer and walked over to shake my hand. I couldn’t believe my ball had gone in, but after walking up to the green we found the ball mark approximately two feet in front of the hole and my ball in the cup.

Carmen Auciello, Blackmoor Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was playing 153 yards, slightly downwind. I hit a 9 iron that was right at it the whole time and basically one bounced into the hole! It was a surreal moment and was a great way to end our golf trip to Myrtle Beach. I was playing with Jim Schmidt, Glenn Crisp and Derek Haughton. Was a lot of fun.

David Dischiavi, Cherry Downs, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my buddy Evangelos (Evange) Bethanis, he’s a Golf Canada member as well. The hole is listed at 170 yards, I gunned it at 157 and used an 8 iron. If you want a few more details it was into the wind with a big of a push off the right, little baby draw and it rolled in. The group in front of us heard the pin shake and walked to the green and saw it in the cup.

Dan White, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

My second round at the club this year after opening on Friday, I was playing with two good friends; Michael Dixon and Ryan Smyth on a mid Sunday morning round. The wind is regularly gusty at Whistle Bear Golf Club, and as we reached the par 3, hole #14, my playing partners lasered the flag at 155 yards with a good wind into us from the left. The pin located in the middle to back left on the green with the hole not visible in the landing area. I hit a 7 iron left over the green side bunkers watching the wind drift it back towards the flag, not knowing what happened after it landed. As we walked up, the group in front of us walked over the hill from the 15th tee shouting we think that went in. In disbelief, Mike gets there ahead of me and checks the hole and confirms it, my ball is in the hole, for my first hole-in-one!

Jeff Gossack, Deer Creek, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve been playing golf since 1975 starting from when I was a junior at the old Green Valley golf course in Saint Monique, Quebec. I have been moved on to play golf at Cedarbrook Golf and Country Club for two years and then Hillsdale Golf & Country Club for 22 years. I am currently now a member of Elm Ridge Golf and Country Club in Ile Bizard, Quebec for the last three years. Where I’m currently a member of our senior intersectional team. Believe it or not, it took me 60 and a half years to finally enjoy the moment of making my first hole-in-one. I have literally been on the lips several times, hit sticks, rolled over the hole countless times. But it never dropped. Even my sister, who didn’t take the game seriously has actually had a hole-in-one. So you can imagine, the excitement to finally get the proverbial monkey off my back.

It happened at my home course in Florida, which I’m a member at. Which is Deer Creek Golf Club in Deerfield, Florida on hole #8 par 3. Playing 156 yards into the wind that day and I had a 7 iron. At this point in my career, I probably would’ve taken a lucky bounce or a skulled duff. But to my amazement, it actually was an absolute gorgeous shot. I was playing with my good buddy Jerry Marcus who actually lives in New Jersey. As well as two other members of deer Creek, a gentleman named Joe, also from New Jersey, and Ron from parkland down here in Florida. Hope you will share my story with other golf enthusiasts. To never give up Faith in this wonderful game as everybody will eventually get an outstanding moment to cherish if they just keep at it.

Jay Kembhavi, Cordova Bay Golf Course, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a beautiful Spring morning in Victoria at the superb Cordova Bay Golf Course. My playing partners were Lorraine Cooper – Morton, Mike Morton and Barry Greenwood. The magical moment happened on hole #6 which has an elevated green. If I remember, it was 136 yards, slope adjusted. I hit a 6 iron, saw it roll to the pin and disappeared. I thought it had rolled in, as did my playing companions but because it’s an elevated green, we weren’t 100% sure till we walked up and confirmed the ball (a Red Srixon) was indeed in the cup. The Marshall, Brad Johnston happened to be at the green and saw what happened. That’s when we really celebrated! Brad of course immediately spread the word around and I got several congratulatory messages from all the wonderful staff at the club and other members who know me. Pretty memorable day especially since it was my very first ace and was very happy to share it with my friends.

Adam Gognavec, Legends On The Niagara, Hole #17

Hey Golf Canada! The hole-in-one was actually on Saturday the 20th! It was awesome, was 162 yards to the flag. There was an 82km/h wind gust that day so I hit a flighted 8 iron right at it, it landed about five yards short and rolled in like a putt. I was playing with two of my good buddies Troy and Christian. The group in front of us was my brother and his buddies and they heard our reaction to it dropping! It was my third hole-in-one but the feeling still doesn’t go away.

Anthony Francella, Hawks Landing Golf Club, Hole #13

I was down in Florida for an annual golf trip with the boys. Eight of us go down to play and get the rust off before the golfing season gets into full gear in Ontario. That day I was playing with John, Kenny and Darryl. The yardage was 149 yards and I hit a perfect 9 iron right at the flag. From the tee, we couldn’t tell where the ball ended up, however we knew it was close. When getting up to the green, the ball was nowhere to be seen. We’ve all had that anticipation before, could it be in the hole? I ran up to check the cup and screamed when I saw my ball in the bottom.

Elton Weston, Fort Langley Golf Course, Hole #5

I was playing our Saturday league with Rob Dahlseide, Rob Mitchell and Bryan Martyniuk. The hole was cut on the front of the green about 84 yards from the tee I hit a choked down sand wedge.

Thanks for the congratulations on my lucky hole-in-one on April 3. The hole was #12 at Glacier Greens in Comox B.C. It was 96 yards and I hit a pitching wedge. My playing partners were Mick Hewson, Paul McRoberts and Mike Maddocks. The goofy toothless smile was from the dentist the day before, all in all a very enjoyable day.

I was playing with my usual Wednesday night foursome at Gallaghers Pinnacle, Tom, Brian and Roger (sub for Frank partying in Vegas haha). We’ve been playing regular Wednesday nights here since the course opened in 1996. It’s a nine hole course so I register back nine scores to reflect blue tee distance. It was playing about 105 yards and I hit a 54° wedge. It was my second hole-in-one at the Pinnacle (fourth career), both Tom and Brian have been with me for three of the four. The last two (2016 and 2020) were to elevated greens so we didn’t get to see them drop, it was nice to watch this one roll in.

Ryan McColl, The Oaks Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

My son Wesley and I are proud members of our amazing club “The Oaks Golf & Country Club” in Delaware, Ontario. This season my son and I said, “This year one of us will get a hole-in-one on hole #15 our signature par 3 island hole.” On Monday, April 23, a beautifully lit evening, the camera rolled, and it happened! We were stunned, screaming, laughing, and celebrating when we fell to the ground, and I may have broken my thumb! We go back for more x-rays on Monday. We got it all on video, hole #15, par 3, 123 yards. We got you hole #15! The crazy thing is this is my sixth hole-in-one and fifth at The Oaks but the best one ever because it was with my son and our first together! So blessed! #memoryforlife

I was playing with fellow golfer and friend Mark Warren. I was visiting him in Vancouver for a week of golf (our golfing season in Yellowknife won’t start for another week or two). In fact, we weren’t even supposed to play that day because of rain. We decided at the last minute to take a chance on what looked like a changing forecast and play the round later in the day. The front nine wasn’t great. It was still wet and cold. At the turn we had a ‘Happy Gilmore’ toast and, surprise, the sun came out!

