Nick Lepine, Hillcrest Golf Club, Hole #12

It was a beautiful evening in Moosejaw, next to no wind. The course was booked up solid for Toonie Tuesday at the Hillcrest. William Coutts, Arden Ausland and I snuck out to the back 9 to start our round. We got to #12, the group in front of us was still on the green. I shot the one gentleman who appeared a few paces past the hole at 183, perfect for a smooth Nike Vapor 6 iron. My go to shot is a baby fade, so when I teed up my red vice pro plus, I was aimed to the left side of the green. The moment the ball left the club I knew I hit it well. The boys liked it the whole way. The ball landed a foot left and three feet past. With the cut spin it rolled straight for the hole. To see that red vice disappear was very surreal. I’ve played a lot of golf. Feels great to finally be part of the ace club!

Rob Vinje, Springbank Links Golf Course, Hole #2

My second hole-in-one but 32 years apart. The first one was down in Lethbridge at Paradise Canyon on hole #2 in 1991!

For this one, I was playing with my buddies Oggie (Jeff Ogden) and Zman (Alvin Szott). I hit a pitching wedge 136 yards and it hit the left side hill and rolled to the right just like a putt into the hole! I still haven’t got my voice back from screaming in excitement!

Runfei Yang, Morgan Creek Golf Course, Hole #3

On August 12th, I played at Morgan Creek with Jason Li, Feng Lv, and Lily Liu. On the par 3 third hole, measuring 185 yards to the left back flag, I used a 5 iron to execute a draw shot. The ball landed to the right of the green and proceeded to roll all the way into the hole. Due to the elevated green, all four of us witnessed the ball rolling directly into the hole throughout its journey. It was an exhilarating moment. This marked my very first hole-in-one, and it happened on my home course, making it an extraordinary and meaningful experience!

Trevor Parry, Lakeview Golf Club, Hole #17

Yes, it was an amazing moment for me. I have been a weekend hacker for many years and this season upon retiring I began to commit to playing more frequently and improving.

I play weekly on Wednesdays with a core group of guys at Lakeview. The ace actually happened on Wednesday the eighth. It was Micheal Oleary, Lucky Bajwa and me.

p> We got to the 17th tee closely tied on stapleford points, playing from the blues. It was 95 yards to the middle where they had placed the flag. I stepped up with my pitching wedge and after a quick practice swing, I took my shot.

p> The ball flight was dead centre in line with the flag and after one bounce and a roll it plopped right in. I couldn't believe it saying to the guys, "I think it's in!"

p> Upon walking up to the green I verified it, and it was high fives all around. My good friend Gurmit Thiara was in the group behind along with his uncle Surinder and our mutual friend Raj.

p> They came up after finishing the 16th to our cheers and woos. Of course, it was drinks all around at the clubhouse afterwards.

Bo Bennett, Blomidon Golf and Country Club, Hole #3

Great day!

Brett Allan, Olds Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in a club run match play event against James MacDonald. Jay Rosehill was also playing with us. It was a 132-yard shot and I used a 50-degree gap wedge. This is my second hole-in-one.

Brian King, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #4 and approximately 145 yards over water. I hit five feet over the pin and spun back. First hole-in-one ever. I used a 7 iron. I used a Callaway Crome soft ball. Playing partners were Whitevale members Bob Nebel, Steven Rodriguez and Jim Glover. I was in a friendly quota points game and got eight points for that hole. Took a triple on the next hole.

Calven Wang, Ledgeview Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ace at Ledgeview Golf Course on hole #17 at 131 yards. The course was in tournament conditions as we sponsored the PGA of Canada Seniors Championships and got to play the course after the last group teed off. I didn’t see the ball go in, but the group in front of us gave us the live play-by-play of the ball landing and spinning back into the hole. Surreal to get congratulated by former PGA Tour and current Champion Tour players and was given the 17th hole flag with autographs.

Carlyle Humeston, Cowichan Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a few other members, and we teed off from the gold tees on hole #6 which is a par 3 and was 150 yards from the pin. I was using a Cobra 8 iron and a Titleist Pro V1.

Craig MacLeod, Petitcodiac Valley Golf and Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

My playing partners were JP Drapeau, Mike Gaudet and Rob Hancock. The hole was about 185 yards, and I used a 5 iron. It’s a blind green and you can only see the top of the flag from the tee box. I thought that I had left the ball short. There were two balls at the front of the green when we walked up, and I assumed one was mine. Mike walked around green looking for a ball. Finally, he said, “better look in the cup” and there it was. I thought it was his and was shocked to learn it was mine.

Darryl McGillivray, Sleepy Hollow Golf and Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing Sleepy Hollow Golf & Country Club with my son Jake. On hole #15 from 130 yards to the center of the green pin. I hit a pitching wedge; we saw it bounce twice but didn’t see it go in because of the slight ridge on the green. We drove up to the green and I said, “Where’s my ball, there’s no way it was long.” We ran out onto the green and it was in the cup!

David Thistle, Seymour Golf & Country Club , Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Great day! It was 173 yards.

Debbie Young, Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two of my fellow members, one a Canadian and the other an American. It was 128 yards, with wind into us and I used a 6 hybrid.

Ella Hillier, Loyalist Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 85 yards, and I did not see it go in. My two friends started jumping up and down with joy!

Ian Emberley, Twenty Valley Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Maria Peplowski and Sandy Burrows. I used a 6 hybrid. The distance was 157 yards.

Jackie Menard, Derrick Golf and Winter Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 147 yards and I used a 3 wood. I was playing with Carla Duncan and Heather Tansem.

Kathy Binns, Sunnydale Golf Society, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit my hole-in-one on hole #4. The yardage is 115 on the score card and the pin was at the back. I hit my 8 iron and it was a beautiful shot that bounced at the front of the green and rolled into the hole. It was witnessed by the spotter for the hole as it was the ‘closest to the pin’ hole. I was playing with Pat Peden (Sunnydale member) as well as Jenny Steele and Nancy Riva both from the Comox Course.

Kerry Diotte, Highlands Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my hole-in-one on Saturday August 12, 2023, on hole #16 at Highlands Golf Club in Edmonton using a 4-hybrid from 182 yards. I was playing with my wife Clare Denman (with me in photo) and our friends Darrell and Jacquie Holowaychuk.

Kevin Koetke, Uplands Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I used an 8 iron from 152 into the wind on a rope. One hop and in. I was playing with Dave Brown, Randy Price and Barry Hornsberger.

Kirk Gamley, Capilano Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit an 8 iron from 159 yards and played a little downhill. What was amazing for me is I was playing with my two sons Luke and Ben who are very avid golfers and play on the MJT Tour regularly as well as another junior member from our club. Dad was a hero for a few moments as I think the boys were even more excited than me.

Kyle Hoeght, Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I used my Titleist wedge, and it was 127 yards. I was playing with my regular Friday group.

Logan Bunn, Mountain Woods Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with two older gentlemen. had 120 yards to a white middle pin with a little wind left to right. I pulled out my 50-degree wedge when I made the hole-in-one.

Madeleine Carter, Heron Side at Cardinal Lakes, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a very windy day, and I was playing with my friend Linda Duliban. I had been telling my friends since the season opened that I was going to get a hole-in-one this year as it had been three years since my last one. Lo and behold we are playing Heron side at Cardinal Lakes in Welland, Ontario. There was very strong wind that day, and I played a five hybrid as the hole was playing about 120 into the wind. She was excited as she was sure it had gone in, and I thought it went off the back. As we got to the flag, it was in!

Marc Mammoletti, Wooden Sticks Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

In the first round of a three-day golf trip with 24 guys, I made a hole-in-one at Wooden Sticks in Uxbridge on the second hole which is a par 4.

The hole measured 284 from the yardage tile of the white tees and using my driver, I hit a drive that took off on a direct line with the flagstick which was on the left side of the green. The ball just cleared the top of the bunker and my group never saw it again. We drove up and saw no ball on the green or at the back rough. I cautiously walked to the hole and didn’t see it at first but took another step closer and it was tucked on the near side at the bottom of the cup. It was witnessed by Greg Lewis, Neil Slater and Rob Park.

It was my first hole-in-one and probably on one of the more unlikely holes at the course.

Mark McRae, Hole #10, Lakeview Golf Course

temp alt for theme iandt

Best day of my life!

Mark Johnson, The Okanagan Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Darcy Sigfuson in our annual Men’s club match play tournament. I was three down after 10. Hole #11 is 165 yards slightly down hill and it was playing down wind. My opponent had just hit it over the green, so I choked down on a 9 iron and swung easy. I just wanted to make sure it was on the green and below the hole for an easy birdie putt. I hit it pure landing about five yards on, ball rolled out and dropped.

This flipped the match for me as I won the 12th with a birdie, won the 13th and 14th giving me a one up lead in the match which I was able to hang onto closing it out on hole #18.

Marty Floris, Omineca Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

The second hole is 195 yards so I used a 6 iron. My golfing group consisted of myself, Brian Naka, Ernie Thiessen and Steve Silver.

Mason Moorhead, Whitevale Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 163 yards, I hit a 7 iron and I was playing with a kid named Dylan who’s a member at Whitevale.

Matthew McClure, The Pulpit Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my third hole-in-one, after a wait of 17 years between the others. It was #16 at The Paintbrush, measuring 182 yards that day. Looking forward to chasing number four!

Michael Elliot, Equinelle Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the third hole at Equinelle Golf Club, my home course, on the first day of our Club Championship. I used a 6 iron for the blue pin approximately 170 yards into a slight breeze. My fellow golfers were Justin Calow and Steven Eardley.

Mike Perry, Glacier Greens Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve been golfing since my teen years, and now in my sixties, and this is my first ace ever but hopefully not the last. I was playing at Glacier Greens Golf Course with friends Ken McDonald and Frank Nadon. I hit my Ping I500 6 iron to a 180 yard downwind blue flag pin. One bounced in front of the green and rolled up the green and into the cup on the back of the green. The funny thing is because it was an early morning round, and the sun was in our face, green in the shadows, we did not see it actually go in the cup. Ken said he thought it went in, but I was not sure. I looked at the green with my range finder from the tee box but did not see the ball and actually thought it may have rolled off the back of the green. We walked up to the green and I looked at the fringe and slope behind the green but did not see it. I finally looked in the cup and there it was.

Orion Comeau, Clare Golf and Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 48-degree wedge from 134 yards which landed right of the pin bounced a couple feet and spun back right into the cup.

Patrick Horncastle, West Hills Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second hole-in-one, but still as exciting as the first.  It happened on Wednesday August 9th, 2023, hole #5 at West Hills Golf Course. It was playing 110 yards, I hit my 56-degree about four feet past and let it spin back into the hole. It looked good the *hole* way. It was witnessed by Carter Belyea, Karl Kolada and Serge Boucher.

Penny Mastronardi, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, I was golfing at my home club, Whistle Bear Golf Club, with my husband Gino Mastronardi, and good friends; Tina Cain Holland and Andrew Camman, who are also members. Hole #8 is a par 3 which has a pond on the left side and part of the front. It is also protected by bunkers in the front and back. The pin location on this day was front middle right, but it was also playing into quite a wind. This is quite typical at our golf course. Playing from the forward red tees, the distance today was 87 yards. I know that the carry onto the green is 70 yards. I fly my ball quite high with my irons, so based on the information I had, wind, flag, carry, I selected my 8 iron. We could only see the shot and the line. We could not see the finish into the hole. My playing companions were quite sure that it went into the hole. It was confirmed once my friend Tina ran up and looked into the hole. It was a fun experience and great to share with my husband and great friends. The only hard part was finishing the round before celebrating with more friends on the patio after. It was a good day!

Rachelle Fiola, Grand Pines Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing as a twosome with my husband James Hoddinott. It was a slow afternoon, so fellow golfers Ken and Peggy Maeren had caught up to us, waiting on the back tees for us to play. I hit my Srixon bright pink ball with my Cobra 5 wood from the red tees, 124 yards away. The ball had a great loft, landed with two bounces and disappeared into the hole. It was a white flag. Both Jim and I were excited to get to the green. As we weren’t totally sure it went in, when we drove up, my pink ball was nowhere to be seen. I got out of the cart without bringing my putter. Jim got to the hole first and confirmed it was in. I screamed with excitement, and then, almost simultaneously, the Maeren’s screamed and yelled too. What a great moment!

Reg Clarkson, Granite Pointe, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a beautiful afternoon, and the 17th was playing 141 yards. I hit a solid 9 iron that landed about three feet past and it backed right in! That was my foruth hole-in-one. I was playing with Al Grant, Peter Muirhead and Monty Fredrickson.

Renee Raphael, Braestone Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

This was actually my fourth hole-in-one but just as exciting as the others. My last one was at Vespra Hills on June 4, 2011. Both holes-in-one were with my Callaway Divine Nine. At Braestone, I was playing with Barb Coutanche, Helen MacRae and Ann McGee. The hole was playing 113 yards.

Rick Hall, Pakenham Highlands Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

After only 30 years of trying my hand at this sport I finally drained my first ace at Pakenham Highlands Golf Course on Tuesday, August 8th. A wonderful course with three separate 9-hole tracks just outside of Ottawa, Ontario. We were playing from the gold tees. I used a 7 iron to land it short left and run it to the back. I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing it drop because of the contour of the green. The pin was at the back and when the ball disappeared, I thought it had rolled off into the rough behind the green. While I was still looking, one of the other players announced that there was a ball in the hole, and sure enough it was mine. What a hoot!

My playing partners that day were Ken Brown, John Callendar and Roger Lebeau (my usual Tuesday group). In addition, we got to share the excitement with a quick playing twosome that we waved through. It didn’t occur to me that I should save that ball and I proceeded to put it into the pond on the next hole.

Robert Hunter, Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

An amazing experience. It was 137 yards and I used an 8 iron. My playing partners were Richard Charlton, Grant Fleming and Randy Smith.

Rod Hooktwith, Maple City Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 155 yards, 7 iron at Maple City. I’ve been a member there since 2007 and been golfing for 57 years. It was my first ever hole-in-one, witnessed by Richard Gilbert and Lorne Phillipow, both members at MCCC. I used a Vice Pro golf ball.

Russell Johnson, Fox Hollow Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my partner Leslie Lawson and our Saturday morning crew, Denis and Dave Ramlal. We just walked over to the 11th tee box to check the distance. The red flag and range finder measured 140 yards. I thought my 9 iron should be the club. I took my time, one practice swing. Well, I let one rip. One bounce then second on green with a short roll into the hole. Then I was surrounded by loud cheers from my golf friends.  What a great feeling and I’m now looking forward to ace sometime in the near future.

Ruth Reeves, Mylora on Sidaway, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three ladies in my Thursday Ladies golf group, on the first day of our club championship. When I came to hole #16, (approximately 100 yards with an elevated sloping green), I used my trusty 30-degree hybrid and the rest is history. Even though this is not my first hole-in-one, it’s still super exciting, especially at the tender age of 82!

Ryne Hepditch, Harmon Seaside Links, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three other members at my course. Hole #17 is 180 yards and I hit an 8 iron. There was a strong wind at my back that evening.

It was actually a one day 36-hole Ryder cup style tournament that I was playing in, ‘Over 50 vs. Under 50’, where players over 50 played against players under 50.

Scott Messenger, Cranberry Golf Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It certainly was a lot of fun getting it! My wife is a member at Cranberry, and we were playing with another couple who are friends and neighbors. The 13th hole showed 113 yards on my watch, and I used a pitching wedge. The hole has a large waste bunker in front of it and I knew it was tracking well but didn’t see it actually bounce in the hole. My friend walked to the front bunker to see if it was there and I looked in the hole, and there it was! In my father’s lifetime, he had three, so I have some catching up to do!

Sharon Hines, Lora Bay Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my first hole-in-one. It definitely was a moment to remember as we watched my ball hit the green and roll into the hole. I played from the forward tees on hole #8 at Lora Bay. I used my Titleist driver and hit a TaylorMade ball. The yardage was 123. I was playing with a group of women that I regularly play with on Fridays. We call ourselves the “Friday Foxes”. Our shouts of joy could be heard by the group ahead of us halfway down the 9th fairway. The staff at Lora Bay were also excited to congratulate me. At the end of the round, we celebrated achieving this bucket list event with my golf friends in our backyard. I love what playing golf has given me, the friendships and laughter, overcoming the challenges and enjoying my successes.

Steve Walter, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 129 yards from the blue tees. I hit a pitching wedge and all of our group loved it in the air. I saw it go in and turned around and said, “Did that go in?” Everybody thought it did, but nobody would commit to saying it because of the shadows. I had to wait for everybody to hit. When we got up there, I walked faster than I ever have in my life and sure enough, it was in the hole!

I was playing with a good friend, Matt Godbout who is a member as well as Joe Romeo and Kevin Lu. Whistle Bear treated me great and was a perfect place to get my first ace.

Tamara Chamberlain, Eagle Creek Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was on hole #8 at Eagle Creek on a perfect day for golf. I was playing with friends Cathy and Kathleen. I had just lost a match against Kathleen but got the ace for an amazing consolation prize!

It was a front pin, and I used my 8 iron to hit the 120-yard shot. I landed the ball short on the green and we watched as it took two short hops to land in the cup. I had to grab my range finder to make sure the ball wasn’t hiding just behind the pin – it wasn’t! It was my third ace and second on #8.

Thomson McDowell, Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing at Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club in Gormley, Ontario on Sunday, June 18th, 2023; a special day in our family for lots of reasons. Not only was it my husband, Todd’s birthday, but it was also Father’s Day. Our group consisted of my husband and I, our three kids, Thomson (11), Eira (9) and Brooks (7), as well as my dad Rob. This was our 11th annual Father’s Day golfing outing, as we established the first ever event back in 2012. Each year, we have modified the outing and the number of holes we manage to play to suit the group, which has included up to four generations in a few years of doing it.

This year it was particularly memorable. Tight for time following a hockey tournament but determined to continue our tradition, we teed off on the Meadowbrook par-3 course. On the very first hole of the day, an 83-yard par 3, six of us shot, leaving only my son Thomson to make his attempt. He teed up his Seattle Kraken logo ball and took a full swing with his 9 iron. We all watched as it landed on the green about 10 feet from the pin, then proceeded to roll decisively towards (and eventually into) the cup. We were all very excited to witness a big event on a very special day for our family.

Thomson’s first ace (aged 11 years and 15 days old) on his 11th annual Father’s Day golf extravaganza.

Liz McDowell, on behalf of Thomson McDowell

Tim Steen, Hautes Plaines, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I am a member of “The Old Crocs,” a group of mature ClubLink members from Kanata, Eagle Creek and Greyhawk who play Wednesdays at ClubLink courses in the National Capital and Montreal areas. Last Wednesday at Hautes Plaines, I was playing with Matt MacDonald and David Simpson. We had the yardage at about 140 and I hit a 9 iron.

