She Plays Golf Championship Recap

The 2026 She Plays Golf Championship Series presented by Audi concluded on July 16 in Ontario at the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada at Smith Falls Golf and Country Club, wrapping up the three-event series.
The series began in British Columbia at the GOLFBC Group BC Women’s Open at Nicklaus North Golf Course in Whistler. Team Canada member Tillie Claggett captured the title, finishing the tournament at 3-under par. From there, the action continued in Alberta for the Peloton Glencoe Invitational, at The Glencoe Golf & Country Club in Calgary, where Team Canada member Katie Cranston came out on top at 3-under par. Her win earned her an exemption into the CPKC Women’s Open for a third straight year through the She Plays Golf Championship Series presented by Audi. The final stop in Ontario saw Team Canada NextGen member Eileen Park take the title at the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada, finishing at 4-under par. In addition to the three tournament champions, Team Canada member Lauren Zaretsky was awarded the She Plays Golf Championship Series Order of Merit, which is given to the athlete with the top overall points across all three competitions. Lauren Zaretsky’s consistent performance earned her the fourth and final exemption into the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open.
Congratulations to Tillie, Katie, Eileen and Lauren for their outstanding performances. We look forward to cheering them on as they compete at the CPKC Women’s Open this August 19-23 at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta.

Rules Simplified: Bunkers
Uh oh—your ball landed in the bunker! Before you enjoy your beach day, make sure you know the rules of playing from a bunker to avoid getting an unnecessary penalty.
What you can do:
- Remove loose impediments like leaves, stones and twigs
- Remove movable obstructions like rakes, water bottles and trash
- Dig your feet into the sand to create a stable stance
What you can’t do:
- Deliberately touch the sand with your hand or club to test its condition (such as texture, depth, or moisture).
- Touching or brushing the sand with your club during a practice swing
- Grounding your club directly in front of or behind the ball
Don’t forget to rake the bunker when you’re finished – its good etiquette and the next golfer will thank you!
Different Golf Formats
Looking to mix things up from your usual round? If you want a break from stroke play, you’re in the mood for team play, or just feel like trying something new, there are so many ways to enjoy golf on the course. Here are a couple of formats to try during your next round!
What is a scramble?
- Scramble is a fun and popular team format. In a scramble, everyone tees off, then the group chooses the best shot. From there, everyone plays their next shot from that spot and you keep doing that all the way to the hole. The best part? There’s less individual pressure, more high-fives and some great laughs along the way. It’s fast, social and perfect for golfers of all levels.
How to play alternate shot?
- Alternate shot is also about teamwork but with a twist. You’ll play in teams of two, but instead of each hitting your own ball, you take turns hitting the same ball. One partner tees off, the other hits the next shot and you alternate all the way to the pin (hence the name alternate shot). On the next hole? You switch who starts and do it all over again. This format is all about communication, trusting your partner and hoping for the best.