Anyway, the shot came on hole #14. The yardage was 165; I used a 7 iron. It was into the sun/sea so we lost the ball in the air. I actually thought I was short and hit rocks/lost the ball, so I hit a provisional. The provisional was short and right. I chipped it close, then went over to look for what I thought was my lost first ball. Mark putted his eight footer out for a birdie then went to retrieve his ball from the hole when he made the discovery!

We celebrated a bit and finished the round. I went into the pro shop and talked with staff there about it. They said it was pretty cool that I made a hole-in-one on that particular hole as it’s one of the signature holes for the golf course. They also offered to send me some sort of a certificate, outlining the achievement with all the details, etc. I have yet to receive it, but I’m looking forward to getting it. I’ve also kept the ball and the card in the hopes of having something framed to commemorate the once in a lifetime event.

I’ve been playing golf my whole life and this is the first time I’ve ever managed a hole-in-one! I’ve come close, but never actually made it. I guess doing so on this course, on their signature hole, makes it even more special!

On Tuesday, April 9th, I received the eGolf Canada newsletter and read all the articles including the Hole-in-One Report. It brought back memories of the past hole-in-one’s I’ve had in 2018 and 2019 and thought – “it would be nice to enjoy another one day”.

On April 11th, I arrived at Point Grey for my usual Thursday game. It was starting to rain and the forecast was for continuing rain throughout the day. With two from our group cancelling, my longtime (over 30 years) golf buddy, Caroline McKee showed up, along with a new member, Betty Gass. We reluctantly agreed to play a few holes and decide if we would continue. As we walked to the first tee, Killian from the pro shop stopped us and asked if we would have the young fellow on the tee join us as his group had cancelled and he was a guest from The Ottawa Hunt Club.

We happily agreed and mentioned to Geoff that we may only play a few holes due to the weather and he said that was fine. On the first hole we were impressed with his ball striking as well as his engaging and patient manner despite the 40 plus age difference.

On the second hole, approximately 86 yards, I took my pitching wedge and watched as my ball bounced once, hit the flag and landed near the hole. I was breathless as I turned to see if my group had just seen the shot, and as I looked back to the hole the ball had disappeared.

Yes, the ball was in the hole. But silence followed as I mentioned that the hole-in-one insurance states that you have to complete at least nine holes. And the rain was persisting, so I was grateful when Caroline, Betty and Geoff said they would continue and complete the nine.

After hole #9, we enjoyed drinks and lunch and most importantly for me will be the memories for my lifetime of sharing my hole-in-one with dear friends and a special new acquaintance.

Deborah Parker, Tara Golf & Country Club, Hole #4

I was playing with Linda Landry and Wynann Biondo. As you can see from the picture I brought my wedge with me because we didn’t see it go in and I figured I may have rolled off the back, but to my surprise it didn’t! It was on a par 3, I believe the yardage was 134. I hit my Ping 5 hybrid and was playing my Taylor Made Tour Response.

– Hole #11 – Par 3 – 126 yards – used my TaylorMade Kalea 3W and a Titleist golf ball

It was a nice spring day with blustery winds. I was playing with my husband and two friends and having a decent round. The shot on hole #11 was slightly left of the pin – bounced once and ran towards the cup and disappeared. My husband yelled “it’s in”. I was picking up my tee and actually did not see it go in the hole. We told the Golf Course Manager (Josh) who sent a notification to the Membership via Facebook. This was my third Hole-in-One putting me one-up on my husband who has two of them.

This was my seventh hole-in-one! Last year I had one on hole #15 at Paragon playing with Mike Willett, Lorraine Drummond and John Drummond. This year I had a hole-in-one on hole #7 at Paragon and I was playing with the same couple and my husband! I used a choked up 7 wood for 110 yards.

David Wilks, Uplands Golf Course, Hole #11

I had a hole-in-one on hole #11 at Uplands Golf Course. I was playing with John Agar and Keith Classen. From the white tees it is 140 yards to a middle pin. The winds were gusting that day. I hit a 4 hybrid with a slight draw onto the green. Thought it had gone by, but found it in the hole when we got up to the green. After the round went to the club house and used our club’s hole-in-one insurance to buy beverages for those who joined us to celebrate the occasion. It was a fun day and evening. Totally unexpected!

I was playing with a group that here in Mazatlan we call ourselves the PGA (Paraiso Golf Association). The par 3, hole #2 is 146 yards long (from the white tblocks). I used my 7 wood with a ProV1 golf ball.

Kendra Stoner, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

After starting golfing only three years ago, I’m gained a huge respect and love for the sport. In my first year of playing I was able to eagle a par 4 at my local course in Tofino, B.C. I’ve been hooked to the game ever since. So obtaining this hole-in-one was so incredibly special.

I was golfing with my friend Alex Cartwright who went to University for golf as is now a member at Gorge Vale. Playing with golfers at a higher level than me has always pushed me to be a better golfer.

We played 36 holes that day. My hole-in-one was the 10th hole in my back 18 round. After our front 9 of our second round, both fatigued we almost decided to not continue our second round – thank goodness we kept playing as I got my hole-in-one the next hole!

Alex teed off first landing around two feet from the hole, we were both very excited about his shot. Next was me, teeing off from the white/greens, around 115 yards out, I was in between clubs but decided to use my 8 iron. After a swing that felt good, we watched the ball land about two feet in front of the hole and what felt like slo-motion watched the ball roll into the cup.

Being the bubbly, energetic person I am, I started running around the tee box throwing my arms around in excitement. The way this hole is designed is it runs across from the driving range, and those on the range shared this excitement with us. The foursome in front of us also shared the exciting occurrence by jumping up and down and cheering!

I quickly jumped in the cart with my friend and raced to the green where I could perform my most favourite journey on a golf green of my life.

Picking that ball out of the cup, not even thinking about grabbing my putter is indescribable.

Honestly, I was ready to call it a day, but continued on the round and finished the last eight holes in exciting anticipation to get to the clubhouse for a much deserved pint.

Once entering the clubhouse, and being one of the only woman on the course that day, everyone knew what had happened before I even arrived. I walked in to a crowd of people clapping, in Kendra fashion, I did a little curtesy and sat at a table with some friends. One who was a member and also got a hole-in-one that day on hole #16, what a special day!