William Petropoulos, Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in my Wednesday night “Boykie” group (South African for friendship) on August 9th, 2023, at Meadowbrook Golf Club in Gormley, Ontario. It was hole #16 with a middle-left pin placement. The hole was playing 191 yards from the blue tee box, and I flushed a 5 iron into the left side of the green. The ball landed softly, rode the slope to the right and tracked directly into the hole. It was a surreal moment for sure as this was my first hole-in-one. After 50 years of playing golf, I thought for sure, my best days were behind me. My playing partners that day were Allen Leroy and Dave Reed. Drinks were enjoyed by many that evening on the clubhouse patio.

Zak Patel, Glendale Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 7 iron. It was 140 yards into wind. I played with Roy Ferron, Stephen Ng and Tariq Patel. I didn’t see it as the sun was in my eyes and my eyesight is not that good.

Luis Almeida, The Pulpit Club – Paintbrush, Hole #16

What an incredible feeling! I used my 9 iron alongside Greg Pannia, Nick Stryland and Julie.

Mac Harrison, St Thomas Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

I was blessed to be playing with my friends Lloyd Graham, Sean Little and Tyler Friesen. We walked up to hole #13 and zapped the flag at 206 yards. Lloyd Graham hit first and managed to leave the green wide open for me (what a nice guy!) I stepped up to the tee with my 5 iron and took aim at the right side of the green. A 5 iron is a lot of club for me with this yardage and downhill slope, and I absolutely flushed it with a nice smooth swing. The ball took off with the slightest right to left ball flight. Lloyd Graham chimes in, “Hold that line!” We saw the ball hit the front of the green, hop and then land directly at the bottom of where the flag stick meets the cup, and it disappears! Our arms instantly shoot up into the air and we erupt with celebration, hugs and high fives. A moment I will remember for the rest of my life!

Noah Son, Hidden Lake, Hole #14

It was hole #14 on the Old Course at Hidden Lake in Burlington, Ontario. It’s a 150 yard par 3 with trouble on both sides. A high draw did the trick and we all stared in disbelief until I ran to the green as fast as humanly possible. An amazing day and an amazing experience for a 21-year-old! I’ll never forget the excitement of seeing the ball at the bottom of the cup.

Alwyn Rees, Northern Bear Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It happened at the Northern Bear Golf Club: 158 yards par 3. There were four of us, my mate Bob Cooper, a young student and a club employee. We were playing alternate white tees and I hit the shot watched the ball hit the behind the front bunker and bounce forward from there we lost sight of it. When we got up to the green, we only counted three balls. Bob said, “it’s in the hole”, and there it was!

Beverly Swan, Brudenell Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my husband John and Marty Wry (who is from Moncton, N.B). I used my 3 wood, and it was 150 yards on hole #16.

Bill Finley, Westfield Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Dave Hache who works in the pro shop here and Carl Tilley one of my long-time regular weekday playing partners. There was a lot of dew on the ground and the sun was making it kind of a glare to see. Hole #2 is 155 yards from the white tees. I hit a 7 iron and Carl said he could not see it. I said it was going right at the hole but then we kind of lost sight of it in the glare, but we didn’t really see it go in. Carl drove ahead in his power cart and went onto the green, looked in the hole and raised his arms and so then I did. The ball was a Taylor Made TP5 that I had just taken out of the package on the first hole.

Bob Copeland, Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 7 iron on hole #14 at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club during our Club Championships. I was playing in a twosome with Janek Guminski. The yardage was 137 yards.

Bryan Nevison, Black Mountain Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Grant Nevison, John Koning and Wendy Koning. The yardage was 183 and the club was 7 iron.

Craig McDonald, Fox Hollow Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I started playing golf at the age of 11 and have played fairly regularly throughout my life. On July 29, 2023, 41 years after taking up this wonderful game, I recorded my first hole-in-one! I was playing at my home course, Fox Hollow Golf Club in Nova Scotia. I also had the fortune to be playing with my regular weekend foursome and good friends Todd Black, Chris Villeneuve and Rob Peters. Hole #15 was playing about 130 yards that day. I hit a 9 iron that landed on the front of the green then disappeared. The hole plays slightly uphill with a dip at the front of the green, so we all thought the ball came to rest there. As we approached the green my ball was nowhere to be seen. Chris ran up on the green, looked in the hole and exclaimed, “it’s in the hole!” I was mostly in shock but remember throwing my hat in the air and letting out a yell. Finally, the eagle helped me shoot a 74!

Dana Haaf, Seymour Golf and Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I am still on cloud nine about that accomplishment and though I acknowledge there’s a certain amount of luck, it does feel the efforts and recent lessons I’ve been getting are paying off.

Interesting story, I went with my daughters to Stanley Park Pitch and Putt yesterday and got another hole-in-one on a par 3 there. What an amazing weekend of golf after 40 years of never having achieved a hole-in-one before!

I was playing alone but the tee box for the 14th hole at Seymour is continuous with the tee box for #15 and is perpendicular. The group in front of me teeing off on hole #15 included a staff member of the club and he saw my tee shot as it was a laser for the flag. Though the green was raised, and we couldn’t see the ball drop, they did witness the shot and the scream when I reached the green and saw the ball in the cup. The yardage was 128 and I used a Ping G410 49.5-degree gap wedge.

I wasn’t supposed to play on Saturday. I was supposed to be spending time with my family that day, but the wife’s plans changed so I booked as a single at Royal Ontario with a 6:30am tee time. I got matched up with three guys from the area and off we went at 6:30am. I was hitting the ball well and playing a pretty typical round. We got to the par 3, 11th hole. I measured the hole at 110 yards. I had the honours, pulled out my 50 degree-wedge and let it fly. The ball came off the club well, one of the guys said, “that looks good”. We watched the ball land then disappear. A quick look of disbelief with the guys then high-fives and handshakes all around. It was the first hole-in-one anyone in the group had seen in person. I played the rest of the round with a smile from ear to ear.

David Connell, Fort McMurray, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my usual weekend group (Claude Howse, Brian Goodale and Rob Lacroix). The yardage was 189 and I used a 5 iron.

Derek Chalker, Dragonfly Golf Links, Hole #5

What a day!

Gennaro Iacobucci, Lakeview Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was playing 119 yards to the flag from the blue tees on #3. I used a pitching wedge. One yard draw, dropped three feet in front of the flag and about one foot to the right of it. It spun left and toward the hole and what seemed like forever, it finally disappeared! The group on the tee beside the green were screaming, my foursome was screaming which included my good friend Jamie that I have been playing with for 25 years! It is the first hole-in-one for myself and I for sure woke up everyone in the houses behind the green!

Geoff McLean, Green Gables Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 4 hybrid into a moderate wind, not wanting to be short as the hole crosses a water inlet and that day’s pin placement was tucked in behind the beginning of a large green side bunker. It was well hit and on line but we didn’t see it drop or roll out. I was worried it was long. Hole #16 at Gables is a huge and fantastic green. I love to talk about Stanley Thompson shaping it in 1939 and how it remains so perfect 80 years later. It has so much undulation that often perfect shots end up 60 feet away. So, as we approached the green, I could not see my yellow ball and my assumption was that I rolled off and perhaps caught the bunker. I checked the green and the bunker and no ball, so I checked the hole and bingo.

It was a great day before and after the ace. I was happy to buy the beer and appreciated the gift of a flag from Green Gables to mark the occasion. Love this game.

Glenn Corbett, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 178 yards and I hit an 8 iron.

Hiep Ong, Kanata Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friend James Salim (Greyhawk Member) and another member from Kanata. The flag was on the left side of the green playing at 117 yards that day. I used a 54-degree Vokey wedge playing for a high draw. When I hit it, I knew it was going to be tight. The ball landed five feet short right of the hole and rolled the rest of the way in. I didn’t quite believe it when I saw the ball disappear, but we walked up, and the ball was in the cup! First hole-in-one ever for me and will be quite the memory.

Ian McInnes, Prince George Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an amazing experience, my first. My son and grandson were playing with me, and they saw it go in. My eyesight isn’t the best and I knew it was on line but lost sight once it hit the ground. It was 185 yards into a breeze, so I used my 4 hybrid. One hop onto the green and the ball rolled into the cup. A pretty cool moment for sure. I shared my free jugs of beer with my men’s night group the next day.

Jack Merritt, Fundy National Park Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

For the hole-in-one I was playing with my friend Liam Warr, the yardage of the par 3 was 175 from the back tees. I hit a 6 iron.

James Roberts, Heritage Golf and Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Kevin Gallinger, 140 yards with a 9 iron. I didn’t actually see the ball go in. There was a sand trap short of the green and the lip blocked the cup. I actually thought it had bounced into the sand trap. Kevin had a slightly better angle, he thought it was close, but I was sure it went in the trap. Walking up to the green I could see a pitch mark; I was still sure I was in the trap, but my heart started beating quicker. Once I could see the trap was empty and no ball on the green, I sprinted to the cup and sure enough, there was my TaylorMade sitting in the cup. 20 years of playing and finally got my first!

Janet Dutot, Kingsville Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one happened on hole #7 red. It was 150 yards to the pin.  I used a 5 wood. It bounced on the left side of the green. I thought it might go in the bunker but bounced up on the green. I did not see it go in as the pin was in the back of the green. I thought it had gone off the back of the green. I looked for it and could not find so looked in the hole not really thinking it had gone in and was pleasantly surprised. I was playing with Diane Piroli, Sue Marentette and Deb Kobayashi.

Janice Gould, Windsor Golf Course, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I recently got a hole-in-one at Windsor Golf Course in Winnipeg. It was on the 10th hole which is 130 yards. I used my 7 iron. I saw it bounce and roll on the green. I was satisfied I made it to the green, so I turned around to pick up my tee. The people at a nearby tee box started cheering. I turned around and they were standing on our green yelling. To this day, I still can’t believe it. Every day I pinch myself! The ironic part is the hole before I was saying to my husband, “wouldn’t it be nice to have just one hole-in-one in our lifetime?”

Jeff Mcguffin, Forest City National Golf Course, #17

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ever hole-in-one was on #17 at Forest City National Golf Course in London, ON. I lasered the pin at 108 yards. I went to my bag and pulled out my 54-degree Vokey wedge. There was a tee already in the ground at perfect height! I placed my ball on it a couple waggles and pulled the trigger. It landed six inches beside the hole, and it slowly rolled in! Everyone’s wedges went flying and all three buddies tackled me in celebration. We rolled around on the tee box as the other group pulled up to the tee. Best day of golf so far!

Jeremy Hunka, Glendale Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was quite the feeling getting my first hole-in-one! I was approximately 144 yards out to an upper right pin location. Heavy downhill to the back of the green with bushes behind it. I hit a smooth pitching wedge, the ball was hit high and started out just left of the flag, the ball was cutting slightly back towards the hole. It landed about three inches from the hole, one hop and in!

Jim Baker, Ardmore Golf Course, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

The 14th hole is a 110-yard par 3. It is a fairly narrow shot with a 1,500-year-old tree on the left and frost fencing on the right to protect the tee box. I was playing with my brother-in-law Ray Morris and a single we picked up on the back nine named Dan. We had a KP competition going for $0.25. I pulled out my 9 iron and hit my best shot of the day, right on the flag all the way. One big bounce onto the green and the ball rolled and rolled (we thought past the hole) until it disappeared out of sight. Our new friend Dan did more jumping up and down than I did. I got off relatively easily in the bar with a tab under $200. I still think the guy that gets the ace should get free drinks from everyone. Congratulations to the greens crew at Ardmore. The greens are as good as I have seen anywhere.

Jim Chobrda, Orchard View Golf Club, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 7 iron 152 yards into the wind. There were three witnesses in my group including my wife, Nancy. It’s the fifth hole-in-one for me.

Jonathan Goodman, Greystone Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 158 yards, and I used a 6 iron. Dave Rogers and Scott Gamble were with me. This was my fourth hole-in-one and my third one at Greystone (I have also gotten a hole-in-one on hole #11 and hole #14).

Kurtis Atkinson, Peninsula Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife Lindsay and son Bennett on July 24th at our local course in Marathon. On top of the ace, I also shot my career low! I lasered the flag at 127 yards and hit a 52-degree wedge. It landed about three feet short of the hole and tracked right into the cup. Fortunately, my wife got the shot on video and a bit of my celebration after it went in. This was the first in my life so it was a very special one to be able to do it with my wife playing alongside me and my son who will turn two in a couple of weeks.

Linda Prior, River Bend Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was the fourth of my life. This one was very exciting as we saw it tracking all the way. It was 85 yards uphill over water with a tough right far front pin placement. I used my 9 iron. I was playing in our regular Ladies league with only two other ladies from the league.

Mark Smith, Pickering Glen Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friend of 40+ years Vince McCormack and his brothers Victor and Steve. We were playing the grey tees, basically the whites at most courses, and the hole was playing 155 yards to the middle. I hit a 5 hybrid that went dead straight and hit the green about 20 feet below the hole; we watched it roll closer and Vic said, “That might go in.” Interestingly, Vince got one on the same hole back in May.

Martin Snell, Georgetown Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was listed at 177 yards but playing a little shorter, so I used a Mizuno MP-32 6-iron with a TaylorMade ball. My playing partners were long-time members Greg Tomlinson and Cathy Kearney (woman’s team captain), and a guest and friend, Chris Mundreon.

Maxine Clarke, Spallmacheen Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I scored a hole-in-one on hole #7 at Spallmacheen golf course, in Vernon, B.C. It was off the green tees 111 yards, using my 7 iron. My ball landed on the green then trickled right into the hole. What a shot! I was using a pinnacle soft ball. It could not have been a better day to do it because it was Wednesday, which happens to be ladies’ day at our club!

Mike Connor, Royal Ashburn Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My other players were Brent McCaw, Andy Macrae and Chris Thomson (all Golf Canada members). The hole played 152 yards (into the wind) and I hit a 9 iron.

Mike Kasubeck, Forest City National Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the 4th hole at Forest City National, from the gold tee block, playing 167 yards. I hit a 5 iron for my first hole-in-one, which took 59 years and 361 days to get! I was playing with Michael MacDonald, Kevin Laye and Brian Hodgert.

Nadeem Mughal, Cherry Downs Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the sixth hole at Cherry Downs from the white tees I used an 8 iron with a beautiful draw towards the pin. Of course, the pin was hidden at back middle so I couldn’t see it go in but as soon as I checked the cup there it was! My son Easa Mughal was playing with me at the time.

Nathalie Fugere, Blue Springs Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

The details about my first hole-in one:

  • Blue Springs, who is my home course. It was my first time playing there this season as my other course, Glen Abbey, is 5 minutes from my home.
  • Witness: Debbie Rogers from Glencairn and a nice lady we talked to, who was taking care of the beautiful flowers at the tee box
  • 120 yards with a red pin
  • 7 iron

I hit the ball, and it went in the middle of the green and came down. I was assuming that my ball kicked to the left and it never crossed my mind that it went into the hole. My friend and I were looking all around the green and Debbie suggested looking inside the hole. I couldn’t believe it. We started to laugh and enjoy the moment.

Fun fact: five years ago, when I restarted playing golf (being a busy mom raising twins), I decided to play Glen Abbey when my husband was competing at the senior men’s tournament. I felt very comfortable as I was playing with a member that I knew and his son. His son used to be a junior there with my son. Another gentleman was with us and was playing only the front nine. This gentleman was giving me good advice, and I played my best game on that day. I had no clue who that gentleman was. The following week, a staff member asked me how my game with Laurence was. That was when I realized that I had played with Laurence Applebaum!

Our heart is with Glen Abbey as our son is an amazing player, thanks to Sean Casey, who was in charge of the Academy. And a big thank you to Ben Ferguson, who, each winter, helps me reach my wildest expectations.

Reg Gionet, Metcalfe Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife Pam Gionet, Judy Schmidt and Jim Ewanovich who are all members of Metcalfe Golf Club. The yardage was 138 and I used a 7 iron.

Rick Hall, Pakenham Highlands Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I sunk my first ace at Pakenham Highlands Golf course yesterday. I used a 7 iron to land it short and run it to the back well past the 161-yard center. I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing it drop because of the contour of the green. The pin was at the back and when the ball disappeared, I thought it had rolled off into the rough. One of the other players announced that there was a ball in the hole, and sure enough it was mine. What a hoot!

Ryan Redekopp, Tower Ranch Golf and Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #5 at Tower, playing 120 yards. I hit a 56-degree wedge, was playing with Brandon Forrester, Brent Barr, and Cody Carrier.

Ryan Sjoberg, Penticton Golf & Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with a couple of friends Rob Cole and Alan Cohk and I hit a 9 iron. The hole was playing 142 yards.

Sebastian Bell, Osprey Links Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 143 yards, and I used a 9 iron. I was playing with Michela Chirico Bell and Ben Ayling.

Shawn Feero, Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the 13th hole at the Predator Course using a pitching wedge. It looked like a one hop hit the pin and drop shot. I was there with a group of 15 people on a work trip with contractors and our top Edmonton Dealer. To have that moment with a great group of customers was extra special, we were playing team format and that helped us win the day. I want to say a big thanks to Doug Lemieux (birthday boy) and Tony Carroll from LBH Timbermart for organizing the trip.

Steve Hyatt, Picton Golf and Golf and Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one occurred on the 4th hole of the Picton Golf and Country Club in Picton, Ontario. Fortunately, the pin was located on the front portion of the green therefore we were able to see the ball drop in the hole. Even though it appeared that the ball had dropped in the hole, unlike my playing partners Judy, John and Earl, I was guardedly optimistic. Once on the green and seeing the ball in the hole I was then convinced.

The interesting thing was the amount of notoriety that I received from this. Apparently, Judy wasted no time in posting a picture of me pulling the ball from the hole on Facebook for everyone to see. Everywhere I went I had people congratulating me on my hole-in-one. On one occasion I had a cashier say to me, “hey didn’t I see your picture on Facebook, aren’t you the guy who did something in golf recently?”

Steve Walter, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three members, and I was a guest. Whistle Bear treated me like a king when I got it, and it was very much appreciated. Great golf club and great members there.

Tony Gilbert, Rivershore Golf Links, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 153 yards with a 9 iron. I played with Ray, Scott and Brett.

Zach Weese, Sunningdale West Course, Hoe #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 168 yards to a back middle pin, with a 7 iron. It helped me win our match play in the quarter-finals!

Golf Canada Hole-In-One Report – August 4, 2023

temp fix empty alt images for attachment

Each week we write to Golf Canada members who record a hole-in-one, congratulating them and asking if they’d tell us how it happened. These are their stories (edited for length and clarity).

Have you recently accomplished the feat of a hole-in-one? Tell us about it! Share your story, picture / video and course information with us at holeinone@golfcanada.ca.

Cody Luu, Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

The hole was measured at 183 yards, a bit down wind and I hit an 8 iron. It came the day after my 37th birthday, and after 28 years of playing golf, I finally got my first ace.

A couple weeks prior, I had just began filming my par 3s to hopefully capture my first hole-in-one on video. As luck would have it, my camera fell over before I took my shot and so I have a video of the grass with the sound of my excited screams in the background.

Frank Deiter, Predator Ridge Golf Resort, Hole #6

It was at Predator Ridge on hole #6 which was 211 yards! I used my hybrid.

