Four Canadians set for 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Four Canadians will be in the field when the 126th U.S. Open Championship begins Thursday at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont., Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ont., and Sudarshan Yellamaraju of Mississauga, Ont., are among the 156 players competing in the year’s third men’s major championship.

Taylor will be the first Canadian to tee off from the first tee, beginning his championship at 8:03 a.m. EDT alongside Australia’s Adam Scott and England’s Harris English.

Conners, who qualified through the 2025 TOUR Championship, is grouped with New Zealand’s Ryan Fox and Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune. The two-time PGA TOUR winner will start at 1:25 p.m. from the first tee.

Yellamaraju earned his place in the field as one of the top five players in the 2026 FedEx Cup standings not already exempt as of May 18. He will play alongside Denmark’s Niklas Nørgaard and Spain’s Rocco Repetto Taylor, beginning Thursday at 12:30 p.m. from the first tee.

Silverman secured his spot through final qualifying and is paired with Belgium’s Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo. He will begin play at 7:08 a.m. from the 10th tee.

Shinnecock Hills, hosting the U.S. Open for the sixth time, will play to 7,440 yards as a par 70.

Defending champion J.J. Spaun heads a field that includes former U.S. Open champions Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick, Wyndham Clark, Gary Woodland, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson.

Among the notable groupings for the opening two rounds are Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Åberg and Tommy Fleetwood; DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland and Fitzpatrick; and Rahm, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose.

The championship runs June 18-21.