My friend is a member of the course and therefore gets a round of beer for everyone with his membership hole-in-one insurance so he rang the bell and everyone cheered in excitement (for the hole-in-one and free beer of course). The clubhouse was packed and I knew my tab would be outrageous so I didn’t ring the bell right away, instead I waiting a while for the crowd to die down a little before having my moment of bell ringing glory.

With a less dented wallet, I rang the bell, bought a round for the clubhouse and obtained my bag tag/flag of achievement.

That evening, FaceTiming my dad and sharing the story I could tell brought great pride and joy. He was able to share his stories of his three hole-in-ones and reminded me that this occurrence may be a once in a lifetime achievement in which I am grateful.

It was a special day that I will never forget.

Craig Kotyk, Venetian Bay Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #16, a par 3 , 149 yards from the white tees into the wind. I used a five wood because of the strong wind and it hit the front of the green and rolled up into the hole. This was over the water and when I went to look for my ball I thought it had rolled off the back although I felt I had taken a great shot , it was then that I looked into the hole and saw my ball. I could not believe it and what an incredible feeling! I was playing with my wife Nancy and two Venetian bay residents whom we were paired with, Rick and John. I am in awe and so honoured to join the hole-in-one club!

Douglas Moore, Knollwood Golf Club, Hole #9

I was playing with three friends Alex, Neal and George. It was around 120 yards and I used 4 hybrid. It was quite cold and windy, but I don’t hit a very long ball anyway. This is my second hole-in-one, I had another July 27, 2001, hole #9 also at Knollwood Golf Club, The New Course.

Greg Leis, River Greens Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with Troy Zuorro, Dave Sharp and Dan Place as part of our Tuesday morning golf league. We play a Stableford game and have a prize for closest to the hole on all four of the par 3’s. I was the third to tee off and both Troy and Dan had already landed on the green ahead of me, so the pressure was on. It was 126 yards with the wind at our backs so I chose my 9 iron. I hit it a bit lower than planned and the ball was running across the ground by the time it hit the green and looked like it was going to roll right off the back. The pin was at the back of the green so I had a fair bit of time to watch it roll across the green. After turning right, then left, it hit the pin, bounced up about 10 cm and then dropped in the cup. It was very exciting to watch. Apparently the whole course heard us cheer. Fortunately Troy was clear headed enough to make me pose for these photos that he took. It was my first, and hopefully not last, hole-in-one.

Tiger Yuanjun Liu, Morgan Creek Golf Course, Hole #3

I made a hole-in-one on April 6 in the MJT Junior Tournament at Morgan Creek Golf Course, Surrey, B.C.! It happened in the first round. There are so many good players in my age group.

On hole #3, it is 147 yards. I stroke with my 9 iron. And it was so amazing that the ball went into the hole straight! This is my first hole-in-one. I can’t believe that it happened in a tournament.

David Pratt, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was a member of a group of seven of us who went on the afternoon of February 5th to play 18 holes of golf at the Royal St. Augustine Golf Club in St. Augustine Florida. I was paired with Mr. Pierre Groulx and his wife Monique Groulx. It was a cool, cloudy afternoon and by the time we arrive at the hole #14 tee the wind was getting stronger as there was some rain moving into the area. The par three hole #14 is a fairly tight but approachable hole. The pin was placed on the right middle of the green. My shot was a high draw that navigated close to the tree line, and I saw it bounce and I thought it would have been on the green or possibly have gone in the right-side bunker or alternatively rolled of the back of the green. Pierre and Monique took their shots and as we approached the green, I could not see my ball. I searched the bunker first, then took a glance at the fringe area beyond the hole and then said to myself well perhaps it’s in the hole. I took a look and too my surprise and delight my ball was in the hole.

We were all so excited after Monique and Pierre putted out, we got in our carts to go and tell our friends in the foursome behind us the news of my hole-in-one. We arrived in the clubhouse to have a celebratory beverage and one of my friends asked myself, Pierre, and Monique if there was a picture taken and we realized no picture was taken. My friends drove with me to hole #14 and took a picture. I am so blessed to have such good friends who reminded by to get a photo of me so I can savour the memory of my first hole-in-one. Thanks Barb and Bob Stewart for reminding me, taking me back to the hole and taking my picture.

Finally, a most interesting part to this story is we are a group of about sixteen to twenty people who winter in the St. Augustine area. On this afternoon, on February 5th, another group of our gang was playing a round down in Palm Coast area at the Palm Harbour Golf Club. When I was preparing to write a note to our gang about my hole-in-one, I saw in my inbox a note from one of our friends that a member of our group, Cynthia Baumgarten, scored a hole-in-one that same afternoon. Now what are the odds of that?

It was an exciting day that I will always remember.

Lesa Bowen, Bonita National Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

First one ever and man did it feel amazing! I was playing with three special ladies from our golf community, husbands were in a foursome behind us. I stepped up to the tee and felt wind in my face so I contemplated clubbing up. So glad I didn’t as my 8 iron hit crisp, my ball hit the green, rolled and at the last moment turned right and into the hole it went!

The sweetest part of my first hole-in-one? We live on this green and I view it daily from our lanai. I’m certain our screams were almost heard back home in Canada!

Marcello Pavan, Fraserview Public, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I am a member of the Men’s Club at the Vancouver’s Fraserview municipal golf course. We were playing the opening day of the 2024 season on Saturday, March 30, a best three out of four,  four man team game. My partners were fellow Men’s Club members Tony Aquino, Don Neville and Darren Trach.

We teed off at 9:10, with me arriving at the course just five minutes before that! I ran to the first tee and teed off straight away. After a disastrous opening snowman (no kidding), I settled down. Hole #7 is usually a long par 3, with huge bunkers shielding the left front half of the green. On that day the tees were up, to about 165 yards from the hole, which was cut well over to the centre-right. I took aim to more-or-less the middle of the green, to the right of the front bunker, about 5-10 yards left of the hole, with my 4 hybrid to hopefully ensure I cleared it even with a miss hit. Well, I did miss hit it a little to the right, directly at the flag. It landed about 10 or so yards short and rolled directly to the hole. I was thinking, “hHey, this could be a KP for me” when it suddenly disappeared. My distance vision isn’t the best with those glasses, so my first thought was, “It didn’t go over the back did it?” Then I heard my group screaming, I looked back incredulously, then again at the hole, and then the adrenaline hit.

What a feeling. Surreal, out of body. Not at all what I dreamed it would be like. I tried to keep it together to not gloat in front of my mates, but they were more excited that I was!