Jiri Hudecek, The Winston Golf Club, Hole #11

I was playing with Steve Easthope and Dennis Murphy, both Winston and Golf Canada members. The hole-in-one happened on #11, a challenging par 3 that is all carry over a hazard to a green surrounded by trouble everywhere but right. It was playing 157 yards into a half club headwind, and the pin was centre right. There was room on the green short of the pin, so I thought a 7 iron would get there and also take the back hazard out of play.

I hit it well and it was on a great line; it drew in nicely over the hazard, pitched eight feet short of the pin and rolled in. There were shrubs partially blocking the view, but I saw it disappear. Steve was only pretty sure, and of course I wasn’t saying anything till we got there, but there it was. It was my second one, but the first one at my home club with regular playing partners, so it was way more special.

I have sore knees, so I ride a cart, and I usually grab whichever one is handy. That morning there were several, including #1. I grabbed it. I never pick a cart because of the number but that day I did.

Mark Kupko, Kingsville Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

It's been a week now since my first hole-in-one and I still cannot believe it happened. It was a sunny Sunday in Kingsville, Ontario on July 23rd. The course got a lot of rain the prior day, so it was cart path only. Thankfully for me it didn't matter on gold #2, our second hole of the day. I was playing with my Chuck Cup teammates Shawn Davidson, Jamie Boccioletti and Darryl Burgess. After coming off a par to open the day, we stepped up to the second hole that was lasered at 164 yards. I was in between club selections as I had just hit a 9 iron from 162 yards on the first hole, but I couldn't feel the wind down in the valley for this par 3, so I grabbed my 8 iron. I started the ball about five yards right of the pin, hoping for my usual fade, which is exactly what happened. The pin was on the right side of the wide, but not deep green. The first bounce hit the fringe in front, then took a few rolls directly into the hole. There was a little ridge, so I could not see it go in, but my group heard the "click" of the ball hitting the pin and saw it disappear. I was in complete shock and didn't celebrate until all of them confirmed they knew it was in. The group ahead of us were on the next tee, which is up on a hill. They ran back to confirm it was in the hole. We proceeded to enjoy cold beers the rest of the day and night, while the rest of my golf round was a blur.

Robin Tomalty, Shannon Lake, Hole #2

Thanks for your kind words of congratulations! It happened to be my third ace but still pretty darn exciting! I was playing my home course, Shannon Lake, with my usual Friday fun group of ladies. I believe it was a mid-pin, possibly around 125 yards. I decided to use my 4 hybrid club on that hole.

It was mid-morning, and I felt the swing was smooth and the direction was straight. What I didn’t know was that two of the ladies actually saw it go in the hole. I walked my cart down to the side of the green to park it and ambled towards the green looking for my ball. One of the gals had the foresight to push record on her phone so actually got my reaction when I discovered it in the hole! Hugs all around and we shared a little toast of something yummy that one of the ladies always carries as ‘birdie juice’.

Abe Fehr, Essex Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a wonderful feeling and accomplishment for me. I was playing with fellow Essex Golf and Country Club members Gary Langeman and Jake Neudorf. It was hole #7 and we were playing the blue tees. I used my 8 iron from a distance of 142 yards.

Adele Williamson, Canmore Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a thrill to have a hole-in-one on July 15, 2023. I was playing with Sandra, Judy and Cheryl, the members of my newly formed Masters competitive curling team. I was trying to impress them at my Canmore course but without much success until we came to hole #12.

When I stepped onto the tee box, I recognized that the pin placement was the same as it had been last July 13th when I had an ace on the same hole. The same white flag was again placed in line with the left edge of the sand trap. The distance was the same at 107 yards. Even though I have new clubs this year, I reached for my 7 hybrid as last year’s success was with a 7 iron. The ball soared and landed three feet from the hole and rolled in at the same angle as my last. How uncanny is that! The other cool fact is that everyone watched the ball go into the hole. There was a pause and a look of disbelief between us before the cheering began.

Alison Griffin, Andersons Creek Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an exciting moment. I was playing with my mother, Iva Griffin. The hole is 95 yards, and I used my 7 iron. It was a beautiful day, and the wind was just enough to help my ball get into the hole.

Amanda Barney, Prince Rupert Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my partner Tim Young, and the yardage was 115 so I used my 7 iron. The pin placement was behind a large sand bunker, so we didn’t see the ball go in. We knew it was a great shot, but we looked for the ball off the back of the green before I glanced in the hole and saw the ball.

Angela Arora, Ashburn Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

Editor’s Note: Angela Arora, a Team Canada and University of Tennessee golfer, recorded a hole-in-one during the 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship.

Ann Newberry, Barcovan Golf Course, Hole #18

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one at Barcovan Golf Course on hole #18 on July 25th. I was playing in the weekly ladies’ league with Janet, Linda and Kim. I used an easy 8 iron for the 99 yard shot. The ball landed off the green and rolled on and into the hole. A superb ending to what had been a horrendous round.

Bill Woodley, Mabel Lake Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, 29 degrees with a light wind. My playing partners were Phil Malbeuf, Mike Striha and Eric Hoffman. It was 159 yards, and I used a 6 iron.

Brodie McRae, Shaganappi Point Golf Course – Valley, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I had been playing with my friends (Aiden McRae and Riley Douglas) and the yardage was 170 yards. I used my 6 iron.

Chloe Wills, Ashburn Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

My first hole-in-one!

Cliff Truax, Islington Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

On July 25, 2023, I aced the 10th hole at Islington Golf Club. The hole was playing 165 yards uphill to the green. I was playing with my buddy, Brian Beith, and I used my Taylor Made M4 driver. This was my second hole-in-one, having aced Islington #6, on September 22, 2020.

Dan Klimas, Lachute, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was the fifth in my lifetime. This was just as special as the others. It was hole #2 on the Thompson Course at Lachute Golf Club. It was 164 yards, and I used a 5 hybrid.

Dave Lewis, Gander Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 6 iron to complete this feat and the hole was playing 135 yards.

David Huffer, Canmore Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second hole-in-one, both have come on the 8th hole of the Canmore Golf Club. I was playing with my friend Dieter Kuhn. My first was October 2014 with an 8 iron from 135 yards out, my recent was with a 5 iron from 157 yards.

DJ Stevenson, Woodlands Links, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 9 iron from 155, landed roughly eight feet past the hole and spun back into the hole! It took about 10 seconds to fall into the hole. I didn’t think it was going to go in but finally fell! I was playing with a couple of my buddies at men’s night, their names are Brandon Gibson and Tom Dawson.

Dustin Boydell, Cultus Lake Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friend Andrew and a twosome that got paired up with us. Their names were Jae and Mac. The hole was playing about 110 yards so I hit a nice, controlled pitching wedge. The depth perception of the green made it seem as though the ball had landed short of the pin and spun away. However, when we arrived at the green, we discovered the ball in the hole!

Evan Cranshaw, Malone Golf Club (east), Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was in the second round of the St. Lawrence eight man tournament at Malone Golf Club. I was playing with Sean O’Conner, Matt Heney and Tanner Wiseman. The hole was 186 yards and I hit a 6 iron.

Fred Hill, Granite Springs Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My latest hole-in-one was at Granite Springs Golf Club from 123 yards. I used a Callaway Apex Pro 8 iron and a Vice Pro Plus golf ball. Stuart Tebbutt and Scott Murphy were my witnesses.

Gail Halsall, Cardinal Lakes Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club! It was on the back nine on the Sparrow course! We were 94 yards with a 7 iron! Margaret Edwards and Tom Halsall were with me to celebrate the shot.

George Mulligan, Deer Ridge Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 160 yards and I hit my pitching wedge. I was using Titleist clubs and a ball. My playing partners were Kevin Casey, Bob Fleming and Brian Hopkins.

Guy Allford, Granite Hills Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I played Granite Hills Golf Course in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba. We were visiting from Calgary and played with my brother-in-law, nephew and a longtime friend. I used a 7 iron on the 12th hole, 154 yards. It hit the pin and straight in the cup. This was my 7th hole-in-one.

Nine years ago, we were playing Granite Hills and on the 12th hole, as we were teeing off, we received a phone call that our son who was 35 years old passed away very unexpectedly. It will be nine years on August 5th. I was golfing with my brother-in-law and nephew as well that day. As I was teeing off the other day my thoughts were with our son Ryan and as everyone said he was as definitely looking down on me. We are going to make a trip to Scotland next July, hopefully to play the Old Course to honour my grandparents who immigrated from Scotland, my parents and Ryan; they were all avid golfers.

Jackson Telka, Pine View Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Today, I’m overjoyed to share the incredible news that I achieved a hole-in-one! The magic began with a special moment before the match at 11:11, I made a wish to become the world’s greatest golfer. Little did I know that destiny had something extraordinary in store for me. On my way to the course, my friend Gavin Hopkins and I shared laughter, imagining what it would be like to get a hole-in-one. As I reached the 11th hole, 132 yards to the pin, I confidently stood at the tee, holding a 7 iron. I took a swing, and to my absolute amazement, my ball disappeared into the hole. It could only mean one thing! A dream come true that I will cherish forever.

Jamie Girolametto, St. George Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son Elijah Girolametto, Ernie Romaine and Tom Fisher. It was on the 17th hole at the Oaks of St. George. The hole was 117 yards. I used a pitching wedge. The ball went over the flag, stuck on the green and then came back down the slope about 10 feet. This is my first ever hole-in-one.

Jamie Spademan, Water Valley Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was in a group of four with two of my golfing buddies. It was James McKeage and Keith Field. The fourth member of the group was James’s nephew Chris VanTilborg. The yardage was 105 and I hit a pitching wedge.

On July 17th, I was playing with Freddy Vautour who shot 91, and Bernard Savoie who shot 83. They witnessed my hole-in-one on the 4th hole of the Pine course which is 150 yards long. I hit my pitching wedge. I used a Titleist ProV1x ball. My score that day was 74 from the yellow tees.

Jean-Philippe Bolduc, Saint Raphaël (Club de Golf), Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Vincent Lecavalier, Mark Allison and Karik Boisjoly. It was 108 yards and I hit a 56-degree wedge.

Jérôme Himbeault, Kanawaki Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one on July 30th on the 11th hole at my home course Kanawaki Golf Club, during my final qualifying round for my Interclub team tryouts. The distance was 163 yards, I used my 9 wood to hit my shot and it took a bounce and in. My playing partners were Paul Rice and Nicolas Ponton.

Jerome Northcott, Gander Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It is the fourth hole at Gander and I used a 5 wood. I played with Judy Goulding, Ryan Tobin and Kevin O’Keefe on the 29th of July.

Jim Gerhart, National Pines Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

After 58 years of golf, I finally made a hole-in-one! A few weeks earlier, on the same hole, I hit the pin and finished six inches from the hole. I wondered if I would ever score an ace.

I was playing with fellow National Pines members Mike Sullivan and Shael Dolman in our regular Tuesday morning tee time. The scorecard yardage was 158 yards. The actual yardage to the pin was 142 (front pin). I used an 8 iron.

John Powers, Sunset Ranch Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with Mike Hodder and Brian Bleakley. I used a 7 iron for 181 yards. I did not catch the ladies name that was the spotter as it was a hole-in-one for 5,000 dollars during the Sunset Men’s invitational.

Jordan Hollett, Cabot Cliffs, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 143 yards, and I used an 8 iron. I was playing with Shane Roney, Brodie McGregor and Ron Hately (there was also a Cabot caddie with us).

Karen Dove, Blue Springs Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my fourth hole-in-one. On July 18, 2023, I scored an ace on hole #5 at Blue Springs Golf Club. It was 115 yards over a pond with a 7 wood. It was witnessed by my good friend Leini Locsin and my husband Ron Falsetto. We celebrated later in the club house along with other members, one of whom had also scored an ace on the same hole earlier in the afternoon. High fives all around! I have to say it never gets old.

Karen Hodgins, Maple Ridge Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my ladies night at Maple Ridge. It was 99 yards on hole #3 with my pitching wedge. I will remember it forever!

Leslie Rahie, Pointe West Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #2, 141 yards and I used my 8 iron. I was golfing with Mike Vrionis and Nick Magyar.

Luke Fender, Quarry Oaks, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

What a day!

Marcel Desloges, Cowichan Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve only been playing golf for four years. I started when I was 59. It happened on hole #6 which is the most difficult par 3, according to many golfers. The green slopes left to right. My club selection was a 9 iron. The ball landed left of the pin, which was my aiming point, about eight feet. It looked like the ball had stopped then it started slowly rolling to the right and fell in! All the playing partners, Nate especially, were as excited as I was.

I’ve played many different sports in my life; golf is by far the most challenging and rewarding of all. I am hooked!

I would like to acknowledge Doug Morgan, the Club Professional at Richmond Golf and Country Club, in Richmond B.C, that I belonged to when I first started my journey in golf.

Doug’s first lesson, was a verbal lesson and a very important one. He said, “Marcel, you are not good enough to get mad.” I’ve taken that advice to heart, and it has paid off immensely.

Marlene Vickers, The Links at Dover Coast, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 115 yards from the yellows, and I used my driver.

Martyn Gray, Bally Haly Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing my friend and work colleague Paul McGrath and shared the tee time with Don Bursey and Jim. It was 115 yards, and I used a pitching wedge. The wind was blowing right to left, I aimed at the right side of green. The ball hit the green and rolled, then it disappeared. Of course, we just thought it rolled behind a mound, but Paul took out his range finder and couldn’t see a ball on the green. It was in the hole!

Mitzi Koebernick, Drayton Valley Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the first time golfing with my three good friends after Drayton Valley had to evacuate due to a wildfire. The hole was one of the most beautiful holes at our course, 81 yards from the red tees, over a pond that looks as large as the Pacific Ocean. I was the first to tee off, I grabbed my 8 iron, and had a great swing. The ball hit the green about two yards in front of the hole and rolled to the flag. From the angle I was standing I was sure the ball had rolled past the flag, but my friends whooped and hollered and told me it was in the hole. I didn’t believe them.

Morley Woloschuk, Windermere Valley Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ace on hole #16! It was 145 yards uphill with a 7 iron. I was playing with my wife and son.

Nathan Le-Nguyen, Weston Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my sister and hit a pitching wedge from 137 yards.

Nathan Strom, Greensmere Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with my dad, wife, daughter and one of my good friends and his son. The pin was over water and 130 yards. I went on to shoot 81 that day, it was unreal!

Rob Atitise, Whitewater Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I had 178 yards from the blue tees to the pin and it was favouring the right side of the green just a bit so as a leftie I decided to play a little draw to that pin. It landed about one foot past the pin and it one hopped back right into the cup. It was special because I had just missed one on the Friday prior with my friends on hole #15 at Whitewater. It was a very cool experience and even cooler because it was in the presence of my parents and daughter.

As a side bar, a good friend of mine was playing behind me and drove up to the green after he realized I had made an ace and almost tackled me to the ground; obviously very happy for me as well. I will never forget it!

Rob Mannila, Spruce Needles Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 7 iron and was playing with Luke Boiseneau and Ron Maxwell.

Rosemary Willett, Paragon Golf and Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my sixth hole-in-one, and I am very happy about it. It was a sunny July 30th, and I was playing with Michael Willett, Lorraine and John Drummond. Hole #15 at Paragon is 128 yards, and I used my 3 wood.

Spencer Hagopian, Calgary Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 165-yard hole and I hit an 8 iron to about 10 feet on the left side slope of the green. It had some side spin and managed just to go right in the hole.

Stephanie Holland, Hylands Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was made while playing in our weekly Ladies League, so I was credited with an eagle for our Birdies, Ringer and Chip-in competition. I was playing with my friends Linda and Elise who helped me celebrate, very loudly, I might add.  The distance to the flag on hole #16 measured 111 yards but as the green is elevated and there was a bit of wind, I played it 121 yards with a 7 iron. My shot was perfectly straight and aimed at the flag. The ball landed on the front of green and rolled perfectly straight into the centre front of the hole.  Honestly, it seemed to take forever to get there.

There is a bit more to this story. Two days later, I was playing on our South course again in our Senior Intersectional team try-outs with a lady named Heather. I told her about my hole-in-one, and she said that it was on her bucket list. As we played the 16th hole, she made a hole-in-one! Unbelievable!

Steve Stone, The Okanagan Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my wife Megan Stone, and our good friends Geoff and Cathy Cruickshank. It was 140 yards with a pitching wedge that never left the flag.

Thomas Considine, Landings Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

A magnificent day for me!

Tim Helferty, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I had joined three other members as a single that day. Paul, Ferd and Ian who had someone drop out of their regular group. It was 170 yards, I used an 8 iron.

Tony Cupido, Beverly Golf and Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m thrilled about my hole-in-one on July 30. I was playing the par 3, the 200-yard 14th hole at Beverly Golf and Country Club.  I’m a proud member of Beverly. I used a 3 wood and because of the glare and distance, we couldn’t actually see it go in the hole! We knew it was close but did confirm until I investigated the hole.

Trevor Klassen, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #14 at Pine Ridge Golf Course, which is 178 yards adjusted to a back pin. I used an 8 iron on a perfect evening. I was with my brother-in-law and two friends.

Trevor Quesnelle, Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my good friend Adam Bourgeois. We were playing from the gold tees and it was 163 yards uphill in the wind and the rain! I used a 7 iron.

Trudy Spidle, Eagle Crest Golf Course, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

I was pretty excited to get a hole-in-one! I’ve been a member of Eagle Crest since 2001 so it’s been a long time. I was golfing with my great girlfriends Ruth Ward, Karen North and Ann Marie Legge. I used my 3 wood and a Noodle golf ball. It ran onto the green and right into the hole. Ruth was standing right beside me!

Yvonne Gütz, Pakenham Highlands Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

My golf partner Kate Swift and I were playing our front 9 on the Island Course at Pakenham Highlands Golf Club in Pakenham, ON.

Hole #6 is the Island green and is Pakenham Highlands’ signature hole. It is unforgiving. I knew I needed lots of loft to not overshoot the green. Since I tend to slice my irons when under pressure, I choked down on my 5 wood and aimed directly for the flag.

Kate shouted, “you did it – you did it, a hole-in-one.” I was skeptical and Kate just kept grinning at me. I thought that I had bumped into the flag stick and rolled onto the fringe. She said, “I saw and heard it hit the flag stick and drop in the cup.” When we approached the flag stick, with my putter in hand and peeked in, sure enough there was my Pinnacle Rush ball in the cup!

Adam Webb, Woodlands Links Ltd., Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 9 iron, 150 yards and hit it three feet beyond the pin and spun it back into the hole. My brother and I erupted once we saw the ball disappear. The whole course heard us.

We proceeded to celebrate the last few holes of our round and I opened a tab at the course to give a few drinks to other patrons.

Allan Druskin, Three Hills Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I am 75 years old with an 18 handicap and have been playing golf on and off for 50 years. My friend, Barry (Hoppy) Hopkins and myself were golfing on the afternoon of July 21, 2023, at our home course near Three Hills. Using a 6 iron, I shot the ball over a creek about 160 yards to the green, thought it landed on the green, but lost sight of it in the sun. Upon reaching the green, I couldn’t find it. After searching for it for a couple of minutes my friend suggested I look in the cup. Sure enough, there it was!

