PONOKA, Alta. – Ryan Mosher battled from behind while Saylar May’s two late birdies helped to secure their respective wins in the 2026 NextGen Western Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort in Ponoka, Alta. on Saturday.
Mosher of Saskatoon, Sask. was two strokes back of the leader heading into the final round on Saturday. Mosher started his round with three birdies to put himself one stroke behind the lead. He struggled at the start of the back nine but pulled through with birdies on holes 14 and 17 to tie the lead heading into the 18th.
Mosher recorded a par on no.18 to finish 4-under and secure the win and his second NextGen Championship title. Mosher recorded rounds of 69-70-67-206 and carded 11 birdies through three rounds. Mosher’s previous win on the NextGen Championship circuit came in 2024 at the NextGen Prairie Championship at the Whitewater Golf Club in Thunder Bay, Ont.
May of Rocky Mountain House, Alta. entered the final round two shots back of the leader, Yeeun (Jenny) Kwon of Vancouver B.C. and shot an even par 70 to finish the tournament at 8-over and secure the Girls division title. May recorded rounds of 73-75-70-218 and carded seven birdies through three rounds, including two on the back nine on Saturday to earn her first win on the NextGen circuit three shots clear of Kwon.

The field of 154 players (115 Junior Boys and 39 Junior Girls) teed off Thursday with a cut following Friday’s second round.
The NextGen Championship series continues June 19-21 at Neepawa Golf & Country Club in Neepawa, Man. For the playing of the NextGen Prairie Championship. Practice rounds will get underway on Thursday, June 18, followed by 54-holes, set to kick off Friday, June 19 and wrap up on Sunday, June 21.

About the NextGen Championships
The NextGen Championships are a high-performance junior golf series which totals six competitions. From May to July, six championships will take place across Canada where the region’s best junior golfers will compete to earn exemptions into their respective 2026 national championships. NextGen Championships provide junior players an opportunity to develop and showcase their skills at the highest level of tournament golf.
