SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda — Corey Conners and Ben Silverman led the Canadian contingent with a tie for third at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship after strong winds forced officials to shorten the PGA Tour event to 54 holes.

Conners, of Listowel, Ont., and Silverman, of Thornhill, Ont., finished at 14-under-par 199 alongside American Taylor Moore, two strokes behind Austin Smotherman and Ireland’s Seamus Power.

Both Canadians shot rounds of 63, 67 and 69 at Port Royal Golf Course, earning US$318,000 and 145 FedEx Cup points apiece.

Silverman matched his best finish of the season, having also tied for third at the ISCO Championship in July. It was his second top-five finish of 2026.

The result lifted Silverman 26 places to 117th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, improving his chances of retaining full playing privileges for 2027. The top 100 at the conclusion of the fall schedule earn exempt status for next season.

Conners strengthened his position in the race for spots at next year’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational. Players who finish 51st through 60th in the final fall standings qualify for those two signature events through the Aon Next 10.

Sunday’s final round never began because of strong winds. With Monday’s forecast also unfavourable, officials declared the results final through three rounds and scheduled a playoff to determine the champion.

Smotherman defeated Power with a par on the third playoff hole Monday, securing his second consecutive PGA Tour victory after winning the Bank of Utah Championship earlier this month.

Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., tied for 17th at 10 under. A.J. Ewart of Coquitlam, B.C., and Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton tied for 25th at nine under, while Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C., tied for 59th at four under.

Taylor Pendrith and Matthew Anderson both missed the cut after finishing two rounds at four under.
