LACHUTE, Que. – Lucas Zhao earned his first NextGen Championship and Yeeun (Jenny) Kwon won her second at the 2026 NextGen Quebec Championship at Club de golf Lachute in Lachute, Que. on Wednesday.
Zhao of Brossard, Que. entered the final round one stroke behind the leader Zack Bourgeois of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Que. Zhao had a hot start with four bridies on the front nine to sit at 11-under at the turn. Bourgeois birdied hole nos. 3 and 7 but followed with consecutive bogeys to close his first nine at 8-under. Bourgeois made a good push but came up short finishing at 12-under through three rounds.
Zhao added four birdies on the back nine to finish the tournament at 14-under and secure his first NextGen Championship title. He recorded rounds of 67-70-65-202 and carded 18 birdies through three rounds.
Kwon of Vancouver, B.C. entered the final round as the solo leader at 4-under with a three-shot lead. Kwon finished the final round with a 1-under 71 to finish the tournament at 5-under to win by one over Léonie Tavares of Saint Jérôme, Que. Kwon recorded round 70-70-71-211 and carded 10 birdies to secure her second NextGen Championship victory.
Kwon’s previous win on the NextGen Championship circuit came at the 2025 NextGen Western Championship at Trestle Creek Golf Resort in Entwistle, Alta. This season, in addition to her win in Quebec, Kwon has earned two runner-up finishes at the NextGen Pacific and NextGen Western Championships.

The field of 154 players (101 Junor Boys and 53 Junior Girls) teed off Monday with a cut following Tuesday’s second round.
The 2026 NextGen Championship series concludes at Hampton Golf Club Hampton, N.B. for the playing of the NextGen Atlantic Championship. Practice rounds will get underway on Monday, July 13, followed by 54-holes, set to kick off on Tuesday, July 14 and wrap up on Thursday, July 16.

About the NextGen Championships
The NextGen Championships are a high-performance junior golf series which totals six competitions. From May to July, six championships will take place across Canada where the region’s best junior golfers will compete to earn exemptions into their respective 2026 national championships. NextGen Championships provide junior players an opportunity to develop and showcase their skills at the highest level of tournament golf.