The best part? Yes, there is a best part after that – I kept it going, draining three birdies on the day (happened maybe once before in my life) including two on the harder back nine, to shoot a career round for an eight under net. I was buzzing after the ace and really really didn’t want to mess up the rest of the round to ruin it, and it is supremely gratifying to have kept it together.

Ellen Wallace, Big Horn Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

Ellen Wallace had a hole-in-one on March 18 at Big Horn Golf Club in Palm Desert on the Mountains Course hole #8 using a 8 iron. Ellen made this during The Big Deal Golf tournament at her home course. I was excited to watch it go in and this was her second hole-in-one! We were playing nine hole matches, happy to say we won that hole! Way to go Ellen.

Allan Coldwells, Fort Langley Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I had made this shot hundreds of times before in the past 17 years but have never landed closer. It is hole #17 at the Fort Langley Golf Course and the hole has an elevated tee to a relatively round green surrounded by deciduous trees. In this case the distance was 93 yards so I took out the pitching wedge and made the shot of my life. It was a slight right to left draw shot that landed 15 inches below the hole and rolled up the slope and to my amazement into the hole. It was witnessed by my playing partners that Saturday afternoon which were Les Calder, Darryl Rankin and Calvin Enders.

Lynne Yule, Nanaimo Golf Club, Hole #8

Yes, March 26 was an exciting day! We were playing in our 18 hole Tuesday ladies league, with my playing partners – Wanda Cullen, Wanda Cox and Catherine Deutscher. Hole #8 was 112 yards uphill, and I used my 5 iron. We knew two of us landed on the green but when we walked up to the green, only one ball was there. We looked around the edges of the green, then is was suggested to look into the hole and there was my ball.

Liam Bracken, Copetown Woods, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Carded my first ever hole-in-one yesterday at Copetown Woods on hole #11. I am a Golf Canada member and always record my score on my app while playing. Playing 174 yards, I hit my 7 iron and two hopped the ball into the hole. Just a couple hours before the eclipse.

Brenda Lemky, Indian Canyons Golf Resort, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

On January 15, 2024 while golfing at Indian Canyons Golf Resort, where I am a member during the winter months. I was able to score two hole-in-ones in the same day, same round. The staff at the golf course contacted local news paper and a lovely lady, Kendall Balchan, from the Palm Springs Post contacted me and we had an interview. During the summer months I’m a member at Rivers Edge Golf Club in Okotoks, Alberta. As an avid golfer, I hope to inspire all levels of golfers to never think that getting your first hole-in-one isn’t going to happen to them as I did. Out of the blue it happened to me and the second was overwhelming and exhilarating. Never give up and first and foremost enjoy every moment of participating in an activity you love.

Penny Aston, Cimarron Golf Resort, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

March 7, 2024 was somewhat of an unusual day in Coachella Valley, Southern California as the wind was howling, gusting anywhere from 50 to 60 km/hour. When our ladies group, made up of many Snowbirds, teed off at the Cimarron Golf Resort, Palm Springs, on the par 3 Pebble Course, it was not particularly windy, but the wind grew increasingly challenging as the round progressed.

The Pebble Course meanders its way through what is called “The Wash”, which provides a place for run off from both the surrounding mountains and the city itself and which, when dry, is filled with dessert sand. My group was a threesome, including Darlene Sloan, Pam Generaux and myself. We, along with the other groups, were determined to complete the round even as the conditions worsened.

The ladies were chatting as I prepared to tee off on hole #10, an 83 yard hole, but with a front pin position of 70 yards. The wind was blowing directly at us so club selection was tricky, but I finally decided on an 8 iron. As I was putting my tee into the ground, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be fun to get a hole-in-one!” not really believing that anything would happen.

I took my swing and made solid contact with the ball watching it arch into the air towards the green while being held up by the wind. The ball landed on the green and curved towards the hole where it appeared to stop in mid roll at the pin because the wind was holding it on an angle; then, the ball dropped into the hole as the wind let up for a second, releasing the pin! I looked at the ladies and we we were all somewhat in disbelief at what we had just seen. Had I really just wished myself a hole-in-one? No way! The celebration began as the ladies were all thrilled with my luck, as was I, and quickly spread the news to the other groups while celebrating birdie or, in this case, hole-in-one juice.

Robby Frankel, Old Corkscrew Club, Hole #12

First one ever! Was playing with my little brother, Jed, and an older gentleman we were paired with that day whose name is slipping my memory. It was the hole #12, 120 yards, gap wedge into howling winds. The ball didn’t even hit the green, it was a slam dunk that destroyed the cup!

Thomas McDougall, Raven Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

On the final day of our golf trip to Arizona, playing with my three good friends at Raven Golf Club. It was our first golf trip since all of us had started to have kids.

Hole #14, 148 yards and slightly up hill. I hit a 9 iron that looked good the entire way. After it landed, it started to roll and the entire group started to shout thinking it could go in, and sure enough the ball disappeared. I said, “That either went in or rolled off the back” as we couldn’t see the entirety of the green. My two buddies in the other cart drove up to the green as fast as they could while I waited on the tee box with my hands on my head. They both ran to the green and looked in the hole and immediately threw their hands in the air and started screening. I sprinted from the tee box all the way to the green in celebration. My first hole-in-one. It was special to be able to do it with the group of guys I was with. It was a great moment.

Bruce Frey, Cottonwood Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I had my fifth hole-in-one at Cottonwood Golf Course in Nanaimo on March 20, 2024. I am 82 years old and started playing from the forward tees two years ago. This hole-in-one was on hole #11, a 70 yard par 3 over water and sand. I have had hole-in-one’s previously on hole #8, a 130 yard, hole #17 a 180 yard and two on hole #11, one from 70 yards and one from 135 yards. I was playing with my golf buddies Frank Hudson and Mike Zarecki.

Jeffrey Anderson, Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three buddies on February 11, 2024 at Vidanta Vallarta (Norman). The hole #7 is a drivable par 4 and I was fortunate to hit the perfect drive that day. I used my driver from 243 yards. The ball bounced on the green once before finding the bottom of the cup. I couldn’t see the ball after it bounced and we spent a while trying to find my ball before our caddie thought to look in the cup. Talk about a surprise! Anyway, I’ve had a hole-in-one before but never had an albatross so this was pretty exciting!

Gerard Cottreau, Moon Spa – Dunes to Jungle, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three others from the same resort where the course was located but didn’t know them. The hole was 134 yards and I used a pitching wedge.

Craig Ripley, Lely Resort Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit an 8 iron from 166 yards. It was a super high shot in a very strong crosswind that was hurting a little. It landed a few feet below the hole and disappeared soon after. I was pretty sure it went in, but wasn’t certain if I could see the bottom of the stick or not. Sure enough it was in.

