Call for Applications – Board of Directors
Golf Canada is inviting visionary, values-driven, and strategic leaders to join its Board of Directors for the 2027 governance cycle. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing the sport across the country.
As a Director, you will help guide Golf Canada’s strategic direction, ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization, and contribute to creating safe, inclusive, and world-class golf experiences for all Canadians.
Golf Canada is the National Sport Federation and governing body for golf in Canada, representing more than 380,000 members at 1,522 clubs nationwide. Guided by our 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, we are dedicated to growing the game, supporting excellence at all levels, and ensuring golf in Canada is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all participants.

Board Structure & Eligibility
In accordance with Golf Canada By-Law No. 21, the Board of Directors is composed of between 8 and 13 Directors, including the President, Vice-President, representatives of the Provincial Council and Governors Council, and Directors-at-Large. At least 40% of the Board must be Independent Directors. The Board works in close collaboration with Golf Canada’s CEO and Executive Team to advance the organization’s strategic priorities.
Skills and Experience to Board Candidate Considerations
Golf Canada welcomes applications from individuals who bring diverse perspectives, demonstrated leadership and experience that can contribute to the effective governance and strategic direction of the organization.
The Nominating Committee will consider each candidate’s skills and experience in relation to the needs and overall composition of the Board.
Experience serving on a Golf Canada Committee or Council is strongly encouraged. These roles provide valuable experience with Golf Canada’s governance, strategic priorities and national golf community. Candidates who are new to Golf Canada governance are encouraged to consider Committee or Council service as a pathway to future Board opportunities.
Applications for the 2027 Committee and Council cycle will be open from October 19 to November 16, 2026.
Director Eligibility & Commitment
All candidates for Director must meet the eligibility requirements set out in Golf Canada By-Law No. 21, including:
- 19 years of age or older
- Have the power under law to contract
- Not be an employee or paid contractor of Golf Canada or a Provincial Golf Association
- Be a Member in Good Standing of Golf Canada
- Not have been declared incapable by a court in Canada or another country
- Not have the status of bankrupt
- Be available to participate in approximately 4–5 Board meetings annually, held virtually and in person
Interested in Other Governance Opportunities?
Prior service with Golf Canada is not required to apply for the Board of Directors. However, many Directors gain valuable experience through service on Golf Canada committees and councils, providing an opportunity to develop familiarity with Golf Canada’s governance framework, strategic priorities and broader golf community. Applicants interested in contributing to Golf Canada are also encouraged to consider Committee and Council opportunities. Applications for the 2027 Committee and Council cycle will be open from October 19 to November 16, 2026.
