Taylor Pendrith came within one putt of a second PGA Tour title on Sunday before falling to Steven Fisk in a playoff at the ISCO Championship.
The Richmond Hill, Ont., native carded a five-under 65 to erase a four-shot deficit and finish tied with Fisk at 16-under 264 after 72 holes at Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, Ky.
Fisk secured the victory on the third playoff hole after Pendrith missed a 10-foot par putt on the par-4 18th. The American two-putted for par from 28 feet to earn the second PGA Tour win of his career.
“Obviously, it’s quite disappointing, but a ton of positives this week,” Pendrith said.
Pendrith, 35, put himself in position with one of the low rounds of the day before forcing extra holes. He narrowly missed a birdie opportunity on the first playoff hole, racing a nine-foot putt four feet past the cup.
“I’ve been struggling a lot with the putter this year,” Pendrith said. “Couldn’t really feel my hands at all on both of those putts.”
Despite the runner-up finish, Pendrith continued his strong play after seeking his second career PGA Tour victory. He rises to No. 79 on the FedEx Cup ledger with just a few events remaining.
Fisk closed with a three-under 67 before prevailing in the playoff. The victory earns the 29-year-old a spot in next year’s PGA Championship.
Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ont., also contended, shooting a final-round 66 to finish one stroke out of the playoff at 15 under, tied for third with Aaron Wise.