I went up to the tee thinking I would hit an easy 7 iron to keep it lower because of the wind but when I went to take a practice swing I realized I had grabbed my 4 iron!

When I was on the deck I felt the 7 iron was too much club so I grabbed the 8 iron when I was swapping my 4 iron, and I’m sure glad I did!

I was playing with my in-laws Ken and Liz Bialkowski who are members at The Classics. Very memorable to do it with them. My mother-in-law actually witnessed another family member get an ace on the same hole several years ago. She’s wondering when it’s her turn!?

It was my first time out since the Fall and I wasn’t playing very well, so it’s kind of funny to get a hole-in-one when playing pretty poorly. It certainly salvaged the round.

Nathalie Dunn, Four Mile Ranch, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It is a great feeling. It was a blind shot so even more exciting. I was playing with my husband Kirk on March 23, 2024, around 2 p.m. All we knew from the guidebook and the score card is that it was 141 yards from the white so I used my 6 iron.

Noel Carragher, Creston Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

March 22, 2024, entered on March 25th. Course was Creston Golf Club. Hole #13 from 124 yards. Club was a pitching wedge and played with Arlene Parnell, Larry Maclean and Allen Blackwell.

Thomas Mündi Isford, Hollecrest Golf Club, Hole #17

I played with my close friend Dale Evans and a couple from Denver. The hole was 190 yards and I used my 3 wood as the wind was in our face.

Mark Chambers, Duncan Meadows Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #7 at Duncan Meadows is a short 117 yards up hill playing about 135 yards on this day! Pin placement was a white flag on the second tier of a narrow green! There was no wind to speak of and it was about five degrees and sunny late morning! It’s winter golf so I always take an extra club and this day I hit a 9 iron which I caught clean straight towards the flag! My playing partner said that it looked really good but it was a blind landing and I thought I was long!

When we got to the top of the hill no one hit the green with the two others short right and I figured I was long at the back of the green!

One of my playing partners, Mike Bates, also a member jokingly calls out to look in the hole! I laughed and walked over and there was my slightly used Titleist Pro V1 sitting nicely at the bottom of the cup! We were all pretty excited! Rest of the round was nothing to write home about, but it will be a day to remember for a long time to come!

My second hole-in-one in my life (first one in 2015). Wish I could tell you the names of my playing partners. My wife and I are wintering in San Diego and of the three partners, I only remember the first name of one of them (Jeff). This was my first time meeting them as I got grouped as a single. We know golf is a funny game. I was fairly tired from a bad night’s sleep and didn’t have much energy. I was playing quite badly so told everyone I’m going to stop after nine holes. Turns out the hole-in-one shot was pretty much the only good swing I had all day on hole #9. Guess that’s all you need. I played it from the green tees about 131 yards. Used a 5 iron. As soon as I hit the shot, I thought it might be close. Hit the green about two feet left of the pin, it spun dead right, and plunk! In the cup!

Huberte Landry, Aberdeen Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was done on February 10, 2024 at Aberdeen. I used an 8 iron and it was 108 yards. The witnesses were Richard Daunais and France Cloutier.

Marianna Tooley, Legends Golf & Country Club, Hole #15

It was unbelievable and I’m still not sure I can believe it yet. We golf at this course in January, February, and March as we are snowbirds. Everyone at this course is so friendly and we have so much fun with the starter, the bag handlers as well as the cart boys. The day of the golf game was sunny and hot but a beautiful day. The guys teed off first. They were my husband, Harry Hale, and our neighbour, Dave Badcock. Then the girls teed off; my neighbour, Kathy Badcock, and then me. I was at 87 yards so I used my 7 iron and wasn’t sure if I would get there. It was a middle right pin and hit left on the green and rolled with a nice curl to the hole. When it dropped in the hole there was a lot of screaming and cheering as you could believe. It was a super day.

Ryan Hutton, Tsawwassen Springs, Hole #4

I was with two members of my Langara men’s club league and my best friend Jay. It was 169 with a 4 hybrid landed in the cup and stayed in.

Paul Hopper, New Smyrna Beach, Hole #12

As a 62-year-old snow bird from Barrie, Ontario, I play the New Smyrna Beach Municipal at least twice a week. I was matched up by the starter with a couple of older gentlemen named Vic and Dave. It was 143 middle pin. I hit a 5 rescue club. Didn’t quite catch it and it hit just short left of the green. It was a low cutter that rolled out and disappeared. I didn’t get a picture as I use my Garmin watch now and don’t carry my phone here as much as I do at home. I play 200 rounds a year now and like many people have been very close before. It was 9:10 in the morning so I got off easy in the buying beers department. On a side note, I played the course a few days later. The pin hadn’t moved. So, I was very excited. Hit the same club. Actually, hit it much better. Landed pin high and rolled off back. Took a bogey. Crazy game.

I was with two of my girlfriends and the two of them had gone ahead of me. I proceeded to ask my girlfriend what club they used and one of the girls said she had used a 5 hybrid. Even though I’ve never really been that successful on hitting the green, I decided to use my 5 hybrid anyway. I got up to the tee and hit my ball and one of my friends watched and said you hit the flag I’m like “yeah okay, whatever” but we weren’t sure if in fact the ball went in the hole so as we proceeded to get up to the hole, we all looked in and sure enough the ball was in the hole. I screamed at the top of my lungs. It’s something that is just amazing to think that I actually got a hole-in-one, so it was very exciting. After that we had a one hour social in the clubhouse for anyone that wanted to join us in celebration of me getting my hole-in-one with free drinks for the hour, so it was a very exciting day.

Hole #12, 104 yards (into the wind), 8 iron, I clubbed up, light swing, good loft and directly went into the cup. I was playing with my friend and we both heard it all the way at the white tees blocks.

On September 18, 2023 I got a hole-in-one on hole #8 at Tangle Creek Golf Course in Barrie, Ontario. I used a 7 iron on the 147 yard hole. I was golfing with my brother-in-law Jerry Lukowski.

David Gurr, Victoria Park East Golf Club, Hole #6

Hi, my name is David Gurr and I got my first hole-in-one in 54 years of golfing! Yep, it finally happened for me! It happened at Victoria Park East Golf Club in Guelph, Ontario on April 12, 2023 during our first round of the year on the par 3 hole #6. The pin was front right 136 yards and I hit an 8 iron right at it, 2 bounces and in the hole it went. I was playing with my brother and two other long-time members. Seeing it was the opening day of the new 2023 season the course was packed with eager golfers, luckily, I had hole-in-one insurance and the bar tab was insured!

Gerry Tresierra, Big Horn Golf & Country Club, Hole #17

Almost scored a hole-in-one on hole #15 but on hole #17, it happened. 110 yards using my 9 iron! I was playing with John Silano, Les and Kirk! My first in 40 years and glad it happened on men’s night! I was awarded a medal from the Big Horn golf and country club along with some cash!