Betty Millen, Newlands Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with the three members that I play with a few times a week. The hole was 98 yards uphill, and I used my little 9 wood that I have had for 20 years. This is my third on that hole, my second one this year. Unfortunately, I didn’t record the others on the Golf Canada site. I’m pretty proud of myself for a 79-year-old!

Betty Oliver, Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my sister. Kathy Palombi and two good friends, Barb Bumbacco and Anita Litalien. The yardage was 116 and I used my Cleveland Launcher UHX 8 iron and a yellow Srixon soft feel ball. It was so exciting for all of us to watch it disappear into the hole as it rolled across the green. Hopefully, I’ll experience that moment again with either myself or a golfing buddy.

Bill Raponi, Cranberry Golf Course, Hole #13

What a great day!

Brett Skakun, Lac La Biche Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was out for an early morning round with my good friend and fellow Golf Canada member Greg Zevola. It was a 148 yard 9 iron that was on line the entire time it was in the air. Both of us said, “be good” while the ball was up and then silence waiting for it to spin. It spun and went in! We both took a few seconds staring in disbelief making sure it was gone. Then we erupted! I turned and jumped on him while cheering and celebrating! The groups behind us heard, the group ahead came back from the ninth tee to see what was happening and everyone at the clubhouse heard. My wallet’s a little lighter after it but it was the perfect experience celebrating the rest of the day with family and friends. A little fun fact, hole #8 is sponsored by my dad and uncle’s fountain tire shop in Lac La Biche. So, a little bit of family luck there!

Cathy Bildfell, The Okanagan Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing Senior Ladies night with Vicki Dallon, Kate Dusik and Jan Hecht. My 9 iron was used to hit it 115 yards. My seventh ever ace!

Chris Moote, Oliver’s Nest Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one was 117 yards and I hit a pitching wedge. I was playing with Steve, Ron and Bill who are good buddies that I do a Myrtle Beach trip with every spring. Memorable for sure but four holes later I hit a 52 degree from 90 yards that also went in for my second eagle of the day!

Chris Patrick, Sirocco Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I got the hole-in-one using a TaylorMade 6 iron with a Titleist ProV1 and the yardage was 175 yards. It happened to be on the second day of our Club Championships. My playing partners were Ken Hall and Randy Sevienson.

Chris Webster, Wintergreen Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was men’s night at Wintergreen Golf and Country Club in Bragg Creek. Nestled in the foothills of Alberta, the par 3 hole #7 from the gold/blue combo plays 163 yards. With an altitude of 4,300 feet an 8 iron was the club of choice. I hit my shot, watched the trajectory, and as it hit the green, turned to my playing partners to boast ‘that line is good’. I entirely missed seeing the ball actually roll in!

Elna de Klerk, Meadow Gardens Golf, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with two friends, Joan Arnold and Susan Balenzano. The yardage was 127 and I used my 7 iron.

Erwin Tapnio, Riveredge Golf Course, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

Didn’t actually realize it went in until I got to the hole. I was looking all over the surrounding areas and decided to look in the hole and found my ball! Best experience of my life!

Gordon Gilman, Algonquin Golf Course, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a great moment on a great course.

Harlen Van Wynsberghe, Century Pines Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing 18 holes with an ex-billet brother from junior hockey and our friend on a perfect morning at Century Pines. As we watched it fall in the hole, I’ve never been more excited! They all tackled me before it even registered what happened. A round and a morning I will never forget.

John Thomas, Pheasant Glen Golf Resort, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

My wife and I started playing golf about four years ago, when we moved from North Vancouver to Parksville. We got hooked on golf, so we decided to join Pheasant Glen about a year and a half ago after we looked at other courses. On July 19th I was playing men’s day with Dan McGuire, Bob Steele and Cary Connell. On hole #15 I was 147 yards out wind blowing towards the tee, and I picked up my 7 iron and hit the ball towards the flag. The ball dropped about four feet from the front of hole and rolled in for a hole-in-one. What a great day.

Jon Bulmer, Madawaska Golf – Twisted Pines, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

Thanks to my witness Nick, who had taken an extended lunch break to swing the sticks! I used a pitching wedge.

Jon Ginsburg, Twenty Valley Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It took me 30 years of wondering whether it would ever happen! I used my TaylorMade Stealth driver to hit the ball approximately 125 yards playing from the white/green tee box. I was playing with my regular group who could not believe what they saw, forcing me to buy a round of drinks for them! Thank heavens there were only two of them!

Judy Cross, Princeton Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

This was such a special day. We were playing in the two-day club championship. I was playing with members Barb Jones and Gloria Gagnon. The hole was about 135 yards over a gulley. I was using a 5 wood. Best celebration ever.

Karen Merrylees, Riverbend Golf Community, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

My husband Bill and I were playing in a couples’ match at our home course at Riverbend Golf Community in London, Ontario. We were all square going into hole #12. It was 104 yards, and I used my 9 iron. I usually go to the left on this hole and when I made my shot, it was going straight to the green, which I was very excited about. My husband was watching and after the shot hit the front of the green, he said, “watch this.” The four us all watched as the ball rolled on the green, turned to the right towards the hole, and we all saw it fall into the hole! It was a magical moment, and one I will never forget as I am sure all golfers that get a hole-in-one will say.

Ken Baker, Surrey Golf Course, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

Finally, after playing golf for over 50 years, I did it. It happened at the Surrey Golf Course playing with three others from a group of eight that play every Wednesday and Friday. I was not playing up to my handicap level until I reached hole #12, a par 5, which is 500 yards. The next hole was playing 129 yards to a red flag. It has a large pond in front and a sand trap to the left of the front of the green. There was a wind coming in our faces, so I choked up on an 8 iron. The ball hit a mound just right of the trap bounced once hit the pole straight down. Last time I checked, they all count. Honored to join the club.

Kevin Boland, Bally Haly Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

My second since I started golfing 16 years ago. The hole was #2 at Bally Haly Country Club South and the yardage was 151. I used a 6 iron. The players with me were my usual group of Don Coady, Andrew Hynes and Damien Dubourdieu.

Larry Taylor, Sirocco Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing at Sirocco Golf Club on hole #7.  It has an elevated tee box and is 115 yards. I used my gap wedge, hit it high, banked it off the left side hill, it rolled across the green and in. I was playing with my wife, Ellen, and fellow members Louise and Barry. I now have a hole-in-one at each of the three courses where we have been members.

Lin Chen, Angus Glen Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

Thank you for your congratulations! I played with my friend Ivan and my yardage was 110. I used a 6 hybrid. It was July 17th at Angus Glen South Course, on hole #17. When I hit the ball, I couldn’t see my ball from where we were. I couldn’t believe my ball went in and kept asking Ivan where my ball was. As we approached the green, it was in the hole! Immediately I contacted Susan who had invited my family and I to the Chris Li Golf Classic. I said to Susan, “I used the lucky rain check and hit a hole-in-one!” I received congratulations from Mr. Chris Li and friends.

Lincoln Garraway, Caledon Woods Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

Great day!

Lori Graves, Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 105 and I used a 7 iron. I played with my Saturday group of Judy and Cindy plus a gentleman joined us named Matt.

Marc Donnelly, Champêtre (Club de Golf), Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Olivier Frenette, Mark Mirza and Paul Poliquin. We arrived at the fourth hole, and I was the last to tee off. The hole location was in the back of the green on the left side, behind the bunker. It was playing at 148 yards. I moved over to the right side of the tee box and was deciding between a 9 iron or an 8. I went with the 8 iron. I hit the shot with a slight draw. We all saw it heading towards the hole. It carried the bunker and landed three feet in front of the hole.

My playing partners all said that that was going to be very close. No one could see the result because the hole was hidden by the bunker.

We all walked up to the green and we saw the ball mark, but no ball. We looked in the hole, and there it was, my Titleist 4 resting at the bottom of the cup.

Mike Mills, Northumberland Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rick and Ken from Toronto, and Mario from Hamilton. I had not played with any of them before. I used a 4 hybrid. The yardage was around 138 in a light wind.

Niels van Oyen, The Paintbrush, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was lucky enough to get my first hole-in-one on Friday, July 21st at The Paintbrush in Caledon, Ontario. For those of you who know the course, it is quite a challenging track and I had never seriously considered the possibility of recording an ace on any of its challenging par threes. I play to a 15 handicap and play 30-40 rounds a year, so my chances for an ace in my lifetime didn’t seem great.

The big moment happened on #4, playing 152 yards and into the wind. I pulled a 7 iron and my ball landed about 15 feet short of the hole. You can’t see much of the putting surface, so when we got to the green and didn’t see my ball, one of my playing partners started to get excited and ran up to the hole. When he threw his hat on the ground, I knew something big must have happened. The rest, as they say, is history.

We celebrated the feat with some single malt scotch (we were on a links course, after all) and lots of laughs for the remaining 14 holes.

Nikki Otterbein, Legacy Ridge Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was certainly great fun for me. We were playing the fusion tees which is the white tees on hole #8 and the pin was at the back. The yardage was 121 and I hit my 5 hybrid. I knew I had hit it well and was afraid it would go over the back of the green but luckily the hole got in the way! I was playing with my daughter Karen and her friend Michelle. For no good reason I was wearing mainly pink on Saturday and Karen was calling me Barbie (the movie opened on Saturday) but after the 8th hole she began to call me Brooke (Henderson) instead! She did remember to take a photo of me taking my pink ball out of the hole.

Paul Jeppesen, Flambourough Hills Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one occurred at the Flamborough Hills Golf Club in the late afternoon of July 19th, 2023. Flamborough Hills has 27 holes and on this day the 11th hole was the second of the Lakes nine. It is a 127-yard hole on the card but played a bit longer with the hole on the back shelf of a two-tiered green with a bit of a back stop. I played a pitching wedge which landed about three feet short and right of the pin. It bounced behind the pin and came back into the hole from behind. The moment was shared with Howard Hollingham, James Davidson and Nico Bopp. This happens to be my fourth hole-in-one. People have asked me how I do it and I always tell them that it’s hereditary. My mother had seven, my father had two and my uncle has four. I am on a mission to catch my mother’s total and the odds are improving!

Peggy Blacklock, Olds Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my friends in the Olds Ladies Golf tournament. It was 110 yards to the hole, and I used my Callaway 11 wood. Another woman got an ace that day too! Ironically, I had just met her that morning through a mutual friend. We laughed that we were wearing the same shirt. By the of the day, we had both gotten a hole-in-one.

Ron Worden, Black Mountain Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was great!

Ryan Mckean, Oak Island Golf Course, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in the 2023 Golf Manitoba Men’s Amateur Provincial Championship. My other two competitors were Ben Bandura and Jackson Delaurier.

For the tournament, the organizers swapped the front nine and back nine so on the tournament scorecard it says hole #3, but it was hole #12 at Oak Island. The tees were moved up to 135 yards for the final round and I used a pitching wedge.

Sandy Rathgeber, Chilliwack Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

As I have only been playing golf for five years, I had never anticipated getting a hole-in-one. Surprisingly this was my second one this month! The first was on a local par 3 course so it wasn’t entered into my Golf Canada app. The one I got on July 23rd was at Chilliwack Golf Club where I was playing with my husband, Wade and two nice fellows from Kamloops, Glen and Koji. It was the fourth hole which was a 118-yard par 3. I hit a solid 7 iron straight at the pin, the ball landed at the front of the green and rolled to the back pin location. We could all see that it had a chance to go in and luckily it did. It was hard to believe it had happened again so quickly after my first one but there it was sitting patiently at the bottom of the hole waiting for me to bring it back out into the sunlight.

Sean Bolley, The Legends Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was on hole #14 at The Legends golf course in Warman. I was playing from the blues that day and the yardage was 128 so I used my 9 iron. I was playing with my girlfriend Allison, and we got paired up with another couple, JR and Michelle.

Shari Molchan, Mount Breton Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I’ve been golfing for 22 years! It was on hole #3 at Mount Breton Golf Course in Chemainus B.C. My Garmin watch said 114 yards to the pin. I knew the hole played a little uphill, so I used my 7 iron and a nice easy swing.

I was last on the tee box and so the others were standing to the right so they couldn’t see the ball finish because of the bunker. But then it disappeared, and I thought it went off the back. We looked for my ball behind the green and it was not there then one of the gals looked in the cup and there it was!

My home course is Cottonwood Golf Course, and we were doing our ‘away’ game at Mount Breton. I was golfing with my teammate (Cottonwood member) Cheri Holder.

Sharlene Coates, Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

On July 18th, 2023, I was blessed with a hole-in-one on hole #17 at Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club. This hole is a steep drop down to the Upper Rideau Lake. I used my 5 wood to drop it left of the green as it runs quickly to the right and was awe struck to watch it roll slowly into the hole. This took place during our regular Tuesday Ladies League, so I had a large group of witnesses waiting to play the hole.

Sharon Creelman, Cabot Cliffs, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #6 at Cabot Cliffs. The hole was 130 yards. I used a 9 iron. I was playing with Elizabeth Czenczek and Judy McCrae. My first and hopefully not last hole-in-one and such a memorable course! The course celebrated me very well. With a flag, signed by the golf pro at the course and a hole-in-one hat.

Sharon Gu, Gull Lake View Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

What a great moment!

Stephanie Simpson, The Hamptons Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 110 yards and I used a 9 iron.

Yuhao Shen, Bethesda Grange/Rolling Hills, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I am nearly 11 years old. I started golf during the pandemic and have been playing for three years. I love golf because it puts up a challenge and I like challenges. Also, because golf courses are good places to make new friends. I just made a hole-in-one, which makes me love golf even more. Rolling Hills is my home course. I’d like to play as many courses as possible. But other courses are very expensive. When I grow up, I hope to be a professional golfer.

Angus Armstrong, Arundel Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

named David and Colin. The hole #12 is advertised at 150 yards, but the pin was at the back of a very long green, so I’d say it was more like 155 to 160 yards. I used a 7 iron.

Italo Paris, Gleb Abbey Golf Club, Hole #15

Seems like every friend I have went crazy and was so thrilled. I received calls and messages from people I hadn’t heard from in a while. We were at a family picnic when my son threw out the idea of playing Glen Abbey on Monday. He grabbed a 2:10pm tee time for Monday the 10th. Eligius my son, my future son-in-law Brandon Conn and my best friend and brother-in-law Joe Barrile were all in.

We are not exactly scratch golfers, but we have fun. It was a gorgeous day, and we were struggling to break 100 from the blue tees. Hole #15 was measured at 105 yards, red flag maybe 12 feet from the front of the elevated green. I pulled my gap wedge and hit an easy swing. It was the best contact of the day and was all over it right from the start. I was happy to hit the green; I was just hoping it was the right club! Don’t be short. Where did it go? It’s gone. Maybe we just can’t see it because of the elevation. We started yelling pretty good. We jumped in the carts and drove to the green. Nothing on the green, checked the cup and it was in!

John Guerra, Carrying Place Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

The hole was 193 yards from the black tees and I hit a 6 iron. I was playing with my son.

Alex Lawrence, Gage Golf and Curling Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in a two-man scramble. My teammate hit his wedge long, then I stepped up and thinned mine! The other guys in my group said it’ll be good, watching it go towards the green it hit once and rolled into the hole! My first hole-in-one and I thought I thinned it! What an experience I was stunned! Finally, I have checked it off the bucket list!

Arlene Omelchuk, Eaglepoint Golf Resort, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was July 11, 2023, and it was ladies’ night at Eaglepoint Golf Resort in Kamloops. I was using my TaylorMade 4H hybrid RBZ from 140 yards when my amazing orange ball landed and rolled into the hole. Then the next thing I knew I had my golfing girls jumping up and down hugging me and yelling you got a hole-in-one! The ladies on the putting green from the hole behind us also saw and started yelling too. I could hardly write my score as I was shaking so bad. I feel so grateful that this happened and was able to share it with my three awesome golfing friends.

Belinda Steckler, Mission Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my friends Kathy and Patti. We were playing an early nine holes before our ladies’ night. The hole was measuring about 110 yards, and I used my 9 iron. I thought I saw the ball land just short of the green and bounce up toward the hole, but it was difficult to tell if it went in. I walked up with my putter in case it did bounce by the hole and was pleasantly surprised to find it in the hole!

Brett Olynyk, The Glencoe Golf and Country Club

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a great moment that I was able to share with my foursome who were a couple of great friends and my sister who has just taken up golf! The couple in the group behind also were able to celebrate with us.

It was a gentle 197-yard draw into the wind with a 4 iron that landed on the front of the green and disappeared into the cup. With the flag creating a shadow, I wasn’t totally sure it was in until I reached the cup. What a great feeling! The Glencoe Golf and Country Club provided a beautiful case for the ball, and a head cover, and of course a drink for all of those in the clubhouse!

Brady Belliveau, Royal Oaks Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was 150 yards, and I used a 9 iron. I was playing with Anthony Cormier, Jean Mainville and Jeremie Leger.

Bruce Christensen, Fort St. John Links Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with Jim Vanderwark and the yardage was 116. I used my 7 iron by mistake!

Cliff Hodder, Listowel Golf and Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son Cole, and two friends Brady Werth and Rick Snider. The hole was a front pin on #14 sitting just beyond the pond. I hit a very high gap wedge exactly 138 yards directly into the hole, didn’t touch a blade of grass. It was a great moment, especially considering my son was with us! I’ve seen hole-in-ones twice before, but this was my first!

Dale Triol, Malone West Course, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 132 yards over water. I used an Adams 6 hybrid. A group of 12 guys were on our annual golf trip to Malone, N.Y. The weather was ideal, and the tee shot landed left of the pin approximately 15 feet and followed the break on the green into the hole. We were able to see the ball go into the hole from the tee deck.

David Grant, Lookout Point Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second hole-in-one and a proud moment. I was playing with fellow Lookout members Bob Anderson, Peter Glaub and Don Robert. The second hole at Lookout Point that day was playing approximately 150 yards into a slight headwind. I used my Titleist 6 iron and ProV1x for the shot. After the ball was in the air, I heard one of my playing partners say that the shot looked good. When it landed, I saw it go towards the hole but stated I think it went long. On arrival at the green I saw the ball in the hole. A little celebration and then onto the next.

Don Roper, Links at Crowbush Cove, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my first hole-in-one. It was a short par 3 which was only 90 yards to an elevated green. I used my pitching wedge. My partners were my wife, Judy Roper, and Lynn and Bill Cabel.

Donna Longo, Summit Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my third hole-in-one at the Summit Golf and Country Club of which I’ve been a member since 2020. I was with my three good friends, Rosanne Longo, Carmela D’Avino and Colette Griffin. It was a back pin reading about 120 yards, I used my 6 hybrid. We saw it land and then disappeared so I assumed it was in the back bunker or in the rough. When I got to the green, I looked in the bunker. I then went straight to the hole. It was so much fun being able to share with my friends!

Evan Grierson, Carman Golf and Curling Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Darci Wood, Eric Klassen and Shelby Orchard. It was hole #8 which was 147 yards with a pitching wedge.

