CALEDON, Ont. – The second round of the 2026 Canadian Junior Girls Championship, presented by BDO was suspended twice on Wednesday due to inclement weather, before being called for the day at 5:40 p.m. EDT. Play will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (Heathlands Course) in Caledon, Ont.
The horn sounded at 1:12 p.m. due to lightning in the area. Play was able to resume over two hours later at 3:30 p.m. before being called again at 5:40 p.m. with 75 players being able to finish their round from the morning wave. The final groups of the day were unable to complete their first hole leaving the inter-provincial team championship to be awarded on Thursday.
Co-leader Evelyn Ma of Markham, Ont. was able to finish her second round, carding a 1-under 70 to move to 3-under for the tournament. Ma was sitting at 3-under for her round before closing with a pair of bogeys to finish with a 70.
Two-time defending champion Shauna Liu of Maple, Ont. is currently 1-under through three holes as is Zixuan Tan of Montreal, Que. to both sit 3-under for the tournament, tied with Ma for the lead.
In the Juvenile division, Ma and Tan remain tied at 3-under in the race of the Florence Harvey Trophy. Players in the field under the age of 17 as of August 1, 2026 are eligible to compete in the Juvenile division.
Team Alberta remains in the lead for the Mary Pyke Trophy, sitting at 3-over through three holes and 6-over overall, with Team Ontario currently at even par through three holes and 7-over for the championship.
The third round is expected to begin at 1:30 p.m. following the conclusion of round two and the cut being made.
The Canadian Junior Girls Championship was first contested in 1955 and operated by the former Canadian Ladies Association (CLGA) until the amalgamation of CLGA and Royal Canadian Golf Association (now Golf Canada) in 2005.
The Canadian Junior Girls Championship has a long list of distinguished past champions that have etched their name on the Brokenshire Trophy. Past champions include Canadian Golf Hall of Famers Lisa Meldrum (2000), Alena Sharp (1999), Sandra Post (1964-66), Betty Stanhope (1956), Judy Darling (1957), Gail Harvey Moore (1958-1960) and Gayle Borthwick (1961). LPGA Tour players Maude-Aimée Leblanc (2006), Brooke Henderson (2012) and Maddie Szeryk (2013) also lifted the Brokenshire Trophy. Stollery Family Team Canada Women’s Head Coach Salimah Mussani (1996, 1998) is also a past Canadian Junior Girls Champion.
The 2026 Canadian Junior Girls champion will receive an exemption into the 113th Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and both the 2027 Canadian Junior Girls Championship and 2027 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, if eligible.