Donna Yost, Bear Mountain, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was at hole #14 on the mountain course. I used my TaylorMade 54 degree wedge to pop my lucky ball over the gully and master a one hop exciting hole-in-one. The distance to pin was approximately 64 yards. I took this photo above right before I hit the ball as it was so beautiful at that moment. The day had been a mixture of weather that could have sidelined the opportunity! Pouring sleet/rain and wind on hole #11 and 12. Cold and windy on the front nine. Crazy spring weather but us die hards hung in there and thankfully so! The ladies I was with for the momentous occasion were Danya Carter, Carla Anderson and Liz Stafford.

Mike Ebner, McCleery Public, Hole #3

Hole was playing 128 yards that day (into the wind), club was a pitching wedge. Played with fellow McCleery Club member Ron Wootton.

Chad Connelly, Lakeview Golf Club, Hole #17

I played with a father (Lee) and son (Dan). Dan lives in Etobicoke/Mississauga and Lee and his wife just moved back to Nova Scotia recently. Having lived in N.S. for over five years, we had a good chat about the region and the golf courses out there. When I asked if they were playing for anything, Dan said, “We don’t get to see each other very often so it’s just nice to get out and spend time with him.” How’s that for a feel good moment?

Standing on the 17th tee, the blocks were at the back of the deck and the laser revealed 104 to the front pin. I hit a smooth 50 degree which was right on target the entire way. It hit just past the pin by about five feet (can can see the pitch mark in my first image). It took a pretty sweet check-bounce and started trickling back towards the hole until it disappeared. Lee started cheering, “It’s in” but I still didn’t believe it having been close more than a few times only to find it sitting directly behind the pin. As I approached the green, sure enough, it wasn’t on the surface. It was in the hole.

I then birdied the very next hole (18) after landing my approach to one foot!

All-in-all, a funday and a pretty surreal moment on 17.

In traditional fashion, I bought Lee and Dan drinks on the patio, and we chatted a bit more before saying our goodbyes

Jeff Soltesz, El Rio Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in a weekly get together with friends from a condominium community in Fort Myers, Florida. We play El Rio in North Fort Myers every Thursday morning while us snowbirds are here in Southwest Florida. The same group of 16-24 people get shuffled about, so they try to have everyone play with everyone at least once. I cannot recall who precisely I was playing with that day, but I had three witnesses.

The hole was #7. It was playing 162 yards into a strong headwind. I hit a 5 iron and watched it land a little front and to the left on the green then it rolled for about 30 feet into the cup.

I’m on average what one would consider a bogey golfer…this was the second hole-in-one of my life.

I did take note of the fact that I was playing a higher quality ball that day (Taylor Made TP5) that was gifted to me and things just felt different/better. I normally play a more budget friendly ball (Noodle) because I didn’t think I could feel the difference, but now I’m starting to think differently. We’ll see how things go from here.

Stuart Dickinson, Penticton Golf & Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 9 iron from 137 yards, little baby draw and spun it back into the cup. My first hole-in-one. I played golf from 14-19 and then took it up again at 40 when I joined Fairview Mountain Golf Club.

Nicole Hunt, Yuma Golf & Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my husband. The hole is 145 yards to the middle and the flag was in the back so the yardage was closer to 150. I teed off with my driver. I could see I hit the green as was excited about that. As we are walking towards the green I could no longer see my ball and assumed I over drove the green. My husband started looking in the bunker in the left and I went off the green expecting to have to chip on. We couldn’t find my ball so I said to myself “no way”, I decided to go check the hole and there it was. I spend a lot of time on golf. We winter in Arizona and usually golf every day of the week except Saturdays.

The ball behind me in the picture is my husband’s ball. It’s my first hole-in-one.

Diana Kirkland, River Strand Golf & Country Club (Tributary/Estuary, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I started golfing casually with my husband’s old set of golf clubs back in 1989 participating in friendly games and tournaments with our family and friends, I never played more than two or three rounds per year. In 2004 I was started playing in corporate events while working as a sales representative, again only an additional two or three rounds a season.

In 2016 I purchased my first set of golf clubs so that I could play regularly at our winter residence at River Strand Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, Florida. Upon my retirement in 2017, I joined the private golf club that my husband was a member at, York Downs Golf and Country Club in Unionville, Ontario and started playing regularly during the 2018 season.

When golfing I am typically very relaxed but a rather fast golfer, I rarely take a practice swing and cruise quickly up the fairways in order to hit my next shot. On the greens I am not very good at reading putts so I typically just aim for the center of the hole and hope for the best result.

Generally, I am a very positive person and have a very optimistic view on life. Over the years I joke with my family and friends that on every par three I am going to get a hole-in-one. Everyone would laugh or smirk and my husband would shake his head indicating that “sure you are good luck once again.”

At 4:15 pm on Monday, January 1, 2024, my wish came true while playing in a foursome with my husband, Stephen Kirkland and our friends, Laurie Gain and her husband Roger Kennedy. We were playing at the River Strand Golf and Country Club, on the Tributary course, on the fifth hole, from the gold tees at 128 yards to the hole. I teed up a water-logged green Titleist “Velocity” golf ball that I pulled from the bottom of my bag so as not to lose one of my better balls into the lake that ran up the entire right side of the hole. The club I used was a TaylorMade Aero Burner 4 Rescue.

I hit the ball in the air right down the middle to the elevated green and watched the ball climb up onto the front of the green and roll down into a depression that runs horizontally across the center of the green. The ball tracked to the right side of the green and then disappeared. Roger Kennedy then announced that he heard the ball hit the pin, my husband indicated that he did not hear anything so we were all intrigued to find out where the ball ended up. I started walking along the shoreline of the lake with my ball retriever looking for stray golf balls in the lake while my friend, Laurie Gain started walking quickly to the green, curious to discover the final resting place of my tee shot. Laurie arrived at the green and did not see a ball on the green so while walking briskly to the hole she pulled out her mobile phone so she could video my reaction if indeed the ball was in the hole. At this point in time, I picked up my pace and started sprinting to the green while dragging along my pull cart. Laurie peered into the hole and then she threw her hands in the air and screamed, “It’s in the hole.” Everyone stated yelling and screaming and jumping around in a circle hugging each other while whooping it up until I finally bent over and pulled the water-logged golf ball out from the hole. Exhilarating is all I can say.