Fraser Allen, Grey Silo Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit a 6 iron from 170 yards and I saw it take a bounce right at the pin. Then we couldn’t see the ball as it was blocked by the hill and bunker that it was tucked behind. We heard all the spectators say, “Go in!” then they all started cheering and our group went crazy!

Garry Fotheringham, Shuswap Lake Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a red pin located behind the sand trap about 110 yards from the tees. I used a King Cobra 9 iron to make the shot which landed nicely on the green and rolled into the hole. My playing partners were my good friends Ecky Pilz, Bill Colley and Dave Kinley. It was also witnessed by a young couple from Armstrong, B.C., who were on their way to the 18th hole. Shuswap Lake Golf Course presented me with a nice keepsake mug and a $100 chip to honour the occasion.

Garth Doll, Earl Grey Golf Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

As luck would have it, I got my second ace in two weeks yesterday. I was playing at Heritage Pointe in Calgary, and on the 5th hole of the Heritage 9, I sunk a pitching wedge from 146 yards. It landed five feet left of the pin, it hopped once and spun back into the cup for the third ace of my lifetime! I was playing with my friend Luke Milan.

Geoff McGowan, Kanata Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Jason Brum, our head professional, Tim Bonnar, our superintendent, and Don Ferrar. It was a 6 iron, 150 yards on #13 at Kanata. I managed to keep it together and finish with a tie for my personal best at Kanata with a 76 as well.

Graham McIsaac, Capilano Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

1988 on the fourth hole at Capilano. It was from the silver tees and was 125 yards. I used a 9 iron and the shot landed on the front and rolled in!

Greg Szabo, Cottonwood Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

A very exciting moment in my golf life!

Jack Logan, Olympic View Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing hole #16 at Olympic View Golf Club. It was a Callaway ball and 106 yards.

Jake Jeffries, Bayview Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

My first ace occurred on the 145-yard 8th hole during the Bayview Golf & Country Club member/guest tournament. I hit a gap wedge to a blind pin placement and luckily there was a group on the first green who were able to witness it.

Janet Bremner, Rasberry Ridge Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my first ace 20 years ago on this course. It was a great feeling, I used my pitching wedge, and the distance was 105 yards. I played with Susan Curll, Gina Boswell and Linda.

Janis Byrne, Bally Haly Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Sharon Gregory, Janet Ash, Jeannie French and Madeline O’Keefe. The yardage was 93 yards to the flag and I used a 9 iron. I hit it past the hole and it rolled in off the slope. Sharon had a hole-in-one on #2 at Bally Haly South the week before and I played with her then too.

Jean-Guy Faubert, Pheasant Run Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

My father-in-law, Randall Drake and I were out on July 10th, at Pheasant Run, north of Toronto. The track we started on was Highland and we would later finish on Midland. It was a bright warm morning, and we weren’t paired up with anyone that day.  Gave us some quality time to catch up and enjoy this wonderful course.

The first few holes were slow off the get go. My drives were off, but my short and putting saved them for a close to par start to my day. My father-in-law gave me the honors to hit first on the 8th tee box, and I lined up the shot, which was over some water. I decided to use my 7 iron.

I struck the ball, with a solid hit, really good compression, and the ball lands at the edge of the front of the green. As I was watching, the ball took a light curve towards the pin, and then, I lost it. Having only golfed at this particular track twice, I wasn’t sure if the ball had fallen off the green behind the pin, and then, behind me, the groundskeeper let’s out a huge “Wow, that’s a hole-in-one.” Still unsure, my father-in-law hits his ball, and we get in the cart, and head on over to the green. I couldn’t see my ball, but there was no other possible reason why, other than it being hidden in the cup. I walked to the pin, and I let out a huge scream. The groundskeeper was applauding on his tractor, and my father-in-law was so excited, as he had never seen one. What a feeling.

Jill Snell, Fernie Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my partner, Greg Kosinski, from the green tees. The shot was to a front pin giving it a distance of about 45 yards.  This is the hardest shot on the course given it is over a mound onto a downhill sloped green. I used a half swing with my gap wedge. This is my first hole-in-one ever and it was nice to get it on my home course.

Jo Chow, Delta Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing on a Tuesday for our Ladies Club at Delta with Donna, Leslie and Cheri. It was playing 125 yards that day over water, so I figured a 7 iron. Cheri said she thought it went in and I said it went by the hole. We get up there and there it is in the hole. It only took 44 years for this moment to happen. The members of our Ladies Club were very congratulatory, and they all had a free drink on the Ladies Club.

Jo-Ann Richardson, Saint-Raphaël (Club de golf), Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

On July 11th, 2023, I was playing a round of golf at Saint Raphaël with my husband, Mike Baumel, and friends Anne Wilson and Donald Reid.

On hole #3, the pin was positioned in the middle of the green. There are sand traps at the front of the green and the back, and a lip at the front preventing you from seeing the hole. It was about 115 yards, and I used an 8 iron. The ball landed just after the sand trap and while it was dead straight at the flag, we couldn’t see if it had come up short or had rolled in. I was thrilled to see that it had, indeed, rolled in the hole!

Joe Guagliano Jr, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Gino Ingraudo, Anthony Rizzuto and Brian Hoyle. After a good start to my round, I came to #7 one-over par. I dialed in the yardage at 149 yards and was the first to play. I chose a pitching wedge for my shot. When I struck it, I knew immediately it was good, the ball was right at it. Hugs and high-fives were shared all around.

This is my second hole-in-one at Hamilton, my first one was July 15, 2008, almost fifteen years to the day! This one was really special as all four of us saw it go in, very memorable! Something I won’t forget.

Jordan Thiel, Galt Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I love the game of golf and find it to be both rewarding and challenging at the same time. I go into each game trying to make it better than the previous.

On July 13th was my second hole-in-one in two years and I couldn’t believe it.  It was a very exciting for myself, and the guys I played with couldn’t have shown more gratitude. Vinny Luka, Chris Hohol and my dad, Marc Thiel, are always a great group of guys to play with and make the game that much more enjoyable. The yardage was 195 and I used a 5 iron with a little draw. It took one bounce and a couple yards of roll; it dropped in the hole!

Justin Neufeld, Aberdeen Glen Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my third one in my life. My round started off well and I stumbled a bit in the middle, then started hitting some pretty good shots coming in. The hole was 169 yards, with the pin in the front right, and tucked behind a bunker. I hit the exact shot I envisioned, a cut starting at the center of the green, cutting towards the right. It was struck so well that I exclaimed out loud “that’s perfect” followed by “go in the hole.” The ball landed, bounced twice and disappeared. I could hear the ball contact the pin. We were the first group to play that pin location that day, and I hit the first shot of the group. The greenskeepers had just finished setting the pin on that hole and were still waiting behind the green for us to finish the hole. I was using a Pro V1 that I had found and had been playing for a few holes after having lost my original ball earlier in the round. I still have the ball; it is my current provisional.

Justin Schultz, Kelowna Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #17. The shot was 152 yards, playing about 146 with slope. The pin was placed dead centre of the green. I flushed it off the tee, started about eight yards left of the hole with a tiny butter cut on it. The ball landed about five feet left of the pin and had some side spin on it and rolled in like a putt. We could see the entire thing. The boys went crazy. I was playing with Craig Eisenhut, Cody Franson and Brock Raddatz.

Ken Kachur, Willows Golf & Country Club – Lakes-Bridges, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one at Willows playing with Colin Bowerman and Bob Morrison. I used an 8 iron and it was 125 yards.

Laura Kim, Carnmoney Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my husband Harry Kim and Carnmoney members Chris and Sheph McIntyre. I played from the silver tees, 90-yard distance and used my pitching wedge. While I have golfed sporadically throughout my life, my husband and I joined Carnmoney in 2021. Since joining Carnmoney, I have played in the Ladies program and have benefited tremendously from Ladies Clinics led by Tiff Gordon.

Les Channell, Beverly Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a mixed match on hole #12. I was 153 yards out and I hit a 7 wood. I am 72 years old, and my wife Liz and I are avid golfers and supporters of Golf Canada.

Magda Salib, Weston Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I used my 7 wood, and the hole was 114 yards. I played with Christine Johnson and Teresa Karolidis.

Marc Donnelly, La Champêtre, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my fifth hole-in-one. It was on the fourth hole at Le Champêtre and used an 8 iron. The hole was about 148 yards.

Marco Rulez, Turtle Creek Golf Club

temp alt for theme iandt

Great day!

Mary McNeill, Hampton Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Gary, my husband and Gerry Connolly. I used a 7 iron to hit it 110 yards. I have been golfing for 12 years and go out twice a week.

Matthew Di Vona, The National Golf Club of Canada, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I made my ace on July 12, 2023, at The National Golf Club of Canada. It was hole #5 from the black tees, which was playing 183 yards into the wind. The pin was at the back right. I hit a perfect 6 iron with a soft fade that landed eight feet short of the hole, bounced twice, and trickled in.

Patrick Leonard, Georgetown Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Ian Patterson, Steven McShane and Covy Mareemootoo. The hole was 149 yards. I used a 7 iron and was playing with a Pro V1X golf ball. This is in fact my third hole-in-one at Georgetown as I have also previously aced the 8th and the 12th hole. Now I set my sights on the two remaining par 3’s, the 14th and the 16th.

Peter Shield, Riverside Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in the men’s league at Riverside Golf Club in Edmonton. My playing partners were David Halbauer, Kevin Bouchard and Norman Modeste. It was 130 yards and I hit a perfect pitching wedge that never left the flag. Unfortunately, as a raised green, we didn’t see it go in. When we got up the green, we were missing a ball and looked over the back; it was not there. We could see a pitch mark six feet short of the hole. Norman was the first to see it in the hole and then the cheering started.

I have kept the ball and have a picture of the scorecard. This is my second hole-in-one, but social media and camera phones make things easier.

Rick Button, Tower Ranch Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Vic Margetts and Marty Bray. Vic is a part of my regular foursome, the other two (Neil and Mick) were away that day. Also present was Liam Kightley-Kauser who works in the pro shop at Tower and just happened to be there putting slope adjusted yardages on the yardage board. The distance was 141 yards and I hit 9 iron. It was my third hole-in-one at Tower Ranch but my first on the 12th hole.

Sid Green, Avon Valley Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I played Avon Valley with Allan Rendell and Paul Marriott. I had a hole-in-one on #5. It was playing 130 yards and I used a 9 iron.

Terry Bell, GlenDenning Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a front pin location from 144 yards. There was a strong headwind, so I clubbed up to a 6 iron. It glided through the air and landed perfectly on the side of the hole and dropped in.

Vince Kennedy, Huron Oaks, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

I celebrated my first ace at Huron Oaks. I used a 7 iron and hit it 145 yards.

Will Belanger, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

On hole #13 at Greyhawk Predator, the hole was playing 155 yards from the black tees. I hit a 9 iron with the wind in my back and it landed six feet away from the pin and slowly rolled in. I was also playing with Andrew Milloy and two members from Greyhawk that I didn’t know at the time.

Eddie Beqaj, Wooden Sticks, Hole #17

The 17th hole at Wooden Sticks is a replica of TPC Sawgrass. It was 130 yards out and it spun into the hole.

Kyler Kohli, Joanne Goulet Golf Club, Hole #8

I was out for a round with my dad and his girlfriend. The yardage was 154 to a front middle pin and I used a nine iron to land it two feet from the cup which then rolled in.

Alex Barr, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

On the afternoon of July 10th, 2023, I got a hole-in-one on the 14th hole of Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. It was my first round as a member there! The hole is a par 3 that was playing 132 yards against the wind. The club I used for my once-in-a-lifetime shot was a 9 iron. It was a moment I’ll never forget and I’m so happy that my girlfriend Kennedy and buddy Sean were there to celebrate the moment with me!

Andrea Feheley, Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

I played Chateau Whistler, and the 10th hole was 86 yards with a 54-degree wedge. One bounce and straight into the hole it went. I was awarded a gorgeous flag with details of the shot. I played a great game with nine pars which led to my lowest score of the year so far.

Bill Preston, Ainsdale Golf Course, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

This was truly a moment that I will remember forever.

Brad Evenson, Waskesiu Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Jim Spriggs and Paul and Cindy Pinder. The yardage was 119 and I used my pitching wedge.

Burl Moody, Penticton Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Andy Clough and Ken Nickel, both fellow members of Penticton Golf and Country Club. The distance to the flag was 126 yards and I hit my pitching wedge. I have ten fingers raised with the ball in my hand as it was my tenth career ace.

Chad Giles, Gage Golf and Curling Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

On May 29th, I was out practicing for an upcoming tournament and was playing alone. There was hardly anyone on the course as I sailed around the front 9 in little time, and not shooting particularly well either. On the back, I was playing a little better and made a birdie with a couple of bogies. As I reached the 13th fairway, I caught up with a group of three, and on the 14th tee, I realized that it was three of my co-workers with whom I’d never played golf with. They had all hit as I was putting out on #13 so I stepped up to the par 3 146-yard 14th hole with a pitching wedge and proceeded to hit a beauty right at the flagstick. It was a one hopper, one of the guys in my group said, “Go in” when it hit, and it did, disappearing into the hole to the disbelief of myself and everyone in the group. We all laughed and exchanged friendly banter as we went down to pluck the ball from the hole. I kept saying to them that I was so thankful that they let me join to have witnessed this as nobody would have believed it otherwise. The funny thing is, I was a 10 handicap at the time and the next hole was a par 5 which I went on to eagle and the next hole was another par 3 that I stuck about three feet and ultimately missed the putt, but for me to almost go -5 through 3 holes was a highlight of my golfing life! I ended up only shooting a 73 that day but I’ll forever remember being thankful I wasn’t alone!

Daniel Beaulieu, Eagles Glenn Golf Course, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a rainy day where carts were not allowed and I ended up paired with three other walkers: Leah, Gary and Barry. Given the weather and limitations of carts on the golf course, we had the golf course to ourselves! When we got to hole #6, I saw the blue flag tucked in the back around 155 yards from the white tee box. I pulled out my 7 iron (TaylorMade P790), I swung and hit the ball flushed. The ball hit 8 feet above the pin and spun back slowly to the hole. I emptied all the air I had in my lungs and screamed “It went in!” I celebrated with my golf partners and took a photo.Fortunately, there were only four of us and the beer cost was minimal! It was truly a blissful moment that I will cherish forever. I kept my hole-in-one ball and plan to turn it into a trophy someday. The funny thing is that hole #6 is my least favourite hole at Eagles Glenn.

David Larke, Galt Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

On July 8, my friend Roy Turunen and I were partnered together in our “Beat the Pro” event at the Galt Country Club. It’s a net best ball event where you and your partner try to outscore the club professionals. We had a fairly strong front nine, but we were struggling somewhat on the back.

The 16th is an intimidating par 3 with a large pond on the left and the Grand River to the right. It was 173 yards to the pin. I put a good stroke on a hybrid 5 iron and as it flew, we both commented on how good it looked. It landed near the front of the green, rolled for about three or four seconds then disappeared. I told Roy that I think it dropped and he told me to “Just hold your horses”. Sure enough, it was nowhere to be seen as we walked up!

David Muth, Castlegar Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my friends Rob and Jay. The yardage was about 122 from the blue tees, pin in the center of the green. The ball landed 15 feet past the pin and spun all the way back to the hole, we did not see it go in but found out when we got on the green. I hit a 48-degree Vokey SM8 wedge.

Debbie Dyck, Two Eagles Golf Course and Academy, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with friends Gary and Shannon Abbott, and Ken Koemsted. The yardage was 133 and I used a hybrid 5 wood. Gary worked at Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy for a couple of years and said they used to give golfers a flag for a hole-in-one, so he went to the proshop after our game to inquire and found out they no longer do. He and Shannon bought a ball marker for me instead. They went to retrieve the scorecard from a cart and the starter asked if they were with the person who got a hole-in-one and when they confirmed they were he gave them another ball marker. An anonymous golfer in the area of the hole had purchased one for me as well. We were very impressed with that random act of kindness from another golfer.

Ed Desroches, Flamborough Hills, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

This occurred at Flamborough Hills golf course on the Lakes #2.

The yardage was 109 and I used a 48° gap wedge. I was playing with Rick Donald and Mike Donald in the Wednesday morning men’s league.

Eric Doull, Cultus Lake Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was having a pretty bad round and decided my score was a wash, so I’ll just try to have some good shots and practice. I had barely gotten any sleep the night before and it was 7:30 in the morning. The hole was 102 yards and I hit a normal full swing 56-degree and I thought it was pretty good. It wouldn’t stop rolling until it went in the hole. It did not feel real. I’m pretty sure the people in the next postal code could hear me going crazy. I was alongside my older brother, which made the moment even more special because we’ve always had a rivalry on the course, but I could tell he was really happy for me (and maybe a little jealous).

Gary Mawhiney, Delhi Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

I started playing golf when I was 11 and was about to turn 65 when the magic happened. I’ve never had an ace but during my golfing life I have managed three albatrosses and left several on the edge of cup for that elusive holy grail of golf. Finally on that fateful day I came to a par 3 192-yard hole on my home course. I hit a 4 iron into a slight left to right breeze. The ball hit the green and rolled into the hole. The irony in this was I couldn’t see the hole clearly so when my playing partner said he was sure it went in I was doubtful. The day was Friday 13th on the 13th hole. The thing that was the sweetest was my playing partner was my son and it was his third witnessed hole-in-one. He is still trying!

Guy Polillo, Muskoka Bay Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I played the round with my friends Liam O’Donoghue, Matt Dipaolo and Kyle Harrington. My fiancé Bri had her bachelorette party planned over the weekend, so we opted to take full advantage of it and get out for a round of golf. We decided to make the two and a half hour drive north from Brantford to play Muskoka Bay for the first time and it was well worth it.

We played from the white tees and the yardage on the 11th hole was around 135 yards which is a 9 iron for me. The ball landed a foot or two behind the hole before slowing down, catching a hill behind the pin, and started to roll towards the hole. We couldn’t tell for sure from the tees but luckily enough after a quick run to the green we found my ball exactly where we were hoping it would be.

The group was very excited for me, and it made an already incredible round of golf even better. We definitely hope to return soon!

James Gaby, Silvertip Golf Resort, Hole #6

It was an incredible day. I was playing with my wife, Kari. I was playing from the blue tees, but they looked to be closer to the whites that day. The yardage on my watch said 160 to the pin. I used an 8 iron and my ball landed about 6 feet past the pin and rolled back in for the hole-in-one. I also broke 80 for the second time, which made it extra special.

Jamie Newton, Willow Park Golf and Country Club, Hole #18

I was playing with my dad who has four holes-in-one, and this was my fourth to tie him!

Janet Laus, St. Catherines Golf and Country Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was with my husband Shane Davis, and two friends, John McKenzie and his wife Patricia McKenzie. The distance was 110 yards, and I used my 7 hybrid.

Jason Abbott, Sleepy Hollow Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Daniel Nicoletta, Robert Darnowski and Ryan Moore. The yardage was 147 and I used a pitching wedge.

Jason Zabinsky, The Glencoe Golf and Country Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my son Colton Zabinsky. The distance was 173 yards and I hit a 7 iron.

Kevin Dorrius, Revelstoke Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I admit that I am still really excited about the hole-in-one. It was on the 3rd hole at Revelstoke Golf Club, where I am a member. It was from the white tees, which played 191 yards. It was with a TaylorMade Sim 2 Max D 5 wood. I was playing with my wife, Liane Dorrius, and fellow club members Frank Bafaro and Matt Graham.

Mitch Currie, Mactaquac Golf Course, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

My brother Rick Currie and I were golfing our home course at Mactaquac Provincial Park. We were on hole #16 and the yardage was 165. I hit a 25-degree Titleist hybrid that landed just short of the green and rolled about 35 feet and disappeared. My brother started jumping up and down and yelling that it went in. I was in disbelief and just stood there in awe. It was the second hole-in-one that my brother had witnessed. I know he was more excited than I was.

Mike Bonyun, Iroquois Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I scored my first ever hole-in-one at my home course in Iroquois, Ontario. It was the 7th hole, a 158-yard par 3, playing from the blue tees. It was far from a textbook shot, hitting my 7 iron a little flat, but it did the trick! I was playing with my usual partners, Jim, Mike and Bill, two of whom witnessed the ball roll into the cup. The third, Bill, was busy digging in his bag, probably looking for another beer.

Nancy Schafer, Sirocco Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I feel blessed!

Nathan Relitz, Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with three buddies on our home course, Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club. I have been playing with these guys for years. It was hole #3 which was 178 yards. I got to tee off first, so I grabbed my 6 iron and a Srixon Z-star. This hole has an elevated tee box which overlooks some bushes and a creek with bunkers on both sides. I took a few practice swings, lined up and hit the ball. The ball started on the left side with a little fade to it, flew over the left bunker bounced on the middle of the green rolled up and could hear it hit the flag stick and disappear.

I stood there for a few seconds in disbelief before raising both arms then turning around to see my friend’s reactions. First, I looked at Lorne Goodman, he was looking in the bush to find a broken tee or a free golf ball for his shot. Second, I turned my head to see that Sean Groarke was in the golf cart scrolling for the next great song to play. Lastly, I turned to trusty Ron Feenstra and watched him raise both his arms and started cheering that it went in. Thank goodness someone was watching.

Thanks again to my friends for many great rounds over the years and looking forward to many years of golfing alongside them. Whether it’s looking for balls in the bush, listening to the next great tune or cheering on a heck of a shot! I would also like to thank the Sylvan Lake Golf and Country club for treating us so well over the years.

Owen Salmon, Royal Regina Golf Club, Hole #14

I was playing with my parents, and I used my 9 iron.

Paul Cyr, Mill River Golf Club, Hole #17

The yardage was 140 yards, and I used my 7 iron. The conditions were very good with minimal wind. My playing partners were Jim McIntyre, John Arsenault and Philip Hore.

What a great feeling!

Porter Smith, Andersons Creek Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I got the hole-in-one on Sunday during the second round of the club championship at Anderson’s Creek. I was playing with Mike and Magnus, two fellas that are members of the course but who I have never played with before. We got up to the fourth hole a par 3 131 yards downhill. I pulled my 52-degree wedge out of my bag knowing that it was the perfect club after playing this hole many times. The pin was close to the left of the green and we could only see the top half of the flag. As soon as I swung, the ball was tracking towards the flag. No one said a word, but we heard it smash the green with a thud. Our first thoughts were that it could be very close. I was walking and Mike and Magnus were riding in a cart, so they were first to the hole. As I crossed the gully I looked around and didn’t see my ball. Then Mike was giddy and ran over to the flag and yanked the pin out and the ball plopped right out of the hole. I couldn’t believe what just happened. I freaked out, we all freaked out. It was awesome.

Rhea Martin, Kings Links by the Sea, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

So much fun and a great shot!

Richard Coombs, Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I hit an 8 iron on the 142-yard par 3 at Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course. I knew I had smoked it and thought it might have to sit pretty quickly. I saw it bounce over the bunker but assumed it had rolled long. The view of the cup was obstructed by the bunker, so I didn’t see it go in but a player from the group ahead walked back onto the green and yelled at us saying it went in. A huge surprise!

Rita Clarkson, Kinga Links by the Sea, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 7 iron into a head wind.

Rob Benton, Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 7:30 am start time, first tee time of the day. I used a 6 iron on hole #5. It was a straight ball flight, one bounce and rolled about six to eight feet. I was playing with a dad and two sons from Washington and a single player up from Vancouver. One of the boys was just a ride a long and not playing but I ended up having four witnesses. It was a beautiful morning I’ll never forget it. I’m a member at Chateau Whistler and play there nearly every day.

Robert Armes, Toronto Hunt Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a magic moment with my friends! I used a gap wedge, and it took a couple of bounces before dropping. This is my fourth hole-in-one. I find it helps when I hit the green!

Ron Van Noort, St. Andrews East Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Bill Hilton, Paul Maynard and David Myers. The distance was 152 yards and I hit a 9 iron. It was the first hole-in-one that I have made.

Shane Gallagher, Victoria Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It’s actually my second ace on that hole and I didn’t see either of them actually go in. I have an ace at Ardmore Golf Club which was my first and fortunately I got to see that go in! This one was 108 yards into the wind. I went with a big draw on a pitching wedge which happened to land in a good spot. Again, we didn’t know if it was in but more realistically, we figured it was close. We got to the green and there was no ball in sight. We checked the cup, and the celebrations began!

On that day I was playing with one of my longest tenured friends and playing partners, Jason Hawkings. Jason also is a member of Victoria. It was a wild day and not one I’ll soon forget.

Thomas Norris, Glen Arbour Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a good day as I recorded my second ever hole-in-one. It was the seventh hole and was 135 yards. I used my 7 iron, and it took two bounces and dropped in the hole!

Tom Fraser, Yarmouth Golf & Curling Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

What a great feeling and a great hole to get the ace on!

Tyler Jaroszuk, Eagle Point Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 143 yards to the pin, and I hit my 8 iron pure with a nice little fade seeking right at the pin. The ball landed about six inches to the left of the cup and had a single sideways hop into the cup. I could not believe it went in, I tossed my club, and it was chaos on the tee box. I was playing with James, Kevin, and my dad, all of whom had been golfing much longer than I have and could not believe I was the first to get an ace.

Justin Bjornson, Surrey Golf Club Executive Course, Hole #10

My buddy and I went out for a fun round of golf at a local executive course the day after our graduation. While running on minimal sleep, the only goal of the day was to make a hole-in-one. I shared on my social media page that ace cam was live today. On the 10th hole of the day, I sunk a shot from 95 yards, and it was all captured on camera. In honour of our favourite YouTube channel, we “made the run” all the way up to the hole to find it sitting right in the middle of the cup.

It was followed up two holes later with almost another ace on a par 4 from 310 yards. I proceeded to role the four foot putt in for an eagle, par, eagle start to the second nine.

Hope to keep the good times going as I complete in the Junior Boy’s National championship held at North Bay GC.

Esther Gorman, Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Hole #8

It was a very special moment for me. As my husband is injured, I often golf as a single and one of the things I really appreciate about the sport of golf, and golfing in a resort like Whistler, is that it gives me the opportunity to meet interesting people from all over the world. On June 27, 2023, I was fortunate to be paired up with a very lovely family from New Jersey, a father, Dan, his two teenage sons and his wife who rode along to enjoy the views. The yardage was 123 and I played a 4 hybrid from the forward tees on the 8th hole. My shot went straight, landed just in front of green and rolled into the hole. It was very exciting; I couldn’t believe it. My new golfing friends were very happy for me, a lot of high fives and celebratory yells. A memorable day, that’s for sure.

Anthony Wald, Pickering Glen Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #2 at Pickering Glen, 162 yards but playing closer to 155 with the slope. I pulled out my 9 iron, which takes me 150-155 yards. The flag was at the front left and protected by the bunker. I aimed towards the center of the green. I hit the shot really well and it landed about two feet from the hole, one bounce past the hole and spun back into the cup! I played with a few gentlemen I had just met at the course, Eddie, Ludwig and Steve.

Barry Stacey, Grande Meadows Golf Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

I have waited almost 30 years to have a hole-in-one at my course. I was playing with friends Joe Drake, Calvin Brenton and Todd Robbins. It happened on the par 3 third hole which was 131 yards, and I used my 8 iron. It landed about five yards from the pin, made one hop and rolled into the hole.

Beth Leroux, Bouctouche Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

After golfing for 35 years, today I made my first hole-in-one at Bouctouche Golf Club. My playing partners were as excited as me! I am a summer resident in Bouctouche and started my golf at this course at age 45 and am now in my 80th year!

Bill Hepburn, Beach Grove Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was hitting from the white tees and the yardage was 175. I used a rescue club and I played with Mike Cooper, Brad Hotham and Roger Demers.

Blake Wimperis, Mississippi Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

On July 3, 2023, I scored a hole-in-one playing a 9 iron from the white tee area on the 104 yard fifth hole at Mississippi Golf Club. I played with Dave Evans, Garry Patterson and Tom Demarco. The shot was well struck, straight at the flagstick. It landed about six feet short of the hole and apparently went straight in. I say apparently since I have cataracts and did not see the ball go in the hole. I am 73 years old and have been playing since I was 13. This was my first hole-in-one.

Brian Clarke, Hartlen Point Forces Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing golf on June 26, 2023, and it was a foggy morning. Our golf course is on the Atlantic Ocean pretty well surrounded by water. It’s called Hartlen Point Golf Club and we have one par 3 on the front nine and three on the back. It is hole #6 which is the par three. I took out my 8 iron. It’s 159 yards to the middle of the green but we couldn’t see the green because it was too foggy. Sometimes when there’s fog you don’t swing as hard, but I hit my 8 iron really nice. It looked like it was going to the middle of the green. My playing partners said it probably was going to the left of the green so as we walked towards the green, I started looking on the left-hand side of the green and we couldn’t find the ball so we started heading back towards the hole. One of my playing partners said your ball is in the hole and I was very excited. That was my second on this course on the 13th hole which is roughly about 185 yards. It is a very special thing. My playing partners, Larry, Graham and Mike, were very happy for me.

Colin King, Deer Valley Golf Course, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was 163 yards, uphill into the wind. I hit a perfect 5 iron that drew in from the left towards the back centre pin. It landed about six feet short and rolled in for my first ever ace. I was playing with my regular foursome of Mike Ryan, Greg Ing and Mark Harrison on Senior Men’s Day at Deer Valley.

Darren Oehlerking, Saskatoon Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

The hole-in-one was my first and it occurred on the 10th hole of Sunnydale in Courtenay, B.C. It was witnessed by Robin Ross, Rick Cote and Bill Wilson, all members of Sunnydale. The club was my 52° wedge.

Dawn Bernard, Flamborough Hills Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

On Tuesday June 27th, I made a hole-in-one on hole #8 of the Hills course. It was 153 yards off the tee, and I used a three wood. Although this is my sixth, hole-in-one, it was still a thrill. My playing partners were Marnie Florio and Bud Hollings. Naturally we spent time at the 19th hole celebrating!

Denis Bernardin, Quarry Oaks Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on the 15th hole at Quarry Oaks Golf Course. The distance from the white tees was 172 yards and playing into the wind. I was playing a Srixon golf ball and used a 4 wood. From the tee, the ball went straight towards the flag landing on the green and rolled towards the pin and it suddenly disappeared. So exciting! I was playing with my friend, Chan Kwon Seok, who took a picture after I took the ball from the hole. What a thrill!

Dennis Mchale, Royal Ashburn Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my wife, Laurel, and our friends, Pauline and Les, at Royal Ashburn Golf Club in Whitby. The 7th hole was 119 yards from the white tees. The green is elevated so you cannot see the hole from the tee box. I hit a draw and it looked really good. When we got the carts up to the green my ball was not there. My buddy Les got to the hole first to check it out and confirm that miracles do happen. My ball was in the hole!

Jasmeet Sandhu, King’s Riding Golf Club, Hole #5

It was an amazing feeling!

Jean Poisson, McCleery Public Golf Course, Hole #16

I played a round at Guildford Country Club in Surrey, B.C. today and had another hole-in-one, on the par 3 16th hole!  So that’s two holes-in-one in consecutive rounds! I should buy a lottery ticket!

Jesse Durward, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my parents and girlfriend and couldn’t have asked for a better group! It was 164 yards over water. The shot was on a low trajectory, landed a foot on the front of the green and rolled up, curved to the right, and I saw it drop! I thought it may have gone past the pin to the rough and had my mother go check to see. When it wasn’t behind the green, we all went to the hole to make sure it was in. I always tell my girlfriend “It’s not so much what you do, but who you do it with that makes it special.” It was great to have them all there.

Jonathan Barbosa. Canadian Golf and Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #3 was playing 174 yards and I used my 7 iron. It took place during our men’s night! It was my first, but hopefully not last hole-in-one.

Judy Young, Cordova Bay Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was very exciting. It is my first hole-in-one. It was 110 yards, and I used my 5 hybrid. I knew the green sloped left to right, so I aimed on the left side of the green. We were able to watch it land on the green and roll left to right into the cup. We all screamed and hugged. The men on the next tee box started clapping and I waved and took a bow.

Lise Mathieu, Osoyoos Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was at my home course with two friends with whom I play every Monday. The yardage was approximately 135 yards and there was a side breeze. This was my very first hole-in-one and it was my first game played with my brand-new set of Ping irons.

Marci Perreault, Rideau View Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I used a 7 wood (26 degree) playing from the red tees. It was a back pin at 145 yards.

Murray Cornelius and John Wallace, Beacon Hall Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

Murray Cornelius, Don Horban, John Wallace, and my father, Stephen Boehmer, were playing a round, and on the 11th, Murray hit a beautiful shot off the tee. In the air, my dad said it could be good. It landed and then rolled a few feet into the hole. Murray didn’t believe it, my father climbed the hill and looked with his range finder. He couldn’t see the ball. Meanwhile, John hit. My father had just told Murray that the place to miss was right. They got up to the hole, and Murray was first to the flag. He immediately blurted out that there were two balls in the hole and that the second one had the name “John Wallace” on it. Two hole-in-ones on the same hole, one right after the other. They all went wild. Chances are one in 72,000,000, and it is believed to be the first time this has ever happened at Beacon Hall.

Rob Hewitt, Goose Hummock Golf Resort, Hole #3

What a fantastic experience!

Rob Traynor, The Oaks of St George, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We were the first group out on Canada Day and the 17th hole was 112 yards. I used my sand wedge from 112 yards and it bounced in. I was with Tauseef Malik.

Sandra McLeod, Essex Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

We were playing in the first annual women’s member tournament. My playing partner and I were playing with two other women. It was my first hole which was #17, my first swing of the day! I used my 3 wood, as I am not a long hitter and wanted to get on the green. We watched the ball head straight to green, roll towards the pin and disappear. Because of the shadows in the morning sun, we weren’t sure if it rolled in. We got up to the green and saw the ball in the hole. We all started screaming and hugging each other! I think they could hear us around the course. We called the Pro Shop to let them know and one of the Pros came out and met us on the next hole. It wasn’t long before the news circulated around the course. It was the closest to the pin hole, so I won that!

Shelley Tait, Glendale Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

On June 28th, I was playing at our home course, Glendale Golf Club, with my Wednesday group, Judy Frisina and Janice Seifried. We were on the 4th hole, which is an elevated tee. Judy said, “Okay Shelley, I expect perfection”, to which I responded, “Expect to be disappointed.”

It was a red flag, 99 yards, and I used my 8 iron. It was one of those smokey days, so I couldn’t see the ball in the air until it was low enough to have trees behind it. The ball hit the green, you can see the ball mark, and I thought that maybe the ball disappeared. We all screamed, but then I wondered if we were reacting too early. Luckily, the screaming was not in vain. It was super exciting, and fortunately I was with experienced hole-in-one players who took a photo and advised me to keep the ball. The rest of the round was an exercise in remaining focused. Such a surreal golfing moment!

Thomas Norris, Glen Arbour Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I recorded my second hole-in-one at Glen Arbour Golf Course in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. Hole #7 was playing 135 yards and I used a 7 Iron. It took two bounces and jumped in.

Tim Rosenau, Cabot Cliffs, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

What an amazing feeling to be rewarded with my first hole-in-one on what the folks at Cabot say is the toughest hole-in-one in Canada. Hole #12 was 168 yards. The flag was front right which meant it was protected by the sand in front. When I hit the shot, I thought that it would be short, due to the high winds. But it dropped perfectly and rolled into the hole. My wife Bev and friends Gerard and Janet Biegel saw it the whole way. What makes this even more special is this trip was a donated trip by Cabot to the Logan Boulet Charity golf tournament in Lethbridge, Alberta. My friend for 50 years, his son was friends and played hockey with Logan Boulet just a couple years before the Humboldt Broncos accident. I’m giving credit to Logan for that shot considering how many lives he has helped in his passing because of organ donation.

Tom Hagan, Flamborough Hills Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was our second 18 that day in pouring rain. The plan was to play maybe six holes then go in and have some beers and food. That changed on the second hole. From 113 yards it was a back pin in rain, and I hit a pitching wedge. The ball landed behind the hole and rolled back in for the ace. I finished the round and shot 67. Three years earlier, on the same hole #2 on the Lakes course I had another ace!

My playing partners were Eric Sundgaard, Leo Jansen and Cal Sawicki. The hole was playing about 120 yards with a slight breeze towards the tee box. I used a 9 iron, and we heard the ball strike the pin but unfortunately, the sun was in our eyes, and we were unable to see what happened to the ball until we got on the green. This is my first hole-in-one in about 49 years of playing golf. It was a great feeling to find the ball in the hole!

Alwyn Rees, Northern Bear Golf Course, Hole #8

It was on hole #8 which is 158 yards. It’s a par 3 and my club of choice was a pitching wedge.

Angela Welch, Woodstock Golf and Country Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 140 yards. I used a 6 hybrid. It was my second hole-in-one!

Brent Kezama, Echo Ridge Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in the final men’s night, October 5, 2022, at Echo Ridge Golf Club. It was hole #5 with the back tees and a back right pin. I hit a small draw and watched the ball roll toward the hole and disappear. This green has a sharp drop off at the back. My playing partners said it rolled off the back, but I stated that if it did, it was directly behind the pin. Lo and behold, it was in the cup.

Brian Roberts, Gatineau Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing a Father’s Day game with three friends, including fellow Golf Canada member Jim Sturrock. Hole #16 at Gatineau GC is 150 yards, and I used an 8 iron for a front pin position. The ball landed just on the green and tracked right into the hole!

Collin Babkirk, Talking Rock Golf Resort, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

The layout of the hole and pin placement did not allow me or our group to see the ball go in. I knew from the ball flight that it was going to be close, but I had no idea how close. As I approached the green, I did not see my ball so at that time I figured it rolled off the back of the green. At the back of the green there is a sharp drop off that leads to a pond. When I could not see it there I kind of knew that it was in the hole as it would not have reached the pond. So, it was a bit anticlimactic when I finally got to the hole and saw it laying in the cup. I let out a holler and told everyone the news. The group I was with Peter and Brenda Correy and Micheal Sturgeon play every Tuesday and Thursday and it was great sharing it with them. The hole was 181 yards that day. I used my Stealth 5 hybrid.