We completed the round and headed back to the Clubhouse to report the event to the Pro-Shop staff and have a drink in the Grill Room to celebrate my achievement. Upon our arrival back to the clubhouse we were disappointed that the Pro-Shop had closed, the Grill Room was closed and the Clubhouse Dining Room was closed because it was New Year’s Day. We packed up our golf equipment and we all headed back to our home and celebrate with a shot of Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey.

That night I woke up at 4:00 am in the morning and could not get back to sleep until I researched the odds of getting a hole-in-one. Apparently, the odds for getting a hole-in-one, according to Google are 12,500:1 for an amateur golfer and 2,500:1 for a professional golfer.

I guess that I am one of the lucky one’s!

I was playing with two other members of the Forty Niner Golf Club, Tom Koester and Frank Balcom. New Year’s Day. It was 161 yards and I used a 6 hybrid (Taylormade Stealth). It was one of those shots that felt good right as soon as I hit it. We watched it land on the green and roll straight to the pin and drop. This is my second hole-in-one within six months. My third overall.

My hole-in-one was on the par 3, sixth hole. About 100 yards. I used my 5 hybrid as I am not a long hitter. I hit the front of the green and the ball rolled to the left a few feet. My husband also happened to have two holes-in-one that year and we were written up in Golf Ontario magazine. Quite a thrill. However, it’s been a long 16-year draught for me since then. On January 7th we played at my favourite course just outside of The Villages, FL. It’s the Links at Spruce Creek and my husband and I played with very good friends Nan and Chuck. I was having a killer round with three birdies and then came to the 16th par 3. It was 117 yards and I used my 7-wood. When the ball left my club, it felt so pure. We watched it travel up the elevated green, heard it rattle the pin and then watched it disappear in the hole! I then went on to have my personal best round EVER, with a 76. Definitely a day to remember for a long time.

Caroline Calderone, Lambton Golf & Country Club, Hole #8

Thursday, June 21, the start of Summer Solstice was super exciting at Lambton Golf Club! I am somewhat of a new golfer and member at Lambton since 2019. I have been taking lessons from Ann Carroll, one of Lambtons amazing golf pros, to help me improve my game for my ladies Valley league.

My friend, and Lambton member, Mary Fernandes were enjoying the gorgeous afternoon when I teed off on the 8th hole about 130 yards using my Taylor Made M2 driver. The sun made it difficult to see where my ball landed but Mary said wow I think it went in the hole. Of course I started laughing with a no chance disbelief but when I approached the green and could not find my ball, I looked in the cup and could not believe my eyes! I screamed with excitement and another golfer came running over to take pictures. A truly incredible moment I won’t forget!!

The funny part is afterwards I was sitting with my husband Michael and people were coming up to congratulate Mr. Calderone with big smiles I was able to correct them and say sorry it was Mrs. Calderone.

Lisa Nye, Estrella del Mar Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

It was a beautiful day in Mazatlan at the Estrella del Mar Golf and Country Club. I was on a golf trip with our Golf Professional, Debbie Janes. When I got my hole-in-one, I was playing with three other friends: Naz Sicherman, Elizabeth Bryden and Lisa Farrell. I hit my tee shot with an 8 iron on the 13th hole, 120 yard par 3, with a front right pin. It was a nice high shot that landed and rolled over a slight hill on a raised green. When we got to the green I was looking around for my ball thinking it had rolled off the green then Elizabeth said, “Uh, there is a ball in the hole”. It was very exciting – my first hole-in-one! We all shouted and hugged.

Terrance Hartwick, Whiskey Creek Country Club, Hole #16

Hole #16, and was playing 114 yards from the Blues that day. The Ranger was sitting by the green and was the first one to confirm it was in the hole. I’m 70 years old and have been golf seriously for about 2 1/2 years. My handicap is 24. Members of the foursome in front of us drove back to congratulate me on the course, (nice touch I thought). Club was a Callaway 3 rescue club, the oldest club in my bag and the most used. Ball was a Titleist 2. My playing partner of that day was my loving wife, Jackie Larouche Hartwick who deserves honourable mention because as she reminded me it has been all her great golf tips over the years that enabled the hole-in-one in the first place, and she’s not wrong.

John Esposto, Willowbrook, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first time out golfing this year in Florida. My friend Bob and I booked Willowbrook to get our first game in and also to see Alligators sunning themselves on the side of the ponds. Bill H. From Ontario joined us as a third.

After two double bogeys on the first two holes we came to the par 3 hole #3 at 143 yards. Normally I’d use a 7 iron but since it was the first time out I used a 6 iron.
I said to myself keep your head down and follow through the ball, to prevent “premature admiration”! I have this problem often! It felt great off the club and a nice follow through. I seen it land on the green and roll towards the hole. Then I lost sight of it thinking I was long and went over to the back of the green.

When we drove up to the green my ball was nowhere to be found. Bill looks in the hole and there it was my third hole-in-one. I had a hard time concentrating the rest of the game and proceeded to shoot 49/53 for 102! Not bad for the first time out! This was my third hole-in-one with the first one coming in 1985 at Cherokee Golf Course in Hamilton!

Peter Jarvis, Pelican Preserve Golf Club, Hole #7

What a pleasant surprise receiving this note and the attached photo of the hole as we did not go back to photograph it.

I was partnering with a friend who is also a member of my home course Deerhurst Highlands and Pelican Preserve. We also had a father and son two-some who joined us Ken (member) and Steve his son.

It is a short hole – 155 yards on a Florida still rising incline until the green with water in front and the wind was blowing directly towards us. I pulled out a longer yardage club – my 5 wood – teed it up a bit and gave it a good stoke. It went high – seemed to almost stop in the wind and bounced on the curtain of the green just past the sandbox. The green had a slight downward slope away from us and pin was at the back so we couldn’t see where the ball ended up.

My partner remarked that was going to be a just dandy shot and Ken then hit one that landed close to mine and also looked like it had good shape. When we approached the green from different sides we both saw 1 ball close to the hole and both started looking for the other. I got there first to check if it was mine, pointed to Ken it was his and he eyeballed the cup – I went doubtfully towards the flag and lo and behold there she rested.

The rest is history and my back 9 was saved from the 2 doubles and 2 bogies that started it.

Paul Bordignon, Pitt Meadows Golf Club, Hole #7

It was a 7 iron from 158 yards, I was playing with my friends and fellow Pitt Meadows Golf Club members Connor Sam and James. Hit it right at it and it was 2 hops and in and the crowd went wild.

Stu Murphy, Golf Club of Estrella, Hole #7

I was playing with my girlfriend and a father and son from Seattle.

It was 171 yards with lucky number 7 iron.

Frank Enns, Estrella Del Mar, Hole #6

I was playing with Rod Kaasa of Edmonton and Rob Parker of Comox. The 6th hole at Estrella del Mar was playing at 106 yards over water.  It is my 5th hole-in-one on that hole. Ironically, I have now made 5 aces on that hole, from 3 different tee boxes and FIVE different clubs: Gold(9i), Blue(PW), and White(50 degree wedge, 52 degree wedge, and 56 degree wedge). This one was made with my 50 degree wedge. It landed approximately 5’ past the hole and spun back into the cup. It is my 7th ace in my life. I’m 72 years of age.

Jim Sirup, Eagle Falls Golf Course, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

My 3rd hole-in-one! We were playing at Eagle Falls, Indio, California. Our foursome included my wife Karen and also playing with us, visiting from Kansas City, were Jeff & Sharon Alton. The big moment came at hole number 9. The hole was playing 174 yards, slight uphill to an elevated green. I used a 4 hybrid. The ball landed at the front part of the green, rolled to a back pin location and… disappeared! So, so exciting!

Jenifer Jones, Sandpiper Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my very first hole-in-one ever! I played golf as a junior, but then took a 25 year hiatus to finish my degrees and get established in my career as a physiotherapist owning 3 private clinic now.

I returned to golf in 2020 during Covid as a mental health escape and realized how much I love the game! I started back in lessons, and dedicated a lot of time to my game. I have been the Women’s Club Champion at Sandpiper Golf the last 3 years in a row and log over 150 games/year.

My hole-in-one was on hole #7 at Sandpiper, a par 3. I was playing from the white tees at had 99 yards to the pin. There is a hill off to the right of the green that rolls balls to the left – I landed there and rolled left onto the green and PLOP into the hole! Maybe not the prettiest hole-in-one, but a hole-in-one non-the-less.

Alison Murdoch, Victoria Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was at Victoria Golf Club, one of the very few golf clubs open in Canada at this time of year. It was on the 13th hole, playing 117 yards that day with an 8 iron. You can see my friend Berne in this picture; I was also playing with Sunny who was the one who found the ball in the hole. It hit a tree and none of us saw where it went until Sunny took the flag out for Berne to putt. The men in the group behind us waited patiently on the tee while we took a few pictures. I guess they were happy to anticipate the hole-in-one drink they would be enjoying later.

Trish Jordan, Westbrook Village Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with some American friends who I have met at our amazing golf course community at Westbrook Village in Peoria,  AZ. They were: Jackie Boman, Dawn Prahl and Sharon Bolender. I think they were more excited than I was because they told me they had never seen a hole-in-one before.

I was playing the second hole at the Vistas Golf Course at Westbrook Village in Peoria. I am a snowbird who just retired last year and now have a bit more time to spend in Arizona.

It was a Blue pin. I estimated 125 yards. I choked up on a 7 iron (like Brook Henderson). I hit a pretty good shot but thought it might roll out and go long. But nope. It disappeared and I was like: Wow!

There is a tradition at the club that you donate your hat with the information and they post the hat on the wall of the bar in the clubhouse. So I did that too.

I have had 3 previous hole-in-ones but think this was the first in about 15 years and my first ever in the US. Not to bad for a 61 year old retiree!

Deb Harmidy, Mantarraya Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my good friend Linda Macpherson and another woman who I did not know. There was a strong headwind so I decided to use my 7 wood on the 118 yard hole #11 at Mantarraya golf course in Rio Hato, Panama. The shot felt great off the tee but with the sun in our face, we couldn’t track the ball. What a great feeling to find my ball in the cup!

Tammy Bigelow, Desert Princess, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my hole-in-one January 27th at Desert Princess in Palm Springs, CA as you already know. After recovering from tri level fusion in my back in 2019 I am so happy to be able to golf and my index is a 22 which I am proud of after such a recovery. My husband Wayne and I were playing with a friend of ours Byron and we were just about finished our round, playing Lagos 8 which is the 17th for my round, an elevated tee box and a turtle back green. I had actually just lost a ball to the water on #16 so I was deflated and I was getting tired. My husband says, “dig deep here honey” we are almost finished and you have a great round going! I grab my 6 iron so I don’t have to swing hard as I know my body is done this round. He says… “carry it 85, land it in the middle and just let it release to the pin which was a right, uphill then downhill lie approximately 118 yards”. So, I am thinking to myself, my 6 iron is too much. I go back to the cart and grab my 7 iron. It flies perfectly, lands nice and soft, I bend over to pick up my tee because I think that was good… hopefully it stays on the green when suddenly, the guys are shouting “go in the hole!” I missed most of it because I just thought they were yelling that as everyone tends to when you have a great shot, but I was happy to see it in the bottom of the cup!

Howie Cunningham, Eagle Quest Golf Course, Hole # 7

I’ve played golf in my earlier years not so often but in the last 2-3 years my son Aaron (24) years has gotten me into golfing seriously. We play at Eagle Quest Golf Course in Coquitlam BC. Canada. 3-4 times a week. Par 3 course, 9 hole.

We’ve got very close to hole-in-one’s but on February 19 , 2023 at 2:20 pm. I made an unbelievable tee off to receive my first hole-in-one. 81 yards on Hole #7. My son and I still can believe it today as we’re so happy.

Kyle Lagerstrom, TPC of Scottsdale, Hole #3

We were in Arizona for a golf trip for my cousins stag. This course was gorgeous, nicest course any of us had ever played. My cousin and I were paired together with two guys we met at the course, and the other 3 guys in our group were playing right behind us.

We got to hole #3 and I ranged the pin at 122 yards. Usually that would be a pitching wedge for me but the green was a little bit below the tee box so I used my Gap wedge. I struck the ball pretty good and it was heading just a little bit left of the pin. It landed about 10′ left of the pin and a few feet long. I got a nice kick to the right off of the slope of the green and it started rolling towards the pin. We got to watch it roll closer and closer to the pin until it dropped! My cousin and I looked at each other and started cheering and jumping on the tee box with the two other guys we had just met. My cousin is in the picture in the pink hat. (Not his first choice of hat but we made him wear it). I learnt that apparently when you get a hole-in-one you have to pick up the bill at the bar at the 19th hole which made for a great time. All in all made for a trip we will never forget! Couldn’t have picked a better spot to get an ace!

Brett Kury, Superstition Springs Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an awesome moment given that this was my second ace ever (my first was at Ledgeview GCC, home to Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin in May of 2018, hole #17!) and THIS time I got to actually see it roll in! At Superstition Springs GC they’ve switched the nines there, so it actually happened on the 6th hole (old 15th) 173 yards, I hit my 6 iron with a nice high draw, one big bounce then just tracked straight into the hole! A fun day to be sure and It was witnessed by three partners from Minnesota (one who now lives in Mesa, and two just visiting).

Mac Shiells, Arcadian Shores Golf Club, Hole #17