Craig Tomlinson, McCleery Public Golf Course, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole-in-one occurred on Father’s Day, June 18th, 2023, on the third hole of McCleery Golf Course in Vancouver. The hole was 166 yards from the tee box to a forward flag that day. As it was an early morning round, I decided on a TaylorMade 4 hybrid. I was playing with seven other golfers that day making up two foursomes. In my group was Tony Tang, Peter Lee and Dick Eng. All these golfers are in a Sunday golf group collectively known as ‘The Golfaholics’. Very recently eight of the members of the Golfaholics (including myself) had returned from a golf trip to St. Andrews in Scotland where we played all the well-known courses that the town has to offer.

Crystal Chen, Mayfair Lakes Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It’s a great experience that I got hole-in-one at hole 4 at Mayfair Lakes Country Club. That day was very windy and 117 yards against the wind. I chose the 7 iron, and I saw the ball was very close to the pin. I just thought it would be a birdie chance. Then, my partner told me the ball jumped into the hole. When I went to the green, I saw my ball in the hole. I was so excited and felt very lucky! It’s my second hole-in-one. My first was in 2019 at Bear Mountain Golf Course.

Daniel Abbott, Watson’s Glen Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

Sunday June 18th, 2023, was a very special day that I’ll never forget. It was Father’s Day. Traditionally, my two older brothers Murray Michael and I, would take my dad out for a round of golf every Father’s Day. My eldest brother Murray was a passionate, avid golfer. Tragically he passed away in 2015. My older brother Michael and I have continued the tradition of golfing with our father every season on Father’s Day.

This season we played at Watson’s Glen and teed off at 11:20am. We had a perfect sunny day with minimal wind. I was playing from the blue tees and would be the first of our group to tee off every hole. From the blues, the score card said 155 yards. The flag was red and it was near the front of the green. I pulled out my favourite iron, my pitching wedge. I had a brief conversation in my head with my brother Murray. I asked him to help me do something memorable for dad and the group here. I hit a perfect swing and the ball flew high and right at the pin. The ball landed roughly four yards before the pin. One bounce and it rolled directly in the cup! Our fourth golfer Peter (Michael’s best friend) screamed that’s a hole-in-one! Michael and my dad were near the carts at the time and came running over screaming and jumping for joy. The course’s marshal happened to roll up on us as the commotion was taking place. He asked what was going on and we were mid-celebrating yelling hole-in-one! He drove his cart up to the green to confirm. As he approached the hole he looked down and gave us the big thumbs up.

Denise Cadieux, Camelot Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

I was very excited and happy to get my first hole-in-one. It was a very special day since it was my birthday and ladies’ day at Camelot. I used my “heaven” wood which is a 7 wood. The distance was 118 yards and it happened on the 11th hole. I was playing with my three friends Helen, Sandra and Pam.

Donna Butterworth-Popert, Granite Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Granite members – Andrew Popert, Joanne Hart and Ian Morton. The yardage was 110 and I used an 8 iron. The 7th hole has a steep incline from front to back. I decided to take an extra club and lob the ball over the flag and use the slope to bring it back towards the hole. The plan worked as the ball landed about four feet past the pin. Gravity took over and after 20 seconds or so, the ball rolled into the hole. We weren’t sure at first and thought it might have rolled off the front edge of the green, which is visually blocked by a marshy area. We were pretty excited to see the result, a hole-in-one!

Ernie Chefero, Ballantrae Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my first ever hole-in-one! At 62 years old, it was a long time coming. Tim Smith, Brycin Morrison and Colton Wylie were playing alongside me. I used a knockdown 6 iron from 167 yards. It took one hop, hugged the flagpole a disappeared to our disbelief.

Errol Hartley, Glen Eagles Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my very first hole-in-one in over 30 years that I have played golf. I am 83 now. The hole-in-one was on the par 3 5th hole at Glen Eagles which is 110 yards. I used a 9 iron and it went in.

Frank Grigg, Cherry Hill Golf Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It all started on June 23, 1965, at the Dorval Municipal Golf Club. My friend from school, Rick Martin, had invited me to join the club with him and we went out to play with his dad for the first time, right after school was over. The cost for a full season of golf was $25 and we could play 18 holes a day including weekends after 4pm. The golf course consisted of nine holes left from the Elmridge Club that had left town when taxes got too high. The city preserved the nine holes to protect the neighborhood from some of the noise from the airplanes taking off and landing right next door at the new Dorval International Airport that served all the Montreal area.

Fast forward 57 years and 11 months and 17 days later (but who’s counting?) and I finally got my first hole-in-one at Cherry Hill Golf Club in Ridgeway. I was playing with my spouse, Shirley Tom, and close friends Dave Ruttle and Victoria Matthews. When I hit the shot, it seemed that the ball bounced hard left and ran all the way off the green. Dave disagreed and thought that the ball had disappeared so quickly that it must have gone in the hole. Dave was right and I still have trouble wiping the grin off of my face. The only downside is that it took me exactly 100 strokes to play the other 17 holes. I think the hole-in-one was God’s way of telling me not to give up…yet!

Harold MacKinnon, Cambridge Golf Club, Hole #7

My playing partners were Gary Harney, Dan Steeves and Ralph Geimer.

Harvey Carroll, Wyndance Golf Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

It was on June 4th at Wyndance on the 17th hole. Playing from the blue tees it was 177 yards and I used my 7 iron (Mizuno JPX 923 Forged). I was playing with Steve Rapp, Robert Turnbull (club captain) and Gerard Chiasson.

Jagger Bitz, Dakota Dunes Golf Links, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was pretty exciting for sure! My buddy Dane Giesbrecht was golfing with me! I was playing the gold tees, and it was 152 yards. I used a pitching wedge.

Joe Chiuchiarelli, Hylands Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

The yardage was 172 and the flag was yellow that day. I decided to use 5 wood. I had a hole-in-one back in 2002; Sunday, September 15 at the Champlain Golf Course. The yardage was around 170 and the club was a 5 metal wood. The yardage and 5 metal wood have been my lucky charms! Making a hole-in-one 20 years ago was always something I felt was a major achievement playing golf all these years, but to do it a second time is unbelievable.

John Cerisano, Brampton Golf Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my third hole-in-one which occurred on June 9, 2023, at the 13th hole of Brampton Golf Club. It was 141 yards, and I used an 8 iron. It was truly a special day as it was my first round at Brampton for 2023 and I was playing with my wife Susan Allen and my good friends, Bill Chapman and Christiane Deschenes.

Karen Pywowarczuk, Thornhill Country Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

The Thornhill Club is such a great place that friends, staff and strangers alike were all genuinely happy and made sure to stop by with warm congratulations.

This is a round that almost didn’t happen. It was a bit drizzly, and rain was to come, so we hemmed and hawed about whether or not to go out. But, of course, like true golf women, we did. I was with my regular Sunday morning gang: Judy Manning, Doreen O’Neil and Andrea Aris. We did receive a good bit of rain on the first couple of holes, but things cleared up after that. I believe I was the first to tee off on hole #4. The scorecard had this as a 102-yard hole, but Superintendent extraordinaire Greg McFarlane always finds creative placements for the tee boxes and pins. I’m sure it was closer to 110 yards. It’s a pretty hole; you are hitting over a river on an angle, so you feel like at least 50 yards is water and you don’t want to overshoot the green as trouble lays back there. Nothing but an 8 iron for me since I wanted it to pop onto the green and stick. It was a pretty shot as it broke and went into the hole. It’s always nice to watch it go in.

Keith Hickman, Water Valley Golf & Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

On hole #13, which is 178 yards, I used my 4 hybrid to get a hole-in-one!

Linda Pirard, Oakfield Golf and Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I had a hole-in-one on our #5 hole, a yardage of about 100 yards over water. I used my 8 iron, which is already one of my favourite clubs. I was playing with Denise Brown and two of the junior players from our course, who were of course, super excited.

I would also like to share with you a special tradition we have at Oakfield. When a player gets a hole-in-one, they are taken into the bar where we have a bell which we ring and announce our accomplishment. Then, we sign a book that is kept at the bar, and anyone who hears about your accomplishment can sign their name and the next time you order a drink the people who have signed pay for your drink. I think it says a lot about our club!

Margaret Crawley, Lambton Golf and Country Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing at Lambton GCC as part of our Quad Club Interclub matches. This involved Mississauga GCC, Islington GC, Lambton GCC and Toronto GC. There is a member from each club in each foursome. Each person plays a six hole match against each of the other three players. We were just starting our second set of matches when we arrived at the fifth hole at Lambton. It was a 108-yard par 3. I used my 6 iron. We watched it fade toward the hole and talked it into the hole, watching it roll towards the hole and then disappear! The other ladies in the group had never seen a hole-in-one before, so everyone was very excited. Of course, when we arrived back at the clubhouse and the bar was declared open, all of the other Interclub players were also excited!

That was actually my fourth hole-in-one. Interestingly, three of the shots occurred in match play. Last year, I had one on the third playoff hole of a two-ball match. Needless to say, we won the match!

Mark Attley, Royal County Down Golf Course, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing the 14th hole from the green tees on the championship course at Royal County Down. I was accompanied by Brad Boundy, Alistair Varley and Steve Pons (all Golf Canada members) along with our four caddies. The hole is a 195-yard par 3 on the card that plays downhill and was playing about 165 that day. I hit a 6 iron, got a lucky bounce and it went in!

Mark Bertling, Vespra Hills Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one on June 11th. It was at Vespra Hills Golf Club in Springwater. I was playing with three of my regulars, David Grimshaw, Rob Gordon and Mitch Eisen. The 7th hole of the Still Valley nine was set up with the flag in the middle and 117 yards. I hit a pitching wedge which landed a few feet in front of the pin and rolled straight in. I ended up shooting 74 that day.

In 2015, I played in a charity tournament for Junior Diabetes at the Shelburne Golf Club hosted by David Markle. It was the Monday after the Canadian Open that year and Nick Taylor was one of the professionals playing. I had bid on a Sandersons Farm Flag that Nick had signed. After the meal, he was gracious enough to join me in a photo. I have been a fan and have followed him ever since. The reason I will never forget this hole in one is because Nick Taylor and David Markle won the Canadian Open on the same day as my hole-in-one.

Neil Cerio, Guildford Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

temp alt for theme iandt

On June 10 I was doing alright, a little bit of struggle on the front nine. I was five over and had a few bogies on the back nine. As my group and I walked up to the 17th hole, wind was blowing right to left with the pin on the back of the green, water in front of the tee box. My GPS read the distance as 156 yards to the flag. I was the third person to hit. When it was my turn, I had a 9 iron in my hands. I started my pre-swing routine and set up the ball aiming to the right of the green. The ball landed in front of the pin then one hop and it disappeared. I wasn’t too sure if it went in or rolled past the pin. Unfortunately, none of my group saw it either but I started to get so excited but still unsure. I told the group to walk ahead and check if there was a ball inside the cup and of course told them what ball I was playing. Their eyes lit up and they all gave me a thumbs up and said, “You aced it!” I was full of joy in that moment, one of the greatest feelings I have had on the golf course. That was my first time seeing an actual hole-in-one, and my first hole-in-one! I ended up shooting 79 on the day which was a great considering all the struggles I went through. I always have wished for a hole-in-one since I started playing golf but then it happens when it was least expected.

Oral Zihove, Sirocco Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my three friends, Scott Dolanz, Jenny Hu and Stan Young. The distance was 148 yards, red flag over the water with a strong left to right wind. Scott hit first and could see the wind take his ball all the way from a good line towards the flag and into the bunker on the right of the green. My 9 iron is my 160-yard club but with that strong wind, I chose that over my normal pitching wedge. It hit the left side of the green, same as Scott, then the wind took it, but it bounced on the green and in. Amazing moment!

Pat Hess, Prescott Golf Club, Hole #9

temp alt for theme iandt

It was amazing! I used my TaylorMade 5 hybrid for the 122-yard par 3 on hole #9. My playing partners were my husband Richard who saw my ball go in, my son Nicholas and a Prescott golf member.

Gilles Courchesne. They were all as excited as I was, it was fantastic. I’m sure they heard my excitement all over the golf course. I was still smiling on the last hole. My game had not been great to that point, and I told my son I needed to get the ball in the hole to be happy with my front nine.

Patty Case, Mabel Lake Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

I’m so excited and was even more excited when it first happened! I yelled and screamed and jumped up and down!

A group of us ladies have been going to Mabel Lake for a few years now and this was my second year. I missed last year because I got married, another exciting milestone! I was golfing with four of my friends – Clara Koehn, Lori Henderson and Carla Tetreau. We were doing our last nine holes for the week, and I was determined to get my ball on the sixth green. I took my time to line up my shot using my 3 wood and let go a nice looping shot. We watched the ball land on the green then it started rolling. Then we couldn’t see it anymore! Then I started yelling! I think the other ladies did too.

Reece Franczak, Jagare Ridge Golf Club, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a pretty amazing experience. My co-workers and I all had the day off, so we decided to go for a nice relaxing morning round. The round was going pretty well and once we got up to the fourth hole, I hit my approach wedge into the 131-yard par 3. As soon as the ball got to the top of the arch, I lost it in in the sun and did not see where it landed. Once at the green, I was searching all around for the ball, becoming upset at the idea of dropping it when my friend said it was in the hole. I originally thought he was messing with me, but I saw the ball and started getting extremely hyped up. This hole-in-one helped me shoot one of my lowest rounds of the year and was a great memory I will keep with me. The head pro at the course made me a flag with the date and hole number on it to have another memento to remember the moment.

Robert Campbell, Greyhawk Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I played with Alex Chaiban, Jack Kilrea and Matisse Touchard. It was 157 yards, and I used a pitching wedge.

Rod Fredrickson, Cottonwood Golf Course, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

The hole was #5 and the distance was 128 yards. I used a 9 wood. I played with Walter Kaminski and Gord Bailey. It was my 5th hole-in-one, and I am 79 years old. I’m sad to say I didn’t see it fall but Gord Bailey did and told me.

Ryan Engel, Cottonwood Golf and Country Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

It was my third round of the year on hole #6 at Cottonwood Golf and Country Club. It was 148 yards, and I was using an 8 iron. I couldn’t see it go in because the flag was off to the left side of the green hidden by a small hill after the sand trap. But when we walked up and didn’t see it, we knew it must have gone in the hole. Very exciting!

Ryan Roe, Seymour Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a two-man best ball match against Ray Stewart and Al Cross. My partner was Stu Ilott. I hit a 9 iron on the 170-yard 8th hole and hit it thin and yelled ‘Get lucky’, and it did!

Sela Ogada, Evergreen Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I checked the yardage with my rangefinder and found out that it was 110 yards, and luckily, I had a club just for that distance. At first, I was planning to club up in case I hit it poorly because even if I clubbed up it would still be on the green. But the front of the green looked a bit dry so I knew if I hit it a little short it would roll up there. I ended up deciding to hit my 110-yard club, but I aimed a little right of the pin because I had been missing it a bit to the left that day. I hit the shot, but it went straight where I was aiming. Then I just bent down to pick my tee up because I knew it was going to be on the green. But when I was picking my tee up, the other people in my group said, ‘get in the hole!’ and I looked at my ball. It was rolling and then I saw it fall into the hole! At first, I was so shocked, I couldn’t believe it. A lot of people that were watching were clapping, congratulating me and giving me high fives. When I got to the green my dad took pictures of me, and I didn’t use that ball for the rest of the round.

Steve Fleming, Pickering Glen Golf Club, Hole #2

temp alt for theme iandt

I waited 40 years for my first hole-in-one! I play every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Probus (Professional Business retirement group). We have about 20 golf members and we play various courses in our region. On Wednesday May 31st, we played Pickering Glen. My playing partner and witness was Colin Whitehead. Hole #2 had a back pin measuring 161 yards with my laser. I hit my 6 iron to approximately ten feet and the ball tracked right into the hole. Jumping for joy was an understatement!

Susan Brooks, Fort William Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

This was my second hole-in-one. The first came in 2000, so it’s been a while. This was hole #14 at Fort William Country Club, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, so that makes it extra special. Hole #14 is right at the base of a mountain, and it was a beautiful day, but the wind was gusting. The hole was 123 yards, and I had a 7 iron in my hand, but at the last second, I switched to my 6 iron, due to the wind. I was with my regular foursome, which included Kim Paterson, Gay Becotte and Laurie Ryan-Cooper.

Ted Van Welter, Cowichan Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

What a great experience at Cowichan Golf and Country Club!

Tim Stewart, Lookout Point Country Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

The 8th hole at Lookout Point on June 10, 2023, was around 145 yards, 45 feet uphill to a blind green. It played into a stiff wind, and I used a 7 wood. I was playing with Gino “Bubba” Paolone, Carl Inacio and Bob Podio. When I hit the tee shot, I thought it was a little right, but the others thought it would be close to going in. Upon getting to the green I did not see the ball and went to the back of the green to see if the ball had gone into the rough over the green as that is what often happens often on this hole. Bob Podio went and investigated the hole and sure enough the ball had gone in. It was my sixth hole-in-one at Lookout Point and eighth overall. The other two were at the Cornwall Golf Club. What was even more special is that I now have aced all the par 3’s at Lookout Point.

Jeff Hawken, Buckingham, Hole #3

I was playing with seven buddies in our usual weekend game. We were in the second foursome. When it happened, our buddies in front of us had moved to the next hole and could no longer see us, but they heard us yelling when it happened! Our group text then lit up asking who put it in! The hole was playing about 115 yards that day and I used a “soft” gap wedge. We were playing a game called Wolf. $2 a hole, double on birdies, eagles and others. We have a rule where we each have to “wolf” at least once during the round, which means we play alone against the other three. The first player that went was 10 feet from the green and decided to wolf. The second guy put it to 8 feet! I then proceeded to put it in the hole. It was a bad time to be playing alone.

Bill Wiseman, Don Valley Golf Course, Hole #5

had my first hole-in-one today which is Wednesday, June 21, 2023. It was on hole #5 at Don Valley Golf Course in Toronto. I used a 6 iron, and it was 163 yards out.

Bob Lalonde, Marvel Rapids Golf Course, Hole #4

I played Marvel Rapids Golf Course in Apsley, Ontario on June 19, 2023. I was with Guy McDougall, John Wilcox and Dave Husband. I holed out on hole #4. It was 124 yards, and I used an 8 iron. Celebrations ensued!

Brad Heykoop, Port Hope Golf and Country Club, Hole #1

I was playing with my good friend Darren White. The distance was 173 yards, and I used my 8 iron!

Chris Stapleton, Yellowknife Golf Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

It was very exciting, it’s my first one. It was a 7 iron from 165 yards over the pond. I was playing with Ryan Moss.

Dave Bowers, Yarmouth Golf and Curling Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a very exciting event for me. My playing partners were Paul Foote, Happy Bourque and Frank Laxton. Hole #15 is 125 yards, and I used an 8 iron. This is my third year as a member and before becoming a member I played in a couple of best ball charity tournaments. My average score has gotten down to the low 90’s. With the hole-in-one I actually broke 90 and got an 88.

Jason Cheng, Don Valley Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

On Monday, June 12th, I was rewarded with my second hole-in-one. This happened on the 160-yard hole #5 at Don Valley Golf Course. I say “rewarded” because an hour before our 5:50 AM tee time, I sent a screenshot of Environment Canada’s special weather statement to Cameron Tedford hoping that he would be sensible and cancel. Nope! He said, “Since we are up, we should go check it out!” As long as there was no lightning, he was going to play.

Little did we know that it ended up being a record setting rainfall day! It was the most rainfall on that day since 1954. I was in head-to-toe Gore-Tex and double FootJoy rain gloves looking more like a hunter than a golfer. Conditions were miserable to say the least.

I hit a 7 iron to the front fringe, and we watched it roll and disappear into the cup. What will always stand out in my memory after seeing the ball drop was Cam’s excitement for me and witnessing his first hole-in-one. As we walked up to the hole, I reserved my excitement until I knew for sure the ball was in the hole. Cam couldn’t contain his excitement and was quick to bring out the camera to capture photos and videos of this moment.

Our threesome (including Phil Bermingham) and apparently, one other single were the only crazy people on the course that morning but it was worth it! Thanks Cam!

Jo-Anne Jobin, Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club, Hole #8

I was playing Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club. It was hole #8 from the white tees. The distance was 136 yards, and I used a 6 iron. It was my first and it was so much fun.

temp alt for theme iandt

On June 18th at the Winkler Centennial Golf Course, I made my first hole-in-one! It was hole #8, 196 yards to the pin with a 4 iron. I was golfing with Golf Canada member Stephen Dueck.

Michael Tablit, Copper Point Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a very memorable time for me when I got my first hole-in-one. First of all, the three gentleman that I was playing with was Greg Adams, Lawrie Anderson and Randy Kieper, all of them have a Golf Canada membership.

It was twelve of us that went on this golf trip in the Kootenays. We played seven courses all over the Kootenays and wouldn’t you know it, I got my first hole-in-one at Copper Point Golf Course. It was about 142-yards, and the pin placement was back right of the green. I was telling my buddy Lawrie about what shot I will pull and told him I’ll use an 8 iron and aim at the flag and spin it back. We were joking about it as it is their signature hole and both Greg Adam and Randy Kieper were close. Then it was my turn to hit so I decided to hit my 8 iron and tee up a little higher. We watched the ball, and it was heading straight to the hole. We saw it hit the back of the green and because of the shadow of the tree and the flag we did not see it go in the hole. Greg said to me, “It will either be very close or in the hole.”. When all of us finished hitting, we started driving to the green and of course with my excitement I was a bit shaky. Closer to the green we only saw two balls, so someone yelled at me to check the hole, so I ran to the hole, and my ball was in the hole. I was so happy and shaky at the same time.

Mike Di Savino, Kedron Dells Golf Course, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

My buddy hit a 6 iron over the green, so I decided to pull out my 7 iron which I normally hit 170 yards. A nice light swing as I kept my head down and hit it as straight as I’ve ever hit a ball. Because it was so far, we didn’t see it go in. My buddy scoped it with his range finder and told me he couldn’t see it. I said, “Come on there must be a hill on the green and it’s got to be there hopefully for a tap in birdie”. So, my other two buddies hit their tee shots and we started the walk to the green. As we got closer, I noticed there was a small hill on the green so again I assumed it was on it. When we didn’t see it, my buddy yelled to check the cup. I went to the cup and there it is. My buddies came and congratulated me. I took a picture of the ball in the hole and then waited for them to finish the hole. It was so amazing, and I’ll never forget it.

Mike Roberts, Innerkip Highlands Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my brother Jamie Roberts and my friend Dan Dunlop. I hit a 6 iron and the hole was 180 yards.

Peter Atkinson, Camelot Golf and Country Club, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rick Hillier, his son Chris Hillier and my son Mitchell Atkinson. It was hole #15 and the yardage was 172. I used a TaylorMade Stealth Rescue #4 and a Vice ball. When I approached the green which is elevated, you cannot see the landing area from the tee box, I thought the ball had gone off the back of the green. I was looking for my ball in the rough when Rick called out my name and pointed to the hole. Life is good, I love golf, especially getting to play with your friends and in this case also our sons.

Rob Duggan, Peterborough Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my first hole-in-one ever! It definitely wasn’t my best round, but I was having a fun day with a fellow member Glen and his guest Andy. We came up to the 16th tee chatting away, stepped up and got a distance from my range finder. It was 142 yards. I grabbed my 8 iron and hit a nice smooth shot straight towards the pin, it landed short and rolled towards the hole. I was happy thinking it was going to be nice and close for maybe a tap in birdie. Then the ball disappeared as it fell in the hole! I think we scared the ladies who were playing the next hole beside us cheering and screaming! We got up to the green and I found my pitch mark about 10 feet from the pin.

Robert Jackson, Eden Golf and Country Club, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my brother, Stephen Jackson. It was 150 yards uphill with an 8 iron (TaylorMade Stealth).

Roger Anderson, Monthill Golf and Country Club, Hole #3

temp alt for theme iandt

It was the third hole on the blue course of Monthill. The pin was on the front of the green about 100 yards away. I used a gap wedge, and it landed on the fringe and took a bounce and rolled into the hole. My foursome that day was Della, Bruce and Rick.

Ron Mitten, Galt Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a 142-yard shot with a light 8 iron. I was golfing with another member and his guests. I was originally supposed to be out of town, but my daughter was due with our fifth grandchild, so we cancelled the trip at the last minute, and I figured why not try and find a game. It was my first ace!

Savio Dias, Glasgow Hills Resort, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was on my own as I live in Glasgow Hills and decided to play the front nine. It was 145 yards, and I used a 4 hybrid.

Shabina Bholim, Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was just amazing to watch with great friends! I knew roughly the white pin is around 115 yards with the wind and just hit it and it was in the air, bounced right in the hole. Fantastic moment!

Simon Richard, Royal Oaks Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

This is my first hole-in-one, and I made it on #8 at the Royal Oaks Golf Club from 135 yards with a pitching wedge. I was playing with my friends Gabriel, Jean-Luc and my father, Marc. I was hitting first off the tee, and we proceeded to celebrate for at least a few minutes. After all the excitement, my dad Marc (who was hitting last), proceeded to hit the pin and dropped down to about an inch and proceeded to roll a few inches away. Almost going in on the same hole! His is the ball that you see by the hole in the picture. I managed to hold it together and shot a 71 that day.

Steve Shaw, Brookfield Golf Club, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing my Saturday morning game with my buddies. In our group there was Dan Cain, Steve Hay and Dave Hett. Unfortunately, we did not see it go in the hole because the green is slightly below the fairway, and the hole was at the front center. Another group was in front of us on the next tee, and two of them walked on our green after I finished hitting. They walked to the hole and signaled that the ball was in the hole. They watched it drop! It was at the blue course at Brookfield. The first hole was 135 yards that day and I used a 7 iron.

Tracy MacDonald, Countryview Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I got my hole-in-one at Countryview Golf Club with Renee Williams. It was about 110 yards, and I used an 8 iron. It was very exciting watching it head straight to the flag, land on the green and then watching it roll closer and drop.

Troy Avis, Broadmoor Public, Hole #11

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing in a Broadmoor Men’s club tournament. The hole was 189 yards with a front left pin. I hit a 6 iron with a slight cut. Unfortunately, I could not see it go in the hole as there is a mound in front of the green. I was playing with Chris Krogen, Bob Richardson and Grant Weissbach.

Tyler Barker, Island Brae, Hole #6

I was playing men’s night with Jake Shields and Jayden Reid. The hole was a 145-yard par 3 and I used a pitching wedge. I had no idea the ball went in at first since you can’t see the hole from the tee blocks only the top of the flag. Then, as I approached the green, I wasn’t happy since I expected my ball to have been on the green and it was nowhere in sight. Of course, I had to look in the hole just in case and there was my ball sitting in the cup.

Vic Rosser, King’s Forest Golf Club, Hole #14

I was on the 14th hole at Elmira Golf Club. It was a 130-yard par 3. I hit an 8 iron from a new set of Wilson’s. I was playing with Bill, Barney and George, all members of Elmira.

Wayne Delbridge, Bighorn Golf and Country Club, Hole #17

I was playing with three members on June 1st. I stepped up to tee off and hit my ball into the bush. I decided to tee off again and aced the hole for par. This was on the 17th hole par 3 at Bighorn Golf & Country Club. Ten days later on June 11th, I was playing with Dean Bachand, Kirk Galbraith and a green fee player. We reached the 17th hole again. This time when I stepped up to hit, I managed to ace it for real. The shot was 100 yards with a pitching wedge. I guess practice makes perfect.

Gail Ross, Galt Country Club, Hole #16

This was my fifth hole-in-one and the second that I have had at the 16th hole. The hole was playing 125 yards and I hit my 5 hybrid with a yellow Callaway Super Soft ball. My playing partner’s name was Mary Durocher.

Lisa Weagle, Old Quarry Golf Course, Hole #16

I got a hole-in-one on hole #16 at Old Quarry Golf Course while on vacation in Curacao with my husband, Robin. It was 100 yards into the wind. I used my 7 iron and lucky for me, I didn't hit it great. The ball went a bit to the right, bounced off a hill, and rolled left across the green right into the hole! The tee box is higher than the green and we watched it happen as if it were in slow motion, then we lost it when we realized I had a hole-in-one! It's my third year of golfing and Robin got me into the game, so it was special to celebrate this fun moment with him.

Alex Heuton, Scarlett Woods Golf Club, Hole #9

I was playing with my friend Kyle the day before his wedding, along with my friends Mike and Andrew. The hole was playing just over 170 yards and I hit a soft 7 iron.

Brian Jamieson, Bridges Golf Course, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

On May 29th I made a hole-in-one at the Bridges Golf Course in Manitoba. It was the 7th hole, a par 3 measuring 142 yards that day and I used an 8 iron. My foursome consisted of Bob Fitchener, Dave Rowe and Steven Milligan. It was a great swing that landed probably 20 feet short and rolled straight into the cup.

My partner Bob got to the green first and didn’t see anything so walked straight to the cup and yelled “it’s in the hole”. It was only then that we had a little celebration and high fives all around. It took about five or six more holes for it to sink in, it was my first ace and nobody else in my group had ever made one, so it was pretty exciting.I’m 63 and have been golfing for 52 years and I’m glad I made one now because it was a bucket list item for me.

Chuck Meyers, Whistle Bear Golf Club, Hole #17

My hole-in-one at Whistle Bear Golf Club occurred on June 7, 2023. My playing partner, Sean Wilson, and I actually saw the ball disappear into the hole from the tee. It is the first of my three-career hole-in-ones that I saw go in. It occurred on the 17th hole, which was 164 yards that day from the blue tees. I hit a 5 iron and it took the slope of the green and disappeared into the cup.

Craig McMorris, Nicklaus North Golf Club, Hole #12

temp alt for theme iandt

It was hole #12 at Nicklaus North and it was pretty much entirely over water. To the front edge was 150 yards and the pin was about 158 just slightly to the left. I hit a soft 8 iron which rolled straight in.

Darcy Smith, Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club, Hole #12

I was with most of my regular crew including Cliff Riemer, Randy Murdoch and my 80-year-old dad Syd Smith but we were missing Marcel Ducharme. On May 2nd at Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club we were on hole #12, 157 yards to a front red pin. The wind was in our face, and I decided to hit a smooth 7 iron. Well, I must say I hit it pretty well, the ball went straight at the stick and hit the ground a few paces in front of the green, it appeared to hop a couple times and rolled straight into the cup! My playing partners Cliff and Randy all got excited and high fived me! Dad was sitting in his cart doing what he does best, eating. I’m happy my dad got to be there for it.

David Rossall, Dear Creek Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my brother Wayne Rossall, my nephew John Alcott and Jeff Eadie. We play closest to pin on par 3’s and I had the last shot. Nobody was on the green, so it was wide open. I originally had a pitching wedge in my hand but watching all the other shots I thought let’s change it to a 9 iron. The hole was 135 yards that day. As soon as I hit it all I heard was, “that’s got a chance.” I hit the ball as perfectly as I ever could, and it bounced twice and in the hole. I let out a yell and so did everyone I was playing with, the best feeling ever to have in the game of golf. I’m 61 years old and have been playing for 41 years.

Doug Williams, Bearspaw Golf Club, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing at my home course of Bearspaw Golf and Country Club in Calgary, Alberta. The club is in fantastic shape! We were playing in a men’s night tournament, and I was with three of my good friends (Trevor Davies, Jarvis Nichol and Ryan Stewart). We golf religiously together on Thursday nights. It was hole #5 which was playing 131 yards into a bit of a breeze. I used a TaylorMade 9 iron. Needless to say, hitting one of these early in the golf season at men’s night on my home course was an unbelievable experience! It was the first of my life (hopefully not the last).

Eric Normore, Fort McMurray Golf Course, Hole #4

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one at Fort McMurray Golf Course. The club used was a RBZ 5 wood by TaylorMade. I was playing with Cathy Normore, Carly Davis and Grayden Northey.

Eric Stinson, Blue Ocean Golf Club, Hole #6

temp alt for theme iandt

Hole #6 at Blue Ocean is a par 3 which measured 198 yards. I hit an 8 iron to a middle pin, and it hopped in!

Finley Steube, The Links at Penn Hills, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with my two friends, Findlay Conacher and Sam Tanenbaum. I hit a 46-degree wedge on the par 3 which is 135 yards. It landed softly on the green and rolled down into the hole.

Gareth Seys, Talking Rock Golf Course, Hole #1

temp alt for theme iandt

I got a hole-in-one at Talking Rock Golf Course in Chase, B.C. yesterday! It was on hole #6, 174 yards off the yellow tees.

Greg Morris, Taboo Golf Course, Hole #15

temp alt for theme iandt

I recently made my first ever hole-in-one at Taboo Golf Course in Gravenhurst! I was playing with my buddy Mitchell and Tyler Seguin who plays for the Dallas Stars. I made the ace on the 140-yard 15th hole using an 8 iron with a Pro V1 golf ball.

Ian Robbie, Lively Golf Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

It was 168 yards with an 8 iron from the tips. Also, I was golfing with two brothers that I was randomly paired up with.

Jill Kubica, Noth Shuswap Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

It was during our Anglemont Estates Ladies’ Golf Club Thursday tee time. I was playing with Doris Hunter, Marie Newton and Brenda Buffel (we are all members of the Anglemont Estates Ladies’ Golf Club). I used my 7 iron and I am not certain of the yardage. The score card says 142 yards from the white tees, but there is no yardage on the score card for the red tees. I’m guessing the yardage was somewhere around 125 yards from the red tees.

Manuela Newell, Riverbend Golf Community, Hole #5

temp alt for theme iandt

It was a surprise and we all got to see it go in the hole! It was Tuesday while playing in the ladies’ league with three ladies who graciously congratulated me, Bev Padfield, Louise Morin and Daryle Pryde. I used my 9 iron for a 90-yard shot. My only thought was to get closest to the pin, as every Tuesday we have closest to the pin contests. Putting the ball in the hole wasn’t even on my mind. So needless to say, I was a happy golfer. This was my third hole-in-one, and it was as exciting as the others. These unexpected happenings on the golf course keep me coming back.

Pat Varley, Seaview Golf and Country Club, Hole #14

temp alt for theme iandt

I was golfing with my husband, Colin. It was a windy but sunny day at Seaview Golf and Country Club in North Sydney Cape Breton. Colin and I decided to leave our previous golf course after 12 years and join Seaview.

We were on an elevated tee with my golf watch indicating 137 yards. The course had just recently opened for the year so, before I let my bad habits get established, I was just concentrating on the very basics of golf, mostly just keeping my head down. I carefully brought my 5 wood around and fortunately, the ball came off my club just the way I wanted. The bright red Callaway ball soared through the air, landed at the front of the green and rolled toward the hole located in the center of the green and just disappeared. It felt like I was watching the whole scene in slow motion.

I don’t remember too much about the following holes because I was in such a mental state. After the game, when I was returning the golf cart key to the pro shop, I couldn’t hide my excitement about the 14th hole and told the staff about the hole-in-one. I must say the staff was so happy and excited for me, it just pleasantly took me by surprise and enhanced the feeling of the accomplishment. The flag that was given to me by Seaview Golf Club will be signed by their golf pro, Lorne Jennex, who was the very first person who gave me a golf lesson approximately 40 years ago. I hope every golfer gets to experience the feeling of a hole-in-one.

Peter Cocciolo, Fernie Golf and Country Club, Hole #16

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing hole #16 at the Fernie Golf Course, where I am a member. The distance was 158 yards to a middle pin. I hit a 7 iron straight at it and the ball bounced on the front part of the green then rolled up the rest of the way and disappeared into the hole. I was playing with my wife, Jane, and friends, Jamey and Karen Farr.

Raymond Barkwill, Cowichan Golf and Country Club, Hole #13

temp alt for theme iandt

It was in our inter-club match (Harry Young) against Highland Pacific. It was on hole #13 from 121 yards and I hit a gap wedge.

Ron Boychuk, Royal Regina Golf Club, Hole #7

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing golf with three co-workers after work. The hole was uphill, 132 yards to a two-tiered green. The pin was on the upper tier. There was a left to right wind as per usual in Saskatchewan. I used an easy 8 iron, hit it short, left of the pin about eight feet. It took a kick and we all saw it roll toward the flag and then disappear. None of us believed our eyes until I pulled the ball from the hole.

Shota Ishizawa, Aberdeen Glen Golf Club, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with Rick Cooper and Ralph Posteraro at Aberdeen Glen Golf Club. I used a 9 iron from 164 yards out. It was a front pin and the ball hit the fringe then disappeared into the hole. A day I will never forget!

Tim Stewart, Lookout Point, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I made a hole-in-one at Lookout Point on hole #8 with a 7 wood into the wind. It was my eighth hole-in-one and sixth at Lookout. When I hit the shot, I thought I was a bit right of the hole, but the playing partners thought it was good. Getting to the elevated green, a playing partner investigated the hole and saw the ball.

Trevor Warke, Ardmore Golf Course, Hole #10

temp alt for theme iandt

My hole-in-one was at my home club Ardmore Golf Club on June 9, 2023. At the time, I was golfing with Ken, Dan and Si. It was on the back nine 102 yards, and I used a pitching wedge. This is my second hole-in-one, my first was in Alberta 32 years ago at Wolf Creek Golf Resort. Now I’m trying for my third!

Victor Bijendra, Langara Golf Course, Hole #8

temp alt for theme iandt

I was playing with George Mak, Barry Guarino and Niall Boag. I played with a 7 iron, and it was 122 yards.
